  1. he might not be a backup if roberts isnt healthy. He had a bad injury and might not be the same when he comes back
  2. Do it and platoon matos with nixon. I was hoping we could have gotten Austin Kearns for one of our pitchers but i doubt that will happen matos could be a great 4th OF
  3. ya id like that move as a 4th OF. Matos has pretty good numbers against lefties and would be a good platoon guy with Trot. looks like the eagle tribune is following crisp untill hes traded some quotes from the article..
  4. looks like curts almost back to being 100% healthy and is in better shape. also has high praise for Beckett and Papelbon. some parts of the conversation http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  5. just read on rotoworld that the orioles disscussed matos for graffanino. It's not going to happen now because of Crisp. i would have been fine with matos batting 9th and playing great D.
  6. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/story.asp?sport=MLB&storyid=19141 top 10 red sox prospects imagine in 5 years... Rotation 1. Beckett 2. Lester 3. Papelbon 4. Buscholz 5. Bowden Bullpen MRP-Martinez MRP-Alvarez SU-Delcarmen CL-Hansen Lineup 1. Ellsbury--CF 2. Pedroia--2B/SS 3. Soto--LF 4. Marte (if not traded)--1ST 5. Moss--RF 6. Shoppach--C 7. Pinckney--3B 8. Egan ???--DH 9. Lowrie--SS/2B
  7. i think lowell hits .290, 30 HR, 115 RBI with around a .880 ops. I haven't read one positive thing about Lowell yet in any article. A lot of people think he'll have the same kinda year he had last year. I expect big things from him in the 6th spot in the order.
  8. snow will be used sparingly and in a pinch-hit, defensive replacement role. He didnt have youk on there as an infielder, whos ops last year was .805. Gonzalez's ops is right around league average and hes good defensively. Who knows, maybe a change of league and team can get lowell's and Snow's ops back up to where it was in 04. You cant say someone is on the decline just looking at 2 years of stats. Trot Nixon isnt on a decline. Nixon's career OPS is .855 and he's never had a year with an OPS under .800 since 1999. He also doesnt mention how good the sox bullpen is or how deep they are for SP. Everything was negative, the whole article was about how the sox infield is old and sucks. Why doesnt he write about the same thing with the yankees rotation.
  9. on mlb.com, the red sox page has a mailbag thing and one of the people asked what happened to petagine reply-- http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060122&content_id=1299200&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos
  10. good question and i have no idea whats up with him
  11. buster olneys take on this whole thing
  12. im not sure about mora since his 33 or 34 years old, but they could keep youk at 3rd and sign Derek Lee
  13. youk can play 3rd and snow 1b. If any two of: lowell, youk and snow, s*** the bed, then were going to have to go out and get somebody. We dont know how good marte will be if he gets called up this year. Last year he did awful.
  14. id like to keep graffanino, but theres no chance we keep to utility infielders on the bench
  15. get riske in the deal with crisp, then trade Arroyo (maybe include randy beam or abe alvarez) to the Reds for Austin Kearns and Joey Votto. this leaves the team with... LINEUP 1. Coco Crisp—CF—S 2. Mark Loretta—2B—R 3. David Ortiz—DH—L 4. Manny Ramirez—LF—R 5. Trot Nixon—RF—L 6. Mike Lowell—3B—R 7. Jason Varitek—C—S 8. Kevin Youkilis—1B—R 9. Alex Gonzalez—SS—R BENCH Josh Bard—C—S Austin Kearns—OF—R Alex Cora—IF—L J.T. Snow—1B—L Willie Harris—UTIL—L BULLPEN MRP—David Riske—R MRP—Lenny Dinardo—L MRP—Rudy Seanez—R SU—Mike Timlin—R SU—Julian Tavarez—R CL—Keith Foulke—R ROTATION 1. Josh Beckett—R 2. Curt Schilling—R 3. Tim Wakefield—R 4. Matt Clement—R 5. Jon Papelbon—R TRADED 1. David Wells for prospects 2. Tony Graffanino for a lefty reliever possible deals... tony g to the rockies for Ray King david wells to the padres for Chase Headley (3B, senior season at Tennesee had 63 BB and 23 K's) and Sean Thompson (lhp, casey fossum like talent)
  16. thats the same deal he signed last year with the sox, right?? 1 year at 1 million?
  17. good article about Covelli Crisp http://www.ecnnews.com/cgi-bin/15/etstory.pl?-sec-Sports+fn-crisp.123 GM's always tend to get that way thought whenever a trade is going to happen. Im hoping if anything happens, we can end up with crisp and riske for marte and mota. Trade Riske to the Reds for Austin Kearns, who could platoon with Trot in RF.
  18. mlbtraderumors what would the Guardians/red sox get back in return for shoppach??
  19. clevelands GMs angry over all the trade talk
  20. miller has a great fastball and a dirty slider. I doubt the Guardians would let him go since hes been there best prospect the last couple of years.
  21. i hope he comes back strong. If he can't stay healthy this year, his career is probably over. might be a solid #4 or 5 back in the NL in the same division he used to pitch in.
  22. there are 3 possible deals out there right now. 1. The boston herald is reporting a deal with marte and mota for crisp. 2. The globe is saying that the deal includes mota, marte and shoppach for crisp, riske and bard. 3. one of the cleveland papers is saying mota, marte and delcarmen for crisp and 2 low-level minor leaguers. if anything, im hoping the second choice is the right one.
  23. im fine with that
