  1. Ted, I probably came down to his level by even answering that jerk, but he is one of two posters on this board who have decided to take aim at me and I'm not going to stand for it. My post was about as tongue in cheek as I could manage and maybe a smilie might have helped. That we would attack me makes me understand why he has been a failure in every place he's been. There was no cause for him to do that, but I almost want to kick myself for bringing myself down to his miserably low level.
  2. f*** you fart face, you miserable loser. I really don't give damn what a turd like you thinks, you rotten piece of s***. Tell me dickweed, did your parents have any kids that lived? Your miserable missive to me just proves beyond a doubt that you're a loser, always have been and always will be. I think your Ex would totally agree with that. I would also advise you that it will be tit for tat from here on in. Better not communicate with me unless you want a war, and worry about not losing another job.
  3. When I heard the game was cancelled Ted, I got pissed off and had to change my clothes. What a pisser. I had one of my favorite Red Sox outfits my wife had gotten me the past year through the team gift store----red and navy Red Sox tennis shoes with whites sox and the Red Sox logo, Red Sox Nation tee shirt and matching red shorts with a navy belt with a nice Red Sox buckle. I was dressed to kill tonight--very wierd for a plus 70 year old, I know. Then they let his slimy prick close down the entire town and postpone the game. When they catch this dickweed they ought to be able to tell everyone that he was killed "trying to escape" with about 50 slugs rattling his rotten body.
  4. I almost forgot this was a "shoring up the rotation" thread Ted. I just hope that Papi is not real stale and his timing way off when he gets into the lineup. We know only too well what he is capable of not doing when he is not ready and hi timing is off. As for DeLaRosa, the guy IS a shank, male version. The guy is not worth much and I doubt if he ever will be. He throws and doesn't know how to pitch. The Dodgers lost nothing when they dumped him on us. Barring a miracle or unforseen circumstances he is going to be nothing but a white elephant to us.
  5. Maybe Palodios. Remember Papi hasn't had too many at-bats this Spring and he's a slow starter to begin with. If he can get off to a decent start, then yes, he will be a great addition to our lineup. What we can't afford is a start for Papi like 2008, 2009 and 2010. As for Carp I hope he gets some extended at-bats. He might be a diamond for us that we didn't know we had.
  6. Loved the way Koji blew away Swisher in the 8th inning BTR, but these umpires. Do they even have a friggin strike zone? They were all over the place tonight and I think they cost Lester a good dozen pitches. Pitching is tough enough without having to work overtime because the guy behind the plate doesn't seem to know what the strike zone is.:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
  7. Oh please Youk, don't say we have a hell of an easy schedule coming up. You pasta mojo is working fine, don't get the gods angry at us. If the teams we're going to play are not as good as the ones we've been playing, fine. Just let's keep it to ourselves on the board. I do get the impression that this Red Sox team thinks they can beat anyone. I didn't see any thing of the kind with last season's ensemble.
  8. Well that went over like a turd in the punchbowl MJ. I don't think we will see Gomes going against a righty too many more times. I would like to see him start hitting against the lefties though. He, Drew, Middlebrooks, Ciriaco and even Salty when he is not hitting a homer need to get more consistent to help carry the load. Still we find a way to prevail. Lester didn't seem to have his "A+" stuff tonight but he battled and pitched very well anyway, and that has to be the ticket. Anytime he or Buchholz are on the hill, those are the games we really have to win; won't win all of them but we sure need win the vast majority. Another good night.;);)
  9. Hope I'm posting on the legal game thread BTR. Last it seemed the Guardians went into the game as the favorite since they were throwing their ace and we our fill-in starter operating as our No. 5 man. Still Aceves pitched pretty damn good ball for five innings until he ran out of gas in the sixth. I bring that up because tonight it seems we may have the advantage with Jon on the mound, but we had better not take anything for granted. If Lester pitches well and the Red Sox give him solid support we ought to turn in the hat-trick tonight, but we should take nothing for granted. We must not take the Guardians lightly and keep plugging away---one game at a time...right?????
