  1. Well, hes not exactly your gold glove type backup, he cant hit for s***, in my mind, hes worse than Alex Cora.
  2. What are the Yankee probables? We deff cant lose to these average teams, This whole schedule scares me, especially after we lose 2/3 to the friggin Devil Rays. Hopefully this'll wake this team up, doesn't seem like we're playin with any urgency yet. We got our bullpen faltering every night, I mean, Timlin, just plain frustrating last night, he should be lights out like he is in the playoffs, instead he's givin up runs to the worst team in the AL East. I would not feel safe with him on the mound in a tight game v. BAL or TOR.
  3. Yeah, very persuasive, we should deff email this to Tito and he'll have to bench Edgar. C'mon, the only reason we brought up Hanley is so that he can be a defensive replacement if needed, and to get spare experience time, not to challenge ERent at the SS position. Remember when he started out the season something ridiculous? like .230- ? Well since then he's brught that average up to .270+ and hasn't really gotten the credit he deserves. Granted I wouldn't mind if Hanley taught him to use a friggin' glove.
  4. I would really like to have the lead going into that yankee series, even by a 1/2 game if needed, just to have the momentum. Honestly, it should have never gotten this bad. The Yankees are signing random guys everyday just to fil up a spot in the rotation, and these guys are just pitching. Then again, there were stratches where they pitched like they should have, and we didn't take advantage. Tomorow we get a much needed day off and hopefully we'll finally play like we give a s***. I really want some n nonsense from everyone else like Papi has shown. They just play like they don't care with these careless errors and Timlin givin up all these runs, in the playoffs when he knows it important he pitches lights out. He should be reachin back to get these guys out. You can never under-estimate your opponent, and I think we under-estimate the rest of the AL East.
  5. I said it yesterday, and I'll say it again, this guy is nothing special, all he does is what he's suppose to do. Though you can't really blame him here, I wouldn't rush hansen inot a big situation already. Maybe give him a few mop up appearences first. I might have brought in Papy though, he's more of a SO pitcher than Timlin, and if his splitters good he mighta gotten out. This bullpen is the only thing that's bringing us down. There was a stat about how the Yankees would be 5 up if the Devil Rays didn't win so much against em, well we'd probably be even if we had our 2004 pen.
  6. His inherited runners stats are clearly counting him out of both awards. Papi has been carrying this team for the past few months, w/o him getting the lead we don't even get Timlin in the game, Ortiz in my mind is the AL mvp for what he's done this month and if not that the MVP of the team at least. I think Mariano wins the DHL award hands down.
  7. I'd much rather have Hansen as our closer over payi 30 mill for Wagner. Not because of the age and moiney diff. but I think Hansen will prove to be more ffective than Wagner, maybe even next season, this is all however on hold until we see how Foulke does next season.
  8. Honestly, Tito only keeps everyone happy, whether it be spoiling Manny or pointing out good things in bad losses. I haven't seen him do one smart thing since he's been here, where everyone would agree thats a smart move no one else would have thought of. He only won last year because we had tremendous talent., we had the greatest 1-2 punch ever in Pedro and Schilling and had Manny and Oritz hittin the cover off the ball. Then again, I'm not sure what the manager's job is really besides what I see during games, such as replacing pitchers or pinch-hitting. Its pretty obvious though for him what to do: Put in Myers against lefties, Bradford righties, Timlin and Foulke in tough spots and others in mop up games. From seeing that I'd consider him very text-book and audible.
  9. Someone put up a link so that you could but it online a while ago, because Schilling always wears it, a lot of players did in the playoffs last year
  10. What do you think Konerko would go for? like 15 mill? under/over?
  11. Arroyo is too inconsistent for me, I'd let Papy start out in the rotation and have Arroyo be a middle relief guy. I think he'd be very effective if he has good control when he comes out. Adding him and Hansen would prove to be a very good bullpen, especially if Foulke gets back to his 2004 self. Then again I dought Timlin will have this kind of year again, but he should still be solid. 1) Schilling 2) Wakefield 3) Clement 4) Miller 5) Papelbon 1) Arroyo 2) Hansen 3) Myers 4) Bradford 5) Timlin 6) Foulke/Harville? Adding Beltran and Konerko wouldn't bother me at all, even if we did lose Manny, essentially we're gaining the more power with both players combined, we get Damon and Mueller back, gaining defense at 1st in Konerko, Beltran is also a plus from Ramirez no dought. That would make a very solid 1-5.
