The following post has nothing to do with last night's game, or how ineffective David Wells was.
What exactly is Dave Wallace's role during a game (or any pitching coach for that matter)? Is it to make sure that the pitcher and catcher are in synch? Is the pitching coach responsible for who is warming up? For who replaces a pitcher at a given point during a game? How much does Terry Francona consult with Dave Wallace?
Does Terry Francona delegate well? Too little? Too much? I know I may sound naive, but the way that the Red Sox have been handling pitchers sometimes seems curious. But, of course, we don't know all the 'inside' stuff that may be going on.
