  1. IMHO I think the wheels started to come off of Ellsbury's bycycle when Epstein decided to move him to LF before the 2010 season to, as he put it "save his legs". He then got hurt and missed practically the whole season. Who knows what would have happened had he stayed in center. Yes, he might have gotten hurt out there, but those rib injuries? Most likely not. Then they misdiagnosed his injuries and it cost him the whole season. I just think it would take something very special, a great year for the Red Sox as well as a great season from Jacoby for him to resign with us. Let's just hope he gives us a solid year and helps the team recover from the miserable season they had last year and the miserable experience he had with another major injury. Besides, I think Bradley is the real thing.
  2. Honest question, honest answer......First VA has had problems with 700 and iortiz far longer than I've been on the board. You and I disagree on philosophy and how the team and front office should be run but it hasn't evolved into a pissing contest. We just disagree on things of philosophy. MVP is antagonistic and he and 700 have little love for each other. Just read their exchanges. As for SCM, he is a gullible and naive jerk who actually believes the crap that went on here in 2007 when those Dodger jerks came on here and tried to bug me and were thrown off the board while their board crashed and burned. I was suspended for awhile and voluntarily left on my own after my suspension. I only came back on a year ago last fall. I sent mvp an PM and tried to bring peace to our rivalry but he threw it back in my face and never responded. I now owe him nothing. As for SCM, he doubts I'm a Red Sox fan......totally ridiculous, wouldn't you say? Do I sound like I'm not a Red Sox fan. Hell even VA knows better. She saw me at Fort Myers during ST in 2007. Respect is a two way street. If I'm met half-way I will be more than cooperative, but when it gets personal or my wife and family are brought into it I will not sit still for it. Let's see if at least you and I can move on and deal with each other respectfully. VA put me on ignore and that is fine. I think SCM and mvp should to.
  3. No it would not be a fun project because it is based on total bogus information. If you do that project you will create a war on this board. Back off and don't be stupid, naive and gullible like SCM Jerkoff. I tell you straight out my wife never created anything on this board and I'm asking you to back off. Do not create a war on this board.
  4. First I'm a Reds-Cardinals-Marlins-Dodger fan, then I'm a spoiled 2004 Red Sox fan. You don't know what I am, but I know what you are---a total gullible ******* who will believe anything anyone tells you. Brutal times on this board? I'm still here and the other guys are gone and so is their half-ass Dodger Blues board. As far as the Sawxheads people you're talking about, they've forgotten more baseball than a gullible jerk like you will ever know. Just reading your post convinces me that you're a four pound turd in one pound bag. You once said you would put me on ignore---do it again because every time I hear from you I realize what a naive and pathetic dork you are. For the record fartface, two of those Dodger fans you talk about are now two of my closest friends, and my wife never created anything on this board. That came about because I once made the mistake of giving my E-mail and pass word to a student taking a SAT test because he said he had to send an emergency note to his parents. Turned out he was the stepbrother to some jerk who I threw out of class and flunked because he cheated on a final. I think that even a dork like you knows deep down the s*** you post about me is bogus but then again I have always had you pegged as a naive and gullible jerk, but either way I dont give a damn because you're also an efen loser. Now bug off and do not communicate with me ever again.
  5. My guess is that Aceves is just as ******* who is miserable in his skin and will be unhappy wherever he plays. He wore out his welcome mat in New York and he has worn it out in Boston, but since our front office likes to think of themselves as social workers he is still with us. Sooner or later we will have to get rid of him. He already tried testing Farrell in ST. Of course, don't try telling that to SCM; he thinks Aceves is just fine warts and all.
  6. With all due respect SCM you are splitting hairs and just looking for a beef with me. He wasn't a closer before last year either and yet there he was in that position in 2012. What if one of our short me gets hurt, what then? You dismiss any chance of him being put back in that spot? I don't because they have already done it once. What does that have to do with this year you ask? Well let me ask you, what does his 2011record have to do with this year either? We can only go by his most recent performances and in 2012 he stunk. 25 saves, huh? How many blown saves did he have? A 2-10 record and you are defending him? That's just pure idiotic ********. What about his attitude? You want to dismiss that as well? He was a total prick last season and in my opinion he will start acting up again and we will have to get rid of him. Yes, that's my opinion. As for this "fair weather" crap, you can't be that naive and dumb to believe any of that.. Or are you?