  12. I look at this as more of a transistion year for ERent, next year will be the real test for him. Now he's more getting used to AL fields maybe, and etc. Look at ARod, he had a considerable statistical drop last year offensively, now he's considered the MVP this year. If this does continue into next season then theres reson for concern.
  13. I think it was only 1 million for Miller, forget Mantei, even if he was healthy next season, i think Hansen would replace him.
  14. All we really need this offseason is bullpen help, not starting pitching. We got Lester making a possible September appearance,a nd Papelbon all set for next year. I would love Konerko at 1st, though hed be expensive, good solid all-around player who would combine for a deadly 3-4-5 along w/ Ramirez and Papi. Also wouldn't Hansen be ready next season? Same with Foulke also. So far it'd project as this: Foulke, Timlin, Myers, Bradford, Hansen, and a long reliever. That looks pretty solid to me, but i think we'd need some insurance in case Hansen is for some reason not ready.
  15. It's good that we're winning all these close games lately, this is maybe the 3rd ive seen at least, and Bronson with another strong start.
  16. This month so far we're averaging 4.2 runs per game, and have been shut out twice so far. We seem to only be winning when Ortiz hits a dramatic HR or our SP shuts down the opposition. I'm concerned with Rent and Varitek, and they're slumps also. However it's more that the Yanks killed the Rays as they should, and now face the O's and Blue Jays the rest of the way, before comin to fenway. Hopefully the Jays will pick it up against the Yanks unlike they have so far this season, and they are 4-6 against Baltimore, though they're 2-1 against 'em since the O's freefall. I think we start goin on a run if Wake wins tonight. he always seems to pick us up when we're down, like with that win against the Cubs for example.
  17. If Bledsoe keeps on playin' like he did, they should be in the play-offs no problem. I hate ESPN football analysts, they alwasy pick againts the Pats, after we beat Indy and held em to 3 points, they still chose the Steelers. Now Seahorn comes out and totally disses him. I don't know why we have so many opposers, even though we're the classiest team in the NFL, we never say s***, never brag, and yet we still don't get the respect we should from national analysts.
  18. Good job one red seat, that post was killer. About Giambi, some are sayin he fixed his swing (which is always messed up and akward looking) but the only thing thats different about it is that its faster, as in bat speed. You can tell not only by looking at his HRs, but his foul balls. Pre-July he just lofted pitches to his left, but now a lot of his foul balls are hard hit big flies or liners to the left. Also there was nothing gradual about his improvement: April: 3 HRs, 6 RBIs May: 1 HR, 7 RBIs June: 1 HR, 9 RBIs July: 10 HRs, 16 RBIs Another thing got me thinking even more, when he hit that homer off of Wake. How in the world did it go that far. Granted RF is not wicked far away but still. 1st of all, he made a terrible swing, he was hunched over and way over the plate, as if he were parallel to the ground, 2nd of all he didn't even follow through at all, just kinda left it in front of him after he hit it, and also it wasn't even a 90 mph fastball, it was like a 70 mph curveball that would hardly add the distance if he wouldve hit a fastball.
  19. I hope we f'in kill the Panthers, get em to shut up, they talk way too much trash.
  20. id hate to go down to 1.5 games
  21. I also speculate he's back on the juice, mostly becuase of his re-gained size. Also when he hit that knuckleball into RF against Wake got me thinkin' also. Yes, I know it's much shorter than a lot of places but still, there are at least 2 reasons that shouldv'e been a fly-ball. First of all it was a slow curveball, not a 90 mph fastball that goes father, and second of all he was almost parallel to the ground when he hit it, and you could almost see his right foot comin of the ground. That makes for a) no power generated from the pitch, and a terrible swing, off balance and everything. That just got me thinkin more
  22. Now with Kapler's injury we should play Youk or Olerud at 1st and put Millah back in the OF.
  23. Their only caution about bringing him up is what ksushi said, theyre worried he'll end up like Cla Meredith, ever since he got sent back down he's done terribley in AAA, hopefully he recovers from that. I don't understand though, how would failure affect how a prospect plays when being sent down? I mean it doesn't hinder development, maybe scares 'em a bit but I still don't understand it.
  24. There's an article about this in the Herald today, about how he could take HGH and not get caught cuz MLB doesn't test blood.
  25. I would kill myslef if the Sox left Boston
