Wow guys, is a little panic setting in? I'm normally on the ledge but this time let me be a calming influence if I might. Middlebrooks is pressing; perhaps in his own mind he feels he needs to be hitting up a storm in lieu of others not doing their job. When he settles in and stops swinging at bad pitches and realizes you can climb out of a hole with one swing he will settle down. It is going to take Drew a little while to get his timing back. He is no doubt pressing himself but I notice his defense has been pretty good so he is not taking his hitting out to the field with him. A few good games and I think they will be back in form. My worry is at catcher. Salty does not hit nearly well enough to cover for his strikeouts and sub-par defense and Ross is good with the glove but miserable with the bat. That and the backend of our rotation might be the difference for us this season in my opinion.

The saga of Bard reads like a Shakesperian tragedy but it is hard to who to place the blame on for this. Is is Bard who insisted that he could be a starter, was in Cherington who backed this all the way, or was it something else? I do remember that he started getting hammered pretty hard during that miserable September in 2011 when the team fell apart. He was a big part of that collapse. I wonder if he started losing it then. Personally, I really don't blame Cherington for that at all. Subsequent events have passed to have g iven Bard the opportunity to work his way out the mess he was in, but instead he seems to be running in place. I also wonder if had be not been converted into a starter would be have been that effective as our closer? I really think his troubles began before he went to ST as a starter in 2012.

4/21 vs Kansas City Game 2

Ted, it is high time for me to have my Mea Culpa on Victorino. In my now lame defense I was going by what I saw of him in LA last summer where he didn't look good at all at the plate. Was his injuries an excuse or was he really hurting and playing not at peak strength? It has to have been the latter because I have been very impressed with him this season. He looks like the old Shane and I actually had the creeps knowing he wasn't going to play yesterday. The results might have spoken for themselves. We need this guy back in there and as quickly as humanly possible. -
There are places all around Fenway Park where you can get a beer, but you Alabamans like Italian food there is no better place in the country than Boston's North End. Dozens of great restaurants serving the best Italian food in the world. You can get directions to get there but I usually walked there from my hotel to build my appetite, but you can take the Red Line to Government Center and walk a few blocks into the Italian section. I guarantee you will not find better Italian food anywhere as good.

Hey Beatz, does that really make you feel better after what happened to us today? I don't think it really does. We should have had a split today, don't you think? -

Unless Farrell is stubborn like some former manager of ours I don't think you will see Miller in those high leverage situations again. He never has been able to harness his ability and unless someone in the organization really still loves this guy it might be time to either send him away or use him as a mop man in hopeless causes. Tonight was not such a cause and once again he was found wanting. And what gives with Victorino? When is he going to be ready to get back on the field. Anyone have any updates on his condition? -

Stat---IMHO I don't see John Farrell ever using Miller in such a situation again. He has done a good job for us and most of this calls have been good. Perhaps had we hit better and not made so many dumb mistakes like Ciricaco's for example, we could have won this game in regular time. Miller simply cannot be trusted in a tie game or even one with less than a four run lead. Someone in the organization must like this guy simply because he is still with us. What I hope I never hear from Farrell is the old refrain "I don't want to lose him". That was in the past and in Miller's case losing him might be addition by subtraction. He ruined my f***ing day. -

Unfortunaely SoxSport baseball is a game of routine and habits and trends. Today it seems all teams follow that pattern or one inning per reliever. It wasn't always this way but it is kind of monkey see, monkey do and all teams are doing it. What we have to keep our eye on is whether John Farrell ever entrusts the disgusting Andrew Miller into a contest with the game on the line. He should be sent down or released and no one should worry that if we did that he would wind up on the Yankees. The guy has no business pitching is such a situation. The first game we lost; we didn't play poorly, the Royals played better. The second game we played like s*** in my opinion. Like the old movie "BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK" this was our bad day. We must stop the bleeding tomorrow and get back with it, and will some of the guys start hitting again? -

That is a better way to get over games but I don't drink and my way is lot shittier and rotten. My daughter and wife were away this weekend for a MS walk and just after the game my daughter called me. I said I couldn't talk to her now and hung up. This is one time I will admit that right at that moment I was a total *******. f*** you Andrew Miller. -

You here all the time how the pitchers catch up to a hitter and then the guy craters. That has been Nava's history the past two seasons, but I wonder if it can also run in reverse, that a hitter can adjust to the pitchers. I certainly think that may be possible in Nava's case. He is swinging with authority and good production. Now if we could get a couple of others hitting it could bode even better for our club. Winning has been great but so many close games. It kind of wears you out watching them. You sometimes feel you've gone through a hurricane in that last inning. -
And by the way, why the hell are you up so late. It's 1:30 a.m. where you live. Don't you ever turn in?
-
I'm not going to respond with anything but expletives if you keep making lying and totally inaccurate statements about me----statements you have to know are false. You are trying to goad me into getting pissed off and you will succeed with the way you're going about it. Try a different tack and we can argue the pros and cons like gentlemen. I'll tell you this one more damn time. I became a Red Sox fan in 2000 and I live and die with them, sometimes I can't bear to watch them on TV and have to leave the room because I get the shakes. The second thing you have to know and get through that head of yours is that I am not a Dodger fan, haven't been since they left Brooklyn and at this point in my life can't stand them. It would have been great for them to beat the Orioles in that DH to help the Red Sox but I despise them so much I was rooting for the O's. Now let's see if this crap can end. I will be more than happy to treat you with respect if you will show me the same courtesy by not trying to get my goat.
-
Kiss my ass dickweed. I told you before that this s*** can stop provided you cease with these nasty and inaccurate descriptions of me, but you insist on keeping it up. I know it has gotten very personal on your end and I will call you out on it every time you do. Sooner or later you will cease and desist and just leave me the hell alone or I'll make you look like even a bigger gullible piece of s*** than you are. How the hell you can still believe that I am not a Red Sox fan makes me believe that you have s*** for brains. Even mvp, who I argue with as much as I do you, even he knows I'm a Red Sox fan. You can't help yourself. Most pricks can't.
-
My Dodgers? f*** You, you gullible worthless piece of s***. You can keep this up but I'll be coming at you with a helluva lot invective than you'll be able to take. It's your choice shitface. You stop and this pissing contest will end. You can't be that f***ing dumb that you actually believe the s*** you're posting about me. If so you are one of the two most pathetic excuses on this board. And for the record turdman I said Cherington's signing of Napoli was a good move as was his signing of Drew and Uehara, but that slipped by your alleged mind. Keep posting this crap and I will answer in kind. What a putz you are.

