    It pisses me off that the Yankees got Soriano almost for free with Theo paying $17.7 million of the $25 million left on his contract.

    I wouldn't be so sure. The Yankee offense was in a power outage before getting Soriano and Reynolds. Their HR total has spiked since the trading deadline.

    Nice inning by Lackey. We need him to come up big today. He's got the fire in the belly. I just hope that he has enough left in his arm to take us down the stretch. BTW, what is it with major league pitchers and throwing to bases? I'll never understand that.

    Both Soriano and Reynolds will provide more punch than Gomes or Middlebrooks down the stretch and the Cubs are paying $17.7 million of the $25 million owed to Soriano. That is looking like a pretty sweet deal by Cashman.

    Victorino is a key guy. When he is missing from the lineup, that hurts the team.

    The Red Sox need to stop the bleeding and go on a run. If they continue in their current malaise, the Rays will pass us like we are standing still. Making the wild card game can be a one and out proposition. That would be a huge disappointment.

    Unlike 2011, we are not rolling bags of garbage to the mound 3 out of every 5 games. Our rotation (even without Brittle Buchholz) is much stronger than 2011. I will keep us in more games and we will win our fare share of them. What is different from 2011 is that we don't have as big a lead and there is more time left than when the slide started on September 1st 2011. The other difference is that our lineup is healthier.

    Tomorrow we get to face Kuroda. He almost never has a bad game.

    It's just a horrible story. Someone's young daughter got brutally murdered. The remy's have to live with the guilt and sorrow caused by their son. A baby is left without parents. It's just a horrible mess.
