  1. I agree with everything you say above with regard to PEDs. I'm not so sure if I like your restructuring of the HOF, but it doesn't seem like a fully formed idea on your part. As for the PEDs, because of the big money in the game there will always be high tech drug cheating on a massive scale. The temptation is too great and the players and the agents etc. have the money to get the stuff. Legalizing it would level the playing field, but as you noted there would be a trickle down effect to college and high school athletes and maybe even overzealous parents of little leaguers looking for an edge. The trickle down effect is the sole reason why I think the pros need to keep the PEDs illegal. But for that, I wouldn't care if they ingested uranium.
  2. What are the odds?
  3. LOL! For perspective, did you look in your wallet before you typed this and what percentage of your wallet money is the $8?
  4. I got the fun theme of your post, but the line above was the best in the post. The next funniest was Nava and the relentless turtle. He does run like a turtle.
  5. The k's also reduce the number of DPs.
  6. If there is a man on first with less than 2 outs, he is no my choice. Too many k's and a groundball is surely a DP. The relay can be walked over to first base.
  7. Happy Birthday, Yaz! No one will ever play more games in a Red Sox uniform than you did. If Ernie Banks is known as Mr. Cub, you certainly deserve to be known as Mr. Red Sox. My apologies to Johnny Pesky, but that title should be yours-- over 3,300 games and almost 12,000 ABs over 23 years as a player.
  8. I really will be disappointed if we don't win the division. It is there for the taking. The Sox have had a great season, but the importance of each game will continue to ratchet up until the end of the season. Wins will be very hard fought and there is no leeway for stupid play or managing. They can't afford to give away any games.
  9. As long as they come back from the coast with a 3-3 record, they should be in good shape. The best we can hope for this weekend is for the standings to look the same on Monday as they do today. I don't want the Rays or the Skanks to gain any ground this weekend. I fear the Rays most of all, but it is too soon to stick a fork in the MFY's.
  10. He has missed a lot of time with knee problems in the last couple of years. I don't know if he can hold up for an entire season.
  11. The $5 million was guaranteed. There were incentives for playing time in his contract to protect the Sox against him missing too much time due to injury that will bring up his salary to $13 million, and he isn't worth $13 million.
  12. Not a bad player, but his power has been a big disappointment. I expected 25-30 bombs this year from him. He's a good fit in the bottom of the lineup, but not protecting Ortiz. Not worth $13 million.
  13. I agree. It is always best to limit the number of players playing out of position.
  14. Probably, but right now he has been the spark the Skanks need.
  15. The Yankees needed anything. Their offense was running on fumes before they got him.
  16. .781 this year and .828 in 2012-- not too shabby.
  17. He's a career .825 OPS over 15 years with almost 400 HRs. The guy doesn't stink.
  18. I may have to leave town until Thanksgiving if the Skanks catch us.
  19. Effin Skanks won again. Soriano hit another HR to win the game. Boy, he sucks!!
  20. I would like to report that my team might have been hacked by John Farrell, who stupidly left Cliff Lee and Greinke on the bench tonight. This will likely cost me at least 2 pitching categories. Oh well, this is what happens when I paly make believe manager, I get toopid. LOL!!
  21. No, I know that you weren't asking me, but I would rather Ells in that case.
  22. I hope that he isn't using them, because Ryan Dempster might start throwing baseballs at him in the clubhouse. We can't have that. I'd rather they just eat chicken and drink beer.
  23. No, not at all. If you could read the post without your bias, you would realize that I am agreeing with you, hence the winky smiley. I thought that Koji should have pitched last night too. I was mocking those who would characterize mild criticism like this as Farrell hate. Not directed at you at all. Sorry if you took it the wrong way, but sometimes I think you are intent on taking my posts the wrong way. Just sayin...
  24. There are not a lot of OFers hitting the market this winter. I expect that he will get a premium pay day.