Jung, so far so good as far as the season shapes up so far. I think two things are needed. Three or four of our guys have to start hitting more consistently and we need a closer who doesn't put us in the cardiac ward. How about Koji or Taz? -

Percival was the Angels closer in 2002 and he was no rookie but a five or six year veteran. Other than that your arguments makes a lot of sense. -

How did the Orioles come up with Jim Johnson? He was a mediocre starter and long man when someone in that organization suggested they try him as reliever. He then became a shutdown closer and is now one of the best in baseball. Why the hell can't we come up with one again. Hanrahan and Bailey give me the shakes. Could Koji be given a shot at it and maybe Taz? You would think that sooner or later these Perils of Pauline will catch up to us. -

Doj, you're getting to look more and more like a philopher-king. Maybe you or someone else can tell where has his power come from all of a sudden. I remember a granny he hit against the Phils a couple of years back and then no more. And, what only one last season? Now he has four and two of them have won games for us. Maybe it will be the other way around this time. Instead of the pitchers catching up with him as in the two previous seasons, this time he has caught up to them and the experience has made him a very good hitter. Now if only two or three others would go on a tear to make it a little easier on our pitching staff. And anyone for Keji being given a shot at closer? Hanrahan and now Bailey are giving all of us heart trouble. -
It doesn't seem to be working in LA either. Some of the averages are good but they have scored the fewest runs of any team in baseball save the Marlins---47 in 17 games. I heard that tonight driving home from Mass. So the hits may be coming but the runs aren't. We, OTOH, seem to get enough hits when they count to pull games out in the early going, but truth be told some of our guys must start hitting better. Clay could have used a couple of extra runs earlier today.

In light of the events the past two weeks it seems we may have been guilty of rushing Jackie up to the Red Sox because of his terrific Spring down in Florida. Hitting pitching in Big League game is different and sending they young man down should get him the experience and at-bats needed to get him up to speed. IMO I think this young man is headed for stardom and he must be handled right. Let him play down at Pawtucket for a few months and if he shows what he can do we can always bring him up sometime during the summer. No was should he give up on himself or us on him.
-
Perhaps not BTR but you have to keep in mind that I've seen this guy pitch two years ago out here in Los Angeles and he wasn't impressive then at all. His ball was flat, he got behind the hitters and he got hit pretty hard. Yes, he is still very young, has a very live arm and could develop but he looks to be the same pitcher he was two seasons ago, plus he lost some velocity because of TJ surgery. Pedro Martinez thinks he may be a comer so, like you, he disagrees with me as well. Well hopefully I'm wrong, wouldn't be the first time nor the last. BTW, I hear Alan Webster has been called up and will pitch in the second game of the DH tomorrow. He seems to have a higher upside.

And Jung and RSFanfor Life, that goes for me too. If he stops there will be no more of this. I don't like this anymore than my friend 700 Hitter does, but notice who started this crap. I'm willing; that guy has to do the same. I don't get personal unless someone gets personal with me. And I'd rather talk Red Sox baseball than get in a pissing contest with a very frustrated and seemingly unhappy person. Now how about rooting the Red Sox on today for a nice victory over the Royals? Can we at least all agree on that?:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: -

Thanks again Ted for having my back.....again. I swear to God I don't know what that guy's problem is. For my part I, like most of us, am deeply saddened at what's happened the past few days. Three people, including an eight year, are dead and hundreds injured and many have lost arms and legs and some of those might not survive. If I knew my post was going to cause this ruckus I would have s***-canned it post-haste. Time to put this to bed and get ready for a ballgame tomorrow. Today's postponment of the game would have worried me if had happened last year but from what I've seen this year's team is not a fragile one and very resilient. Hopefully I'm proved right tomorrow. In the meantime my prayers and best wishes go out to those who suffered in this act of terrorism. -

Aw hell Youk, you're right but it's the first thing that came to mind when I read that nasty post. He had no right to suddenly come on the board when he hadn't been here for days and mentioned nothing about the tragedy that had taken place and then attack me for not being sympathetic to what happened. Hell, if I had my way that guy they captured would never come to trial. Two mistakes I made. One I should have used a smilie--which I didn't, and, seconly, I should not brought myself down to that guy's level by getting even nastier. And no more fart face. I'll remember that next time. -

It was tongue in cheek Youk, nothing more. I was attempting to add a little humor where there has been nothing but tragedy for the past few days. I knew mvp wouldn't understand, that little prick, but sorry you didn't get it either. Ass for that guy, he and one other poster have made it a cottage industry to come after me with a lot of mean spirited ******** and I'm not going to take it from either one of them. I don't like to go toe to toe with anyone on this board but I'm not going to allow myself to be a pinata for some dipshit who wasn't even on the board at all when all this violence went down. His point was not to defend what the city's leaders were doing but to throw a bomb at me. I hope you now get it.