  7. I can't quite figure out if he was Dempster or Dumpster tonight----five innings, three runs and ten K's. Of course, if we had broken through in the first inning and hadn't killed ourselves with those twin killings we might have made some hay off of horse face. Still, I will take two of three from the Yankees any series. Now can we win the next three game set?
  8. Bard sucks worse and Morales is on the shelf and I guess that's why this bum is on the team. I thought Miller and Meatball Aceves were the only two duds we had in the bullpen but I guess we have three. Peronally I think Farrell didn't want to risk one of our better men while we were behind so I guess that is where it's best to use Clayton. I would say though that either him, Aceves or Miller must be able to pitch well or our better relievers might be gassed out by July.
  9. Amen to that Bellhorn. We had better not get too cocky; after all it is only the first two games and 3-0 sounds a helluva lot better than 2-1. We most certainly have to play another good game tonight if we want to win, and unlike the past two games when I was sure we would win, tonight I am only about 55% sure. Not to be trite, but let's take this one game at a time.
  10. He should be fine against the No-show Yankees???? Does that mean you are predicting a win tonight Pal? Notice in my post that you answered that I said "there is no reason why we shouldn't take the hat trick"-----kind of a very luke warm and dishwateryprediction of a win tonight on my part. Unlike the last two games when I came right out and said we win today and tonight, I'm kind of up in the air about the game this evening even though I think we ought to win. So I'll let you predict for both of us tonight.
  11. Lord Snow, since the Angels and Dodgers play out where I live I think I can add some tidbits to this conversation. For the Angels, they are totally desperate to get back to the World Series. To them 2002 seems like light years away, and it was AFTER that season that Arte Moreno, known out here in the press as Angry Arte, bought the team. They have won many AL West Division titles but always seem to be short circuited in the ALDS or ALCS and Moreno wants into the Fall Classic. They seem weak in the backend of their rotation and their bullpen might be suspect. They have a lot of money tied up in two stars---Hamilton and Pujols and maybe they can bat their way to the Series. At least they give the impression that they might have what it takes even though they had a very miserable Spring Training Record. The Dodgers seem to be a team with a bunch of parts that just don't fit. They looked dead again last night against the Giants, both in the stands and on the field. Beckett was bombed for two big homers and their hitters were something like 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position. Kemp and Gonzales have one hit between them in three games and it seems to be that Adrian doesn't like to play in front of big crowd out here any more than he did in Boston. Both teams are trying to buy their way into the World Series and I can only hope that both fall on their collective faces.
  12. That was like a bolt out of the blue Jung and very surprised SCM came out with that kind of s***. It is almost like he was in suspended animation most of last season when Aceves kept blowing saves and getting his ass reamed with those meatballs he was throwing up there. He was pure horseshit on the mound by the summer of last year and his attitude was even worse. He is no closer---that was one of my main points and, yes, I don't like to see him in there with less than a five or six run lead. Both he and Miller give me the hives. Anyone who can defend Aceves over what he did last season ought to have his head examined because he was a total dickhead, pure and simple. When he threw that meatball last night to Wells it brought back miserable memories of so many of his piss poor jobs last season. As for SFF, bringing up Bard was idiotic. Yes, his first performance in 2011 was bad and from then on he did very well. I didn't criticize him but I certainly could have because the last month of the 2011 season he was as s***** as Aceves was last year. He lost nine games for us in 2011 and on a half dozen occasions surrendered a lead he interited. Surprised SFF brought him up at all. Anyway, I hope that clears this up.
  13. A MUST sweep? Maybe not Palodios but it would make a real statement for us not to have a letdown and keep playing solid baseball for the hat trick. I just think no matter how good or bad the Yankees may be, when the Red Sox beat them the team just seems to grow in confidence. No reason why we shouldn't get that hat trick tomorrow. Just hope Dempster pitches like Dempster and not Dumpster.
  14. Glad to hear your son is ok Ted. I got a little worried when you said you had to take him to the hospital. Now you can look after your boy and still enjoy what happened on the ballfield tonight even if Miserable Miller and f*** You Aceves (that's for you irotiz. That's his name from now on) tried to spoil things for us.
  15. I said exactly the same thing when Wells hit that three run job off of that *******. He and Miller could be shaping up as the weak links to our bullpen even though f*** You Aceves can pitch well occasionally. Miller I have no confidence in at all.
