  1. I never said he WILL suck I put an IF in front of that statmemt. You and I know if he craps out after that 4th year hes not getting that extra 12 million back. Be real folks, he owes nothing to the fans. The only people he owes anything to is himself and his family. This isnt the old days anymore.
  2. I wouldnt blame Damon for taking the extra 12 million. Everybody complains (not just people on this board) that there is no more "loyalty" in sports. Well you know why I laugh at that? Because once a player is done and cant play anymore its rare that the organzation that he plays with takes care of him. If Damon signs that 4 year 40 million dollar deal and craps out at the end of that you all know the Red Sox will kick him to the curb. So I wouldnt blame ANY player for grabing as much money as possible.
  3. I always expected him to go back to the Red Sox. So I'm shocked also.
  4. Once I grew to like Wade Boggs and Rogers Clemens I really dont care where they came from previously. If he proforms up to his talent I'll be the first to buy his jersey. I'd be a hypocrite if I said I'd never like him etc etc.
  5. Its a big risk at 13 mill a year when your NOT the Yankees. Dispite early reports its become clear that they can still toss money around at any rate. So when you have that kind of budget the risk actually isnt that bad at all.
  6. wow this really tells you money talks
  7. I'm shocked. I never thought they would be willing to go that high. 4 Year deal isnt bad. I guess the Red Sox were unwilling to budge off 40 for 4
  8. Thanks for not making me waste my time.
  9. btw Rivera finished up last season with 6 saves against the Red Sox. Most against any team. So much for that 6 inning sample size. Also after he blew the first 2 games against the Red Sox he only gave uo 6 hits let alone 0 runs. lol you guys crack me up sometimes.
  10. If its true I would say it even if hes on the Red Sox.
  11. are you really going to sit there and justify someone owning someone else based on 6 innings? lmao
  12. Very good move by the Yanks. Atleast they are suring up the pen. As for the Red Sox "owning" him. Even Rivera has 2 bad days against Boston. It doesnt mean you own him. As for him losing his job...he didnt, he opted for TJ surgery then Street became the closer.
  13. With all of this talk about Crisp and Reed does the Red Sox FO not expect Damon back or are they floating these rumors to try and get him to sign a deal?
  14. If you looked at a previous post in this thread I said that the Dodgers would be the favorites. So I wouldnt be suprised if he did sign with the Dodgers. Hes a west coast guy.
  15. Rotoworld tore into the Marlins: Ben Julianel - R - Marlins Marlins acquired LHP Ben Julianel from the Yankees for LHP Ron Villone. Pathetic. Anyone who wanted Julianel could have taken him in last week's Rule 5 draft. The 26-year-old had a 3.90 ERA and a 106/50 K/BB ratio in 87 2/3 IP for Double-A Trenton last season. The Marlins are now in line to make a big profit next season, so they certainly could have held on to Villone and waited for his market value to go back up. Every other trade GM Larry Beinfest has made has been defensible, but this is just ridiculous. Even worse was that the Marlins didn't offer arbitation to Todd Jones because they didn't want the draft picks. Bud Selig should have stepped in by now. Dec. 16 - 5:10 pm et
  16. All of your ideas are realistic except for trading Mussina. No one will give you a legit prospect for him and the Yankees arent going to eat half of his 17 million dollar salery. He has 1 year left, let it run out.
  17. Yankees picked up Ron Villion for a minor leaguer. I like the move. Hes very good against lefties. Damon gets Myers and Ortiz gets Villion.
  18. Sign Doug Mientkiewicz then buy the Red Sox ball off of him and then blow it up.
  19. According to the Post its only the Astros, Guardians and Yankees left in the bidding for Nomar. I figured he would sign with the Dodgers but with them out of it I like the Yankees chances esp after the Yankees played the Torre card.
  20. Lyle Overbay....Whos Lyle Overbay? lol
  21. Theres a rumor going around that Pavano (once again) isnt happy and that the Yankees are close to moving him for Reed and Putz from Seattle. If the Yankees are going to trade Pavano they need to do it now so they can still get in on Washburn and Millwood. I would do it then sign Washburn. If your not happy with us then get the f*** out. I think its that simple.
  22. If the Yankees were to get him I see him being a DH type. He really has no position anymore. He cant play SS and you really dont know how well he would do off SS.
  23. With the lack of "activity" in this off-season for the Yankees and the fact that the Red Sox made a "big splash" already trading for Beckett I highly doubt Steinbrener sits by and lets the Red Sox out bid him for Clemens(thats if he even would go to either team).
  24. Excellent Post, you beat me to it.
