I would like to have those figures investigated. The additional cost is due additional appeals. I think there are probably a couple or 3 additional appeals. If you get convicted with a life sentence, you get appeals. The court system is expensive, but it costs something like $60 k per year to house a prisoner. If he lives for 30 or 40 yrs, that $1.8 to $2.4 million. I'd have a hard time believing that $2 million is expended on the additional appeals, and even if it does, it's not a budget buster. I don't think we should keep them alive, because it is allegedly cheaper.
