  1. How about you telling us how you really feel NC84. That was a classic. I'm holding my sides laughing.
  2. I been feeling pretty good all day SFF and it does take a little sting out of it to know that Verlander only went five as well. We still will need our starters to go deeper in games than they did last season to help keep the bullpen sharp and ready. I also thought he would go in the sixth since he finished strong in the fifth, but I think that was fine with Farrell. I got the feeling he was itching to show off his bullpen and except for Miller's two opening walks they pitched lights out. Now we need Clay to go out there Wednesday and pitch six or seven blowout innings. Two in a row over the Yanks would be a real confidence builder from where I'm sitting
  3. In fact Jacko I heard driving home from a high school game tonight that the Dodgers are ready to open up their bloated wallets to give Kershaw half of Los Angeles. Your Yankees had better save their money for Cano as well because rumor has it the Dodgers have their greedy eyes out for him as well.
  4. I'm watching that game right now here in So. Cal. It is 2-0 now. Here I am watching two teams that I despise. Go figure.
  5. Good to see a fellow Southern Californian on this board besides me. Great game today, right? Let's make this the start of something good. Where abouts in So. Cal do you live?
  6. I usually show respect for the Yankees because of their winning traditions and the fact that historically they have made my days miserable with the way they have given the Red Sox a bad time and to the Brooklyn Dodgers when I was a kid in Queens. To their fans, though, I don't have all that respect because a lot of them are a damn bunch of front runners. Did you see all those empty seats by the 8th inning? By the ninth they were fleeing like rats---and it wasn't to beat the traffic. Three subway lines running four or five minutes each time out get you out of there fast and the car traffic moves well too. Bad as we were last year Red Sox fans did not flee like a bunch of mice in the barn. It was very noticeable and it kind of pissed me off seeing fans act like that..
  7. I'm re-checking the game thread BSN since I don't post during games. Cannot multi-task worth a damn. You were off by a run today.......go to your room!!!!!! For the record, I had the pegged 6-3 so I am already in my room. Good day all around.
  8. Not to mention that we will feel a helluva lot better than Yankee fans the rest of the day and tomorrow. If Buchholz pitches as he did in Spring Training we could go up 2-0, and that is what I expect just as I expected a victory today. Hey, tell the truth Palodios, didn't you really feel we would win today? I just knew it last night. The one wart in all this is that I wished Lester could have gone more than five innings. No problem now but I don't want to see this thing get to be a habit for our starters. We don't want them gassed by August. Now let's make it two in a row on Wednesday. I don't get on the game threads during the game Pal. I'm simply a single task person. I let my wife Linda do the multi-tasking. GOOD DAY ALL AROUND.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
  9. VA Witch is five pounds of sludge in a one pound bag. And don't be surprised if she was the one who got you banned before. I've heard it from two other posters that she likes to run off to the moderators to complain when her feelings get hurt. Of course, she can be sarcastic but lo and behold if someone pulls her chain she goes ballistic. Let's just ignore her from here on in. Like mvp she makes me sick.
  10. You have something there. I didn't know the state had so many run down areas. The Eastern part looks like one big slag heap.
  11. I've been trying to ignore this creep all day. Notice he has kept making snotty remarks to just about every post I've made. The guy reminds me of that Frank Sinatra song, done in reverse. When Francis Albert talks about making it anywhere if he can make it in New York, our little misanthrope hasn't made it anywhere, not in Boston, not in LA, not in Virginia, not in Brooklyn. I wonder how many times the guy has been married. A real sad case, short about ten cards in the deck.
  12. Know what would be a better sign Palodios? That they keep up the good work and take it to the Yankees tomorrow and Tuesday. Then we will really know we have something there. And it is a good sign.
  13. That's the way I feel and I only have to go back to the most recent past for feeling that way. We opened our home season (4th game) against the Yankees, got beaten good, then blew a nine run lead the next day and lost the series. A rainout on Sunday might have saved us a three game embarrassment. NO--this season we let the Yankee fans go back home to Westchester, New Jersey, Long Island or to their Bronx abodes and let them feel low and disappointed. We win tomorrow!!!!!!
  14. Agreed Dojii. This thread should be sent into exile. Let' get to some real baseball. Onto the game threads.
  15. That's very good news Sox Sport since I never thought much of the guy. However, my enthusiasm is tempered because of previous RedSox contretemps. We have DFA's many players, saw them pass through unclaimed and then saw them right back in our organization like a bad dream. If he passes through unclaimed for Pete's sake just release him. He won't be any better the second or third time around.
  16. Jung, I'm very provincial, only care about the Red Sox and as long as our hands are clean let the fans of other teams sweat it out. You'd understand my point if you were living out here in the Los Angeles area and had to endure the bunch of propaganda BS I had to read about in the LA Times and Pasadena Star News this morning. All this talk about a Freeway World Series between the Angels and Dodgers. It is if I almost wish after reading your post that if the hammer comes down should the rumors prove true that those two teams in my neighborhood get it in the shorts. Talk about trying to buy a WS Title.