  16. You bet---and he is. He's behind 4-1 in the 4th inning. Panda took him out of the yard.
  17. Miller is who he is----a guy with a live arm but no mechanics, no smarts and questionable guts. He has failed every place he's been and to me the guy is a time bomb. The sooner we can bury him in the bullpen for mop up work the better we'll be.
  18. I don't mind Aceves pitching for us---AS LONG AS WE HAVE A SIX RUN LEAD OR MORE. !!! Now you know why this guy must never be put in a close situation ever again....NEVER. This guy is capable of giving up the big homer on the drop of a hat.
  19. What you or Jopete or 700 Hitter or iortiz or I do will have nothing to do with who wins tonight. The Red Sox must remember that Monday's high is over and now it is time for business again. I can only use the Dodgers out where I live as a perfect example of getting your feet touching the ground. Like us they won a dramatic game on Monday. Their fans were high, the players full of spirit, the announcers cheery, the owners out of their minds. Last night, not to good. They look like death warmed over, no spirit in the dugout, the fans laid back and cheering at pop flies, and they were made monkeys of by Madison Bumgarner. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN TO US TONIGHT. NO RUBBER MATCH TOMORROW. TONIGHT WE ONCE AGAIN WIN!!!!!!!! The Red Sox players must dig in and make a statement and if they do they will win tonight.
  20. The fact is Ortiz is a slow starter most of the time even with a full Spring Training and a slew of games. He has NONE this season and if and when he is ready will most likely be put in the heart of the lineup. That could be catastophic because if he doesn't hit we would be a lot worse off with him in there than either Gomes or Bradley. And we certainly need Gomes in there against LH pitchers who he normally eats up. I also wonder if Farrell would have the courage to sit Papi down against southpaws or bench him entirely if he stinks up the joint. Remember FrancoMa couldn't bring himself to do that in 2009 when Ortiz had his first big washout. Some pundit writing for the Globe estimated that because of all the men Papi left on base and his total lack of production the team lost about seven or eight games they could have won in the early going. Also remember we were ahead by three at the ASB. I think we could have used a half dozen more games ahead of the Yankees by that time. As for Iggy, one game does not make a season. We have to see in the early going if he is going to be able to hit, bunt for hits, beat out infield hits and hit an occasional rope or two. If he does the team will then have to make a decision, though I'm still convinced that Drew could play a decent enough SS and give us more bang for the buck at the plate. We'll see.
  21. Corection Pal......Unless David Ross switched positions at the plate, he hits righthanded. Otherwise your take on things bear watching. I just wonder if Ortiz is going to have a very slow month or two before he gets his timing. He has had slow stats before and that seems to be a problem for power hitters who have a long swing and swing from their heels.
  22. Jopete and Jason, frankly Miller kind of pissed me off yesterday. I was feeling real high and then this guy walks the first two batters he faces. Hell a three run lead isn't bad but now the tieing run is at the plate with no outs. Glad Farrell took him out with two outs because a homer by Youk and we would have had a brand new ball game and all of us would be reaching for the bi-carb.
  23. It seems to be a head scratcher Bell. My only guess is that they looked at his age and believed he couldn't repeat that type of relief pitching. It sure looked like a bargain pickup for us yesterday and I heard he had a pretty good ST, though I don't know what his ERA was down in Florida.
  24. Let me add my three cents to this Jung and Dojii. A win over the Yankees is always a big win as far as I'm concerned, and none of us should believe that the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry is going slowly by the boards. It most certainly isn't from where I sit and I suspect most of you feel the same way. I'm told there is a very open and friendly clubhouse this season and I can take the word of those who are saying it because I saw it in the dugout during the game and on the field with the hustle shown by Gomes, Ells, Jackie, Iggy and the whole bunch. It is only one game, sure, but for whatever reason the team seems to have decided they are going to bust their tails for John Farrell and that is an even better sign. Now it is up to Clay Buchholz and the gang to take care of business tomorrow. It is a long season, sure, but these April games count just as much in the win column as they do in September. Aggressive base running, solid defense, and timely hitting can really help our pitching staff if they are up to it and yesterday they were. The task is simple--We win tomorrow!!!!!!!!
  25. I saw what was going on in our dugout today and I was damn impressed by the spirit of the team that I hardly saw at all last year. It looks like John Farrell might have an elixir our team needed badly, and he apparently has had a very positive reaction from the pitchers who showed up early in ST and have done a helluva job up to now. Today we seemed like a totally different team that the one I saw and despised last season.
