  1. 1 out, runner on 2nd and the best u can do is pop out and hit a weak grounder to short....f***ing pathetic....I HATE THAT ASSCLOWN GUILLEN, i almost wish he keeps his promise and resigns if they win it all.
  2. u gotta be f***ing kidding me!!!!!!!!!!! WTF was that?
  3. cmon johnny dont press, we just need a single and we're tied
  4. Yeah I'm not too surprised either...given the previous connection with Dave Dombrowski and Leyland previously winning Florida's 1st WS, he (Dombrowski) needed to make a move asap since Leyland was gonna be in the running for pretty much every open managerial spot out there. Btw, i think tracey will get a serious look from pittsburgh since i believe he's from around there, and like leyland, was looking to manage somewhere closer to home.
  5. ditto! nothing new to add except that i'll give carpenter his due by putting together a career year, but stick him on any other team, or put willis in card rotation and i guaratee willis would have won more games, while carpenter on marlins would struggle to get to 17 wins. at best, carpenter would be neck and neck with clemens in voting consideration with dontrelle the clear winner by a landslide.
  6. well watching this game i was torn since i like both the pats and bolts, but i knew with a healthier and deeper squad, chances were that sd was gonna pull it out. didn't quite see the blowout coming, but like previously mentioned, schedule makers didnt exactly help sd either. they still have philly and pittsburg in the next couple of weeks with oakland sandwiched in.
  7. looks like the sox will still have the last laugh since by nyy clinching division, they have the honor of getting owned by the angels who only seem to have problems matching up with boston and tampa (who doesn't?). i wouldn't be suprised if there was a repeat of '02 when the angels ran right over the chokees and thereby inserted torre's foot into said mouth when he said that the better team lost to the eventual WS champs. face it, minus a-rod, that yankee team was head and shoulders superior than this '05 squad. i can't wait!
  8. which in a sense was exactly my point - and clement needs to tighten it up as the yanks rotation have been sacking it up lately and not blowing it for them.
  9. just sounds like buyer's remorse to me...and who's fault is that?
  10. yes and no...i think his ungodly contract is the real motivation behind him always being either mentioned in a trade or put through waivers, but personally i think he is legitimately tired of the lack of privacy as it relates to him & his family coming from the media-specifically & therefore why he responded by asking for a trade, though its not like whatever big-market team that could afford him (i.e. ny) wouldn't have similar media attention that he is tryin to avoid...
  11. well delgado's age and injuries imho do not make him as attractive as beltran, but given that he's played in the al-east prior to this year, he might be more comfortable going back...but i haven't heard anything from fla to suggest they would part with him. as for leaving manny alone, well i would advocate just that unless the right package + free agent signing came along, but alot of the trade talk was brought up by him either directly (requesting trade) or indirectly (his behavior when he takes a trip to planet manny-land).
  12. thanks for the link, but after reading the article and the comments below it, i still am kinda on board with letting manny go for beltran ONLY if we picked up another legitimate bat (preferably at 1st) to compensate offensively. i agree that with added defense + speed and better pitching, we won't need to score 5+ runs a game. plus come playoff time when your lineup is matched up against the better arms in the league, you're gonna need to win alot more 1 run games where defensive flexibility and pitching will play a more vital role. just my 2 cents... p.s. i know we're don't have the yanks budget and the aforementioned scenario probably won't happen, but thats the only way i can see parting with manny.
  13. chacon and small might be getting the job done for now, but they don't exactly have the post season experience or inspire intimidation from the opposing side. you are seriously deluding yourself if you think you can win without rj as your ace. if schilling can regain a measure of his former effectiveness there's no reason johnson can't. but neither boston or ny will be a lock to win without their respective aces. as for yankee history...last time i checked history didnt win you championships...talented rosters with players getting hot at the right time did. i'm not saying ny doesn't fall into that category, but please don't go with the whole lame "celebrated team" ********. outside of '81, that mystique didn't do jack for them from '82 - '95.
  14. While that would be wishful thinking, (what team doesn't want to get younger/faster/etc.?) I just hope if* Beltran did come to Boston he would not wilt under the constant media spotlight playing for another major market team. Then again...I'm sure alot of the blame for his dissapointing season can be blamed on unrealistic expectaction on carrying the team offensively whereas in Boston, he would have somewhat more protection in the lineup.
  15. i understand your point steve, but lest we remember fan is short for fanatic, ergo, a fanatic might not be in a position to rationally understand the salient points you bring up. for the record, i was try to play devil's advocate as to why some people would see foulke's seemingly bad attitude and take it personally. i'd probably be as angry and frustrated if i was having the same year as him, but i'd like to think i'd know what i was getting myself into w/the media & fans prior to coming to boston. its not like boston & ny has the best reputation in the country w/regards to how some members of the media can focus on a player and make his life hell.
  16. lol yeah that'll happen i mentioned Konerko as an example...i also mentioned Dunn as well (not like either will happen)...just cause you don't like him doesn't mean he's not a viable option. there are posters on this forum that despise both renteria and millar. both have contributed in one way or another to keeping this team rolling. if you have the option to bring in a proven player of his caliber you have to at least take a look at it.
  17. my point is maybe he (foulke) wouldn't be harassed as much if he just owned up to his poor performances, shut his mouth, get healthy (i know...how do you 'get' healthy) and just keep grinding through it. Schil hasn't gotten nearly as much s*** because he has been harder on himself than anyone in the media or the fans. Plus, his competitive nature and willingness to do whatever is in the best interest of the team (start, relief, close) does score him points with said media & the fans. Outside of being surly and dropping hints about management's intention on whether or not he will make the playoff roster, I can't say the same for him (foulke).
  18. well the only way he'd go less than 15 mil. is if he was giving a discount for a chance on a legitimate contender (including home discount w/chi-sox).
  19. Wow! that 'SC game was over after the 1st quarter... Though Stanford losing to UC Davis just set PAC-10 back... Hopefully when SC plays UCLA both teams will be undefeated...Should be a great game!
  20. I like Dunn, but there is no way Cinci will let him go w/out raping someone of their best young talent. Which is why he wasn't moved this season despite whatever they say about changing their mind and keeping him.
  21. Despite the inconsistent effort from the rotation this year, aside from a blockbuster trade, I'm not excited about adding a FA. Money better spent would be bringing back Damon (trust me, you don't want him going to either NY, or LAA), upgrading bullpen, and provide some protection for Ortiz and Manny (if he sticks around). Going to my share of Angel games, I wouldn't touch Washburn. (Plus he has already said publicly he prefers to stay w/the angels). Konerko would fit perfect but I think he'll be too expensive unless winning a ring is more important to him than commanding max $$.
  22. I agree that athletes in general need to have a short memory because fans sure as hell do. I'm sure he is venting being frustrated that he has not produced like he feels he should but a.) get over it, you're not in Oakland anymore...should have thought about that prior to signing in Boston, NY, or any major market team for that matter... b.) take a page from schil, he has had just as bad a year and instead of whining about it, he is being a man and acknowleding it, and admitting he needs to step it up, rather than lashing out at the media or joe fan or feels the need to give his expert opinion.
