  1. So you think Hughes=Lester?
  2. I've been seeing reports that the Twins had a choice and that they chose Lester over Ellsbury as the centerpiece of Boston's offer for Johan. I understand that Lester's a lefty, but his stats seem to indicate he has some control issues and after an almst full season's worth of games in the majors, he hasn't really done much to give me the impression he will be anything more than a 3rd or 4th guy. Ellsbury on the other hand looks like Grady Sizemore in the way he plays. I've seen him play only 6 or 7 times, but he looks fantastic. I know the old saying about always pitching, but Ellsbury looks like he could be a perennial all-star while putting up Sizemore-esque numbers for a long time.
  3. BTW, I cannot believe that given the choice, the Twins would rather have Lester over Ellsbury. Why would you rather have a guy who seems to have control issues over a guy who looks like Grady Sizemore (granted I've only seen him play like 6 or 7 times, but his numbers are awesome)
  4. As a follow up...I find it highly amusing that the Twins ask for Kenedy as the third player and then feel that Masterson/Bowden + Lowrie is equivalent to that LOL
  5. Well I care about your 8 page essay I share Jack's frustrations. I'm still having memories of the D-Backs asking for Soriano and Nick Johnson but then taking Jorge whatever and Brandon Lyon instead. I understand your point about the 4 cost controlled players, but Melky, Hughes, and another prospect would have been 3 cost controlled guys. Melky is someone with a great future and Phil has more upside than anyone in the Boston package. Small or big market, the Yankees have a better package, not that Boston's isn't fair, I just don't believe that it is better than what the Yankees are offering. Put it this way, I think we can all agree on Crisp + Lester as not being as good as Melky + Hughes. Whatever the peripheral prospects are, and if the Twins are basing their decision on the 3rd or 4th guys in a package, then that's their perrogative. I don't think it's good baseball decision making, but whatever, I'm sure they know better than me. But anyway, like I said yesterday, this ship has sailed. If the Twins are willing to take a lesser package from the WS champions for whatever reason, then fine, it is what it is. The Yanks need to just move on at this point.
  6. Man I am so done with this. It is seriously time to just move on.
  7. Hats off to the Sox if they can get Johan. Time to move on and go after another pitcher instead. the boat has sailed for me on this one.
  8. ugh forgot about Angelos.
  9. maybe I think that there's just some people in the wolrd that you can't do business with. maybe I meant that the Twins are just using the Yanks to make a play for the Sox prospects. maybe I simply meant it's time to move on to someone else. If the Twins don't think Hughes + Cabrera wows them maybe the Os do or the As do. Anywayz, thanks for the "logic" As for the second point. they're comparable players. Johan is better but not to the point where he's Superman compared to Joe Schmo.
  10. a. what point did I say that they can be had for less? I said it's time to move on. b. Dan Haren and Bedard were both at one point or another faves for the CY Young race this year. I'd say that's comparable.
  11. it's disgusting how he's able to get a $400M taxpayer subsidized stadium. I mean has he even put in $400M into his own product in the last 10 years???
  12. I'd like to take the Twins GM and Owner and hang them by their toes from the Metrodome. This is seriously just getting stupid.
  13. our genius FO is paying ARod 100M more than any other team was going to offer him. Would you really be surprised if we don't sign Andy for 3 years $45M?
  14. Well said. 100% agreed with you. I also tire of the 50k stats and new formulas that pop up every year. Not a dig at the guys who go by that, but it tends to get a bit silly after a while. It's like trying to analyze why you like sex so much. I'm sure you could come up with 50,000 fancy stat formulas like body fluid share or on body percentage, but sometimes you need to just relax and enjoy the game.
  15. I'm hoping so. Santana would be awesome but at this point, I think the Yanks need to just move on to Bedard (assu, ing the Os trade him within the division) or Haren, who were comparable with Santana the last ocuple of years (Bedard at least). This Santana thing has gotten to the point where you almost have to move Melky now.
  16. wow if true per ESPN and Red Sox wil get the trade if they include Ellsbury or Clay, then my hats off to your organization. those are guys with great futures but a 1-2-3 of Johan, Josh and Matsuzaka will probably ensure you at leats a few more championships for the foreseeable future. I would do that in a heartbeat.
  17. i agree, please continue to shovel on the FO for this craptacular deal. frankly i'm disgusted at the incredible display of stupidity.
  18. my line stands at 10 yrs $220M for it to be any sort of groveling. This is unbelievably the most disgusting contract I've ever seen. I can't see Cash being ok with this. nvm...reports are he negotiated most of the contract with Randy Levine. ugh anothr Tampa NY power struggle. Absolutely disgusting We would have been better off trading Kennedy, Cabrera, Pavano, Matsui and Damon to the Rays for Crawford and Kazmir or some prospects and using some of this grotesque contract to eat the salaries of Matsui, Damon and Pavano. Absolutely sick.
  19. http://www.nypost.com/seven/11162007/sports/b_rry_gets_indicted_472524.htm?page=0 evidence was always there, they were probably just waiting to see what else they could prove.
  20. I'm getting to the point where I'm just about to say eff it and start praying that Jorgie doesn't pass his physical, and we table the offers for AFraud and Mo. Then trade Matsui, Pavano, Damon, Kennedy, Cabrera, and Wang for Crawford, BJ Upton, and Kazmir from the Rays. How do we make that trade happen? Take that additional money you were going to spend on Po, Mo and ARod and give it to the Rays to pay off the salaries of the guys we're sending them. There.
  21. I don't want this guy anywhere near my team. I cannot stand his fake Gucci wearing grin