  10. We beat a good pitcher last night and in my opinion we have nothing to complain about and, in fact, should be elated that Aceves pitched well enough to get us a win in a game where we may have been the underdog. That being said, that's now history. Tonight we need Jon Lester to go out there and get us another hat trick. One game at a time.
  11. He looks to me like he's pressing. A few hits falling in would be a big help. We may need him to start hitting soon because, keep in mind, Ortiz is usually a very slow starter and he may come back and be very stale at the plate. What then? Do we platoon him and risk getting him mad and hurt the morale of this team? So we need Will to start hitting and hope when Carp gets another chance he shows that last night was not a one trick pony.
  12. Fred's wrong again was uncalled for---especially since I said that I believed that Aceves might actually be decent as a starter since that is what he has always wanted to do. You have had a beef with me since I came back on this board, first you questioned my loyalty to the Red Sox, then made cruddy comments about the picture next to my name, then came out with those ridiculous pictures that some ******* made of me through some wierd commuter graphics, then said you enjoyed giving me s***. You stop this crap and I will stop it. You made crude comments and get pissed off when I come back with even nastier ones. Again, stop this s*** and I will be more than willing to reciprocate. i don't enjoy this typeof stuff and I would bet that if we stop this s*** we'd find something or two to agree on.
  13. Don't kid yourself MJ, I'd venture to say a whole bunch of us on this board are knocking on wood---I sure as hell am. So far, so good though. We have finally gotten off to a decent start and have taken on the rivals in our division and held our own. I think the whole league is wide open, especially since the Angels have gotten off to such a slow start and only the Tigers seem poised to be the hired killer of the bunch. They, too, though, have their weaknesses. If the Red Sox take it one game at a time and try not to look too far ahead we may actually play some very important games this September. Wouldn't that be a real hoot.
  14. You know Ted, I remarked to a few of our colleagues here a week or so ago that it was possible Aceves might actually do better as a starter than as a bullpen man and you just said why. He has always wanted the opportunity to start and in a game where the mind plays such a big part it could be a comfort zone for him. He hasn't set the world on fire but he has pitched well and he beat Masterson, the Guardians' ace last night. Perhaps as he starts a few more games he will be able to go deeper into the contest, say six or seven innings. No matter what some have said about him in the past, and I am one of them, we just might turn out to need this guy and I want him with his head screwed on right. We might get some big wins from him with that mindset, and also keep in mind that one of our starters could do down during the season and we will need Alfredo ready to step in most any time.
  15. Not at all Dojii. Alfredo pitched very well until he ran out of gas in the sixth inning. Well hell, he hadn't been pitching deep innings before he was put in the rotation and most likely will have to be stretched out more in order to go deeper into games. Remember, he took on the Guardians' ace and beat him. That's worth a lot right there. The guy is basically a reliever but he might actually be more effective as a starter. It is a nice problem to have.
  16. Once again, a helluva good point by you Pal. Let's give some kuddos to our pitching staff right about now. This was supposed to be our achilles heel, and you yourself said "need pitching" at the bottom of your posts. Keep it there, though, because we need our pitching to keep doing what they've been doing, which is pitching lights out. If there is any cause for concern it is keeping the staff healthy and hoping the bottom end of the rotation can do deeper into games. I don't want the bullpen gassed by August. Tonight we have Jon Lester going and that is good for us, but just a tad of a caution. The Guardians had Masterson and his 3-0 and terrific ERA going for them last night against our Aceves who hadn't pitched all that well----and Alfredo won. So there is nothing automatic about tonight's game. Suffice to say, though, if Jon pitches to his capabilities and we play the ball like we've been playing we ought to turn another hat trick tonight.;);)
  17. Fred's wrong again!!!!! You know if you were paying attention and reading all the posts instead of playing with yourself Douchebag you would have seen that I said that Aceves might actually pitch well as a starter since that has always been his preference. If you're going to try and pan me at least get your head out of your ass and be accurate in what you mumble you sad and sorry puke.