  17. That's the way I'm reading it SCM. I would hope our hitting is good enough so that we don't have to count on three or four guys to carry the load. Jacoby has to come back and have a big season while Victorino must show that 2012 was not the beginning of a long decline for him. My other hope is that this season the starters will go deeper in their starts so the bullpen isn't gassed out my August. I like football, basketball and hockey, but I've had enough of that for awhile. I am looking forward to baseball, to me the greatest game of all. And a Red Sox comeback this year.
  18. Wow Ted, not much to get excited about with those predictions. Kuddos to you for being hard hitting and honest to a fault even though the Dragon Lady might put you on ignore too after reading your post. I think the team will do better than that. I kind of think they can make it to at least third place in the AL East and if they get off to a good start even better than that. Despite some of the crap you might have read from tweedle dee and tweedle dumb I'm really an optimist at heart. Tried to call you tonight and got your voice mail. I couldn't find the ignore button here. Maybe you can tell me how to get to it on this board because there are two people here I cannot deal with anymore. They make me sick. Have a happy Easter my friend.
  19. What they said when he was signed was that he killed lefthanders and was going to be a platoon left fielder unless he showed he could play every day, and the latter happened after Kalish went on the shelf again. We all know he is not too swift defensively but as a DH against lefties he could be ok if they decided to go with Jackie in LF. The joker in the deck is Nava. I never thought he would be in the mix when ST started but I keep thinking someone in the organization likes this kid because he seems like a cold that just doesn't want to go away. If Bradley is sent down now or later I guess we have Nava and Gomes in LF with Carp doing the DHing, but that doesn't make much sense to me either. I guess we better let Farrell work this out. BTW, I have liked what I've seen from our new manager. What do you guys think?
  20. SS and Thunder----the Bradley, Ells and Vic outfield should be a good one defensively if we can keep them all healthy, especially Ells. However, we are going to need Gomes' bat in the early going. He mashes lefties, at least he has in the past, and from what I see we're going to be facing a few of them during the opening few series.
  21. Jung---I got that reason or excuse from my main foil an hour or so ago. It is true that hitting is harder in the Spring when it is colder, but the Yankees didn't seem to have too much trouble hitting in cold weather and neither did the Orioles or Blue Jays. I just don't think Red Sox fans should use that as an excuse unless most of the teams we face are having the same problem. Well if our pitching is as good as it has looked this Spring maybe we can get by with fewer runs, or maybe this Spring the team will hit better. As for Bradley, yes, he will be facing ML pitchers who will change speeds and throw breaking pitches on any count, but I think this guy is the real thing, and who really wants Gomes playing LF in Yankee Stadium, a treacherous place for left fielders in the old park and the new? AAA ball would help Jackie but right now I think we need him badly what with both Ortiz and Drew missing from the starting lineup and whether Ellsbury is totally fit to go full speed on Monday.
  22. Or naivety either un. But keep trying though. It's hard to overcome both naivety and stupidity but keep plugging away. Maybe you'll even be able to come up with an original thought yourself one of these years.
  23. Well at least you came up with an opinion even if I think you're full of crap. Their pitching was supposed to be good enough in 2010 when the theme was "run prevention". Remember that Brooklyn boy? In 2011 pundits and baseball magazines were saying the Red Sox rotation was one of the best in baseball while Lester was predicted my many to win the Cy Young Award that year. So your reasons go down the s*** crapper two out of three times. So it is you who have also made up some cock and bull story that checks out accurately only for last season. Our pitching was supposed to be very solid in both 2010 and 2011 otherwise they wouldn't have referred to one season as "run prevention" and the other as the "greatest team in all baseball". You can't be that with bad pitching, can you Brooklyn boy?
  24. Well Palodios, let's just see how this plays out starting Monday. Doubrant kept the solid pitching going today with a solid six inning effort to add to the solid pitching we've had this Spring. That is very good news, but as us using miserable pitchers in the games and getting beat in some, I wonder what meaning to give our pitchers who haven't pitched to solid Major League lineups this Spring either. Still, I would rather have it this way than not. Let me put it this way....I think this season we need to get off to a much better start if for no other reason that too few people and pundits give us much of a chance to do anything. A good start can build confidence as well as momentum and arguing about what happened previously is an exercise in futility since it's the p ast and nothing can be done to change that. I like what Farrell has done this year and it gives me some confidence that we may surprise a lot of people this year.
  25. The last three starts were fiction? Better start taking some more bran in your meals because those 4-10, 2-10 and 4-9 records the past three seasons were not fiction. OK, Brooklyn and California boy, what you think accounts for our miserable starts the past few years? You have a better reason, I'm all ears. Chances are, like your pal user, you have no better reason. You haven't any reason at all. But I'm listening if you do.
