  1. Whats the OBP and SLG for both players?
  2. Giles is an excellent fit offensivly. I dont know if he could play an everyday CF though. Maybe the Yankees would rotate Giles and Matsui in CF. So Matsui would play LF on somedays and Giles would play CF and then Giles plays LF on somedays and Matsui plays CF. They could also start Bubba in CF and move one of them to DH for a day also. They have some options. Also by getting Giles you can have him take over RF if Sheff leaves at the end of the season and then bring in Andrew Jones (whos a FA at the end of the 06 season) to take over CF.
  3. No, not really. The fact of the matter is your saying that the Yankees played better then the Red Sox down the strech thus winning the division. The same arguement can be used in the 2004 ALCS games 4,5,6, and 7. Its just that simple. Its in the eye of the beholder. Also when you say the Yankees choked you are also saying the Red Sox didnt "win" that world series. You are saying the Yankees gave it to them. Cant have it both ways.
  4. I understand your point but that said you cant just pick any random point in the season when they had a 5.5 game lead. The Red Sox did have a 5 game lead after the gem pitched by Schilling at Yankee Stadium (I believe that was Sept 10)5 game lead with 19 games left? Hmmmm I can also make the case that your making about this and that is the Red Sox just played better then the Yankees the final 4 games of the ALCS. One mans choke is another mans comeback.
  5. Nolan Ryan vs Robin Ventura!
  6. LOL Kay might be the most hated Yankee announcer ever.
  7. all excellent points by Kay.
  8. I agree with that also. I think Manny is more of a complete hitter. I also think Red Sox fans underrated Manny's impact on this line up.
  9. excellent point I heard Michael Kay bring up that point. I agree on the Ortiz point. I would just accept it and move on.
  10. what does gold glove have to do with being the best player on your team?Going by that logic Jason Varitek is better then Manny because Varitek won a GG and Manny didnt. lmao A-Rod happens to have Eric Chavez playing the same position the the AL as him. Jeter didnt hit 48HR's nor drive in 130 RBI's. I'm not one of these guys who kisses Jeter's ass and shits on A-Rod. I'm a realist and A-Rod is just better. BTW I could say I was standing by the picked fence on the grassy nole when JFK was shot and say I saw 3 men. It doesnt mean I was there. You could have been there but I just dont believe Torre and Posada trash A-Rod behind his back. Joe Torre talking about Alex Rodriguez to Trot Nixion of all people. The story just doesnt jive.
  11. Never heard either and unless your in the locker room with them or having dinner with them its pure speculation based on what you heard with from newspapers or "soures". I really doubt Posada and Torre both are very classy would talk about their own player behind his back to a rival. A-Rod does have his own private jet but so does most of the players including god himself Derek Jeter. A-Rod btw is the best position player on the team. As for Rivera for MVP you can argue that every year.
  12. I disagree I dont hear the same things. A-Rod IS regarded as one of the elite players in this league. If he wasnt the writers wouldnt have voted for him. How do you measure a team player? I dont know how you do it. A player that hits the ball to the right side to advance a runner to 3rd? IDK,Gary Sheffield is known as an ******* in the media but If you ask guys like Chipper Jones they will say he was the best teammate hes ever had. As for players hating him I've never heard one player come out on his own team and bash him. The only thing I've heard come close is Sheffield saying that hes the most feard hitter in the lineup and he all know sheff is full of hot air. As for coaches bashing him I've never heard that either. If your going to throw things out there like that please provide examples. Also if your minimizing Manny's impact in that lineup then I dont know what to say. The bottomline is A-Rod is hated because he is regarded as a "pretty boy". Hes the highest paid player in the game and with that comes envy and jelousy. Ortiz is a great player but give me A-Rod to start a team. A-Rod=5 tool player.
  13. I'm not taking anything away from Ortiz but A-Rod had a better year. Its just that simple. Too bad you cant use the 2005 postseason as a point of refrence otherwise you would have an argument.
  14. Intresting I never said A-Rod was off the hook but there is this idea out there that Ortiz had an amzing post-season when he didnt. Too bad the MVP award has nothing to do with the postseason otherwise you guys would have an arguement in the first place
  15. what are you talking about? Lets compare the teams dumbass C- Red Sox 1b-Yankees 2b-Yankees SS-Yankees 3B- Yankees LF- Red Sox RF-Yankees CF-Red Sox DH- Red Sox WOW The Yankees hold an amazing 5-4 position edge. Please shut up with the if the Red Sox didnt have Ortiz they would stink. I'm tried of it. Its a crock of s*** and we all know it. BTW it also helps to have one of the great pitchers of all time in Pedro in your roto, Curt Schilling and a once great bullpen with Timlin, Foulke and Embree.
  16. How is that owned(which is one of the dumbiest things I've ever heard)? 4 hits in a 3 game sweep doesnt get it done. ooo 1 hit per game. Congrats
  17. If we go by your logic Ortiz choked. 3 Game sweepage. Despite the media's hunger for blood the Yankees didnt lose only because of A-Rod. If RJ does his f***ing job we are facing the White Sox. BTW I remeber there were situations in which Ortiz could have gotten a big hit in that series and he didnt get it done.
  18. Ortiz really had an amazing playoffs this year. The results showed(3 game sweepage).
  19. True because the Red Sox dont have one of the best right handed hitters of all time hitting behind him or an all-star catcher or an all-star CF. Please the Red Sox arent the Royals. Lets be real here folks.
  20. If you guys think the Yankees would have made the playoffs without 48 HR's and 130 RBI's out of 3rd base then your morons. This idea that it was all Chacon and Small is BS. Yes they were a major part of it BUT at the end of the day it WAS A TEAM EFFORT. It wasnt just Small or Chacon or Wang or A-Rod or Mo or Jeter or Giambi it was all of them.
  21. lol you Red Sox fans sound bitter. The bottomline is this award is based on the regular season and despite what you guys say A-Rod had better numbers and his team won the division and on the day they clinched the division he went 4-5 with a HR. Congrats A-Rod on your MVP lets get that ring next season.
  22. I dont think they will trade Ichiro. Theres too much money coming from the Japan market to move him.
  23. If Furcal could play CF I would bring him here in a heart beat.