  18. iortiz, possibly Aceves might be better disposed to be a starter than a reliever as I hinted at a few days ago. I have heard he has always wanted to start and maybe when he gets stretched out he can go more than five, but it's great to see the bullpen do the job its doing. Keep in mind that our rotation has broken down at times since the 2005 season, the only time it stayed intact was in 2004 so we might need Aceves to do some spot starting from h ere on in. Now the question is twofold.....Can we get Will and Drew hitting and can we finish the job tomorrow and have Lester help us get another hat trick?
  19. LA has become more intense the past few years compared to their laid-back and dull countenance for decades, but for intensity they can't hold a candle to Boston. That's the point you made and it is on the mark. Most players can play in LA with their flunky press that seldom criticizes anyone and is in the pocket of the team, and many fans go there just for the giveaway days. In Boston you better have thick skin and play your ass off or you will hear it from press, media and the fans.
  20. The hint there that it was Francona and you might be right. We do know he was distracted badly with health issues, a crumbling marriage and scared for his son about to be deployed to Afghanistan during ST of 2011. I've always said that he should have been replaced after the 2009 season. He was kept on two seasons too long. Having said that may I make a suggestion SoxSport that someone made to me. We need to move on from Tito. He is in Cleveland now and except when he plays the Red Sox we ought to wish him well. No matter how we rate the man's managerial acumen the fact is he was at the helm when the Sox won two World Series. Time to deal with the present and it seems Farrell is doing a good job in the early going. This team is likeable and fun to watch.
  21. You can have the 9-4 record RS. I'll take 10-4 any time. Aceves might just be a five inning pitcher right now but he did throw well until the last part of the 5th inning and then collapsed in the sixth with two meatball pitches. He either is exactly that, a five inning pitcher or he needs to be stretched out in his next start or two. Glad he got the win, though and 15 hits were terrific. Too bad Will, Salty and Drew got none of them. As for Carp, maybe Farrell and Cherington saw something in him because he really hit the hell out of the ball tonight. Maybe we got something there we didn't know we had. Last year Ciriaco, this year Carp? You never know.;);)
  22. Then there are the Griffeys, the Boones and the Bells who churned out kids and grand kids who played very good baseball. Really, there is no set pattern how this works out between parents and siblings on the diamond. For my part, we need Steven Drew to play good shortstop for us as he against the Rays on Monday and start getting some key hits for us. The double he got that day would be a good start, maybe two or three of them. We can sure use some lusty hitting since we haven't gotten much the past few games.
  23. I've seen it twice and will see it again Wednesday with my friend Stan. Well done but with a few inaccuracies. Robinson's homer at Pittsburgh on Sept. 17, 1947 did NOT clinch the pennant for Brooklyn. They won it around the 25th or 26th when the Cardinals lost a night game that put them on top. Gene Hermanski was a LH hitter, not a righty and Bragan was not the starting catcher, Bruce Edwards was. And key players like Joe Hatten, Pete Reiser, and Carl Furillo were never mentioned while Spider Jorgensen was only once. You'll please pardon me for splitting hairs but when I was a kid living in Queens I was about as rabid a Dodger fan as I am now a Red Sox one.
  24. Pretty damn good BTR-----hey Ted, maybe you ought to start worrying about this lady. When she can come up with pearls like that you have to think you might have a battle on your hands. Great job.....that's about as close as you can get to perfection and it tells me that maybe Dempster could be that No. 3 starter we need so badly.
  25. Well Drew better start getting some hits soon. We all know he wasn't really ready to come up and start playing from the get-go since he had only 11 or so AB's after missing over three weeks of play. It wasn't his fault he was rushed but the results have shown that he needed more time at Pawtucket to get his timing down. I'd give him another week and if we don't see some hits start flying around the ball parks consider bringing up Iggy or giving Ciriaco a shot at shortstop for a spell. We can't have black holes in the lineup especially since a few of our guys have been blowing hot and cold so far.
