  1. So are you saying Kirby got in based on what he might have done, or what he had already done in his career?
  2. So what do you think is the cutoff for a HOF CF career?
  3. Are you saying they only compare stats of other first basemen when voting in 1B guys, and that they completely ignore the other CFs in the HOF when voting in CFs?
  4. Mickey Mantle? Willie Mays? Joe Dimaggio? Ty Cobb? Duke Snider? I'm sure theres more. It's a disgrace for Kirby Puckett to be mentioned with those names.
  5. Someone please look at these numbers and tell me how Kirby Puckett gets in on the first ballotm but Donnie Baseball doesn't or that Jim Rice doesnt for how many years now??? Kirby Puckett .318 BA, 2,304 Hits, 414 2B, 207 HR, 1,085 RBI, 450 BB, 965 SO, .837 OPS, 3,453 Total bases Don Mattingly .307 BA, 2,153 Hits, 442 2B, 222 HR, 1,099 RBI, 588 BB, 444 SO, .829 OPS, 3,301 Total bases Jim Rice .298 BA, 2,452 Hits, 373 2B, 382 HR, 1,451 RBI, 670 BB, 1,423 SO, .854 OPS, 4,129 Total bases Honestly if Mattingly and Rice don't get in based on those stats, the Hall of Fame is a complete joke. Anyone have any others to compare to Kirby's stats? Rice and Donnie were the first two that I knew of
  6. I dont know why some Sox fans in NY are always complaining like they getting a beating or something form Yankee fans. Cmon now guys, no need to exxagerate
  7. I'd call him an idiot, but he does this every year to motivate himself. he has to be angry at someone to play well. It's just how he is
  8. Who's this Pat person and why does he/she have so many fans???
  9. I actually think we had a very good offseason this year. The problem is that our offseason acquisitions form a couple of years ago when Cashman had less say in things are gonna be the downfall of our team. Of course, those decisions were made by the Tampa contingent which has absolutely no knowledge of baseball but since they're fellating George, he won't fire them. So instead he sets up Joe to take the fall. I would be shocked if Joe lasts through the season if we dont start strong.
  10. I think he's setting up Torre for a fall if we don't win it this year
  11. IMO, he said he was gonna lose the weight because he wanted to play at the WBC, thinking that it owuld be a good way for him to garner some goodwill from the fans and media during the end of his career. And please don't tell me he doesn't care what people thinks. The man's got liike 3 or 4 guys who take care of his image. he's a classic case of someone who didnt get enough hugs from daddy. Anyway, abck to the topic. He thinks, ok I sgotta top the steroids for this offseason in order to play the WBC cuz the drug tests will be more stringent than the MLB one, so he goes off the steroids. weeks later, he learns that the tests they do will detect steroids up to 1 year so he's like, forget that. end of story. the sad thing is, this scenario is actually completely feasible. How can you label anyone the greatest player when the above referenced scenario is so completely feasible??
  12. I'm pretty sure he is too
  13. man thats not natural, nate's vert is sick
  14. he's a cheater. I detest every moment that i see him holding a bat. Giambi bettah watch it, cuz I feel the same way about him sometimes.
  15. personally, it sickens my stomach because Bonds coulda been the greatest player I ever saw had he stayed off the steroids. Now when I see him, all I see is a pathetic, paranoid poster boy for roid-rage.
  16. I dont normally wish for injuries to happen to anyone, but Bonds is one guy I wish would blow out a knee while on his way to give another 15 grand to his mistress. he's an absolute racist who makes stupid remarks about wanting to pass Ruth because he's white. I really hope that one day he gets exposed as the lying, cheating rat he is. Everyone else who cheated is just as bad, but the damage they did to baseball won't be as bad as Bonds surpassing Ruth or Aaron.
  17. you were saying? Seriously though, what a jhoke. I'm so sick of people mouthing off to the media and then apologizing for it. How about keeping your mouth shut. And the gyuy forgot to apologize to Nomar. When the hell has Nomar ever said anything negative about Ozzie? Hey thanks Ozzie, now why don't you and Schilling join the "zip our mouths" shut support group and we can all get back to baseball.
  18. They havent managed yet, so you can't say that. On the other hand, all 3 have played SS in the majors. Thats funny, because I dont remember him as a media attention whore when he was a nothing SS
  19. Ozzie is a Venezuelan
  20. Theres plenty of media whores on almost every team. all in all, that was a stupid joke, offense intended
  21. yeah thats what I was referring to. After his surgery, he needs to do som adjustments to his game, because he wont be able to play that kind of game at full speed for a while. Needs to work on his jumpers and otehr things.
  22. u'd think that Amare would be working on other things rather than his dunking, especially after the surgery
  23. yuck thats a sad OF. The IF on the other hand, smoking...
  24. I submit to the jury, aka Riverside Sluggers, Exhibition #1 of my previous posts
  25. Right now I think Loretta will bat aorund .290 or probably higher. MC Hammer makes a helluva point about hitting in front of Ortiz and Manny, and you're right about Fenway. I'm just saying, it's a new place for him to live, everything's new, most people have an adjustment period that they go through. I don't know if Mark is one of those people, but I would assume he would need a few weeks to get used to things before turning into the lifetime .301 hitter he is. I just think that with the tone of some people, they expect Mark to hit .300 right off the bat and remain that way for every month, when he could possibly bat .175 in April and wind up hitting .450 in September to baalnce things out.
