Its a good move for both teams. You have extra pitching, so you spun it off for extra bench help. I'm not that high on Willy, but I didnt think much of Brandon either, so to me its a wash talent wise, and one that makes sense for both teams.

Why are you so eager to try to make an issue out of it? I dont feel Pena has anything in his game worht complimenting, so why would I compliment him? if someone on the Red Sox deserves a compliment, I'll pay it. Pena's streakiness and lack of plate discipline are the harsh realities of his game right now. If he overcomes his 1 strikeout per 3 ABs then you can rub my face in it. Until then, don't be so sensitive to observations about your players. I dont have a problem calling Giambi and Sheff Steroid junkies, because that's the truth of things. And where did I say Cano's lack of plate discipline was acceptable? I merely pointed out a stat, you drew your own conclusions.

I have the same opinion of Pena before he became a Red Sox. if someone becoming a Yankee suddenly means it's time for you to kill every aspect of their game, then thats the way you think, not me. I recognize the strengths and weaknesses of players on either team, and don't have a problem acknowledging either. Unfortunately there are some fans who feel the need to ignore every compliment you pay to their players and only listen when I make a critique about them. I don't have a problem when people make a good observation about players on my team, noone's perfect. My posts in here have always walked this line, yet the reaction I see form some people is like Pavlov's dog the minute they see my avatar. Cano and Pena both are hackers. Cano's swing isnt as long so he had 68 Ks in 522 ABs compared to Pena's 116 Ks in 311 ABs.

You missed the point of me saying he was hot for a stretch then reverted back to his normal self for the rest of the season. Like a basketabll player who is hot in the first half but is garbage in the second half. he migth score 20 in the first half and 5 points in the second. overall line is nice, but gotta look at the context of how he did it. I've had Pena for two years so I don't blame you since you'e probably only able to go by his stats right now. I'm not trying to turn this into a Yankee Red Sox thing. Anyone who's had the unfortunate idea to pickup Pena after his hot streak and held onto him for 2 weeks too long knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Not really biased or anything. I'vehad pena on my fantasy squad for 2004 and 2005. His power numbers come from a hot streak mainly, and then he goes back to striking out twice a game. I think he had like 10 HRs in 6 weeks or something last year. and then hit 9 hrs the rest of the year. I didn't really think that highly of Brandon either, so this is a typical "my garbage" for your "garbage" trade. maybe if the Sox got someone to shorten up Willy's swing somewhat. You dont ned to hit it that hard to get a hit when you're a righty in Fenway. Even then though, his atrocious lack of plate discipline will probably do him in.

I feel if you're going to make personal attacks on players or whatever, you should be prepared to deal with it when peopel do the same to you. That's how life works. You've demonstrated: 1) that you've never been beaned, and probably never played an actual organized league game other than sitting around with friends and BSing about how you would've hit that HR further than Kirk Gibson or how you woulda pitched differently to Bernie in the 8th. if you ever did actually pick up a glove and played with real live people, then I'd be shocked if it was for anything other than a pinch runner or defensive purposes. yeah, about Willie. I really feel for the guy. With him being so publicly admant in his support for Barry, every time I think of Willie, I ask myself, how much did he know? Barry has managed to taint Willie Mays because of his actions.

the thing is, the guy accomploished what noone else did, he was 400/400! Had he plaeyd another 3 or 4 seasons, he woulda probably been 500/500 without steroids. COulda been one of the greatest of all time without question. Might still be, but no way is anyone going to automatically see it that way with what hes done to himself
