  1. while it makes some sense for the angels to pick him up, they really could have used Sweeney when they had the chance to provide some protection for vlad. i understand about overpaying, but when you don't have the proper protection for you superstar player and the rest of the team isnt gettin the job done offensively, u tend to lose those close games. any thoughts why he wouldn't resign in chicago? other than not matching offers from other teams?
  2. can someone please tell me how are we 4-9 against toronto? how is it they keep owning us? its not as bad as ny gettin pwned by tb, but c'mon!!
  3. Note: see Denny Neagle in Colorado... Apparently they can (release said player) and have done so successfully.
  4. right about now, im beggin for my blackhawks to leave. i'll never forgive dollar-bill wirtz for destroying my team...may he burn in hell
  5. whats with the number of steroid users being caught from seattle? especially in their farm systems? hmmm??
  6. how do you figure the dodgers didn't get a better deal? weaver has single-handedly kept them in the playoff race this year, despite how bad he pitched in NY (Brown wasn't worth what he was gettin paid in LA either...) he has completely rediscovered his confidence and is now much more effective.
  7. lol i'd rather have a younger weaver than an over the hill, injury prone slug making over 100 mil. Brown's decline started the minute he arrived in LA. Conversely, Weaver's career has been resurrected since coming back home to LA. He (Weaver) might not be what Brown was in his prime, but at 13-8 and the best pitcher on an injury riddled and minor league collection of misfits and nobodies known as the dodgers, i'm glad to have him.
  8. lol i know, i just thought it was a little smug of him to throw out the bit about the double minor.
  9. how nice for you, i wonder if anyone else cares?? ...anyone???
  10. If you're gonna compare apple to apples at least try and argue Olerud's production since joing the sox versus Millar's production this season. Thank you for providing irrelevant and useless information re: his tenure with his previous two teams. Neither factor into how he has helped this team this far. Yes, in a vacuum, statistically he (Olerud) hasn't been as consistent when he was an everyday player, but since when has he been an everyday player since joining the team. For that matter, what the hell has Millar done this season? If people are upset with him, its because he's playing a power position where his poor defense and speed can be covered up and despite a little consistent streak lately, he hasn't done jack s*** ALL YEAR! You can't blame true fans for taking off the blinders and realizing that even platooning both of them at that position, Olerud has been more consistent.
  11. Dodgers got the best of that deal! For once Yanks got screwed on that one in more ways than one... :harhar:
  12. As for SP, if the $$ is right, I'd take a look at Schmidt. He's had a rocky year and a half so he could be a bargain at the right price, plus he has Ace stuff when he's on. Weaver is having a good year considering he's playing for the Dodgers (13-8), and if that team had given him a little more run support he'd easily have a couple more wins at least. (BTW, anyone see that pitchers duel over the weekend between him and Clemens? Awesome! ). AJ has turned it around since a couple of weeks before heading into the all star break, but overall he's been either injury prone or inconsistent (Pavano anyone?)... As for position players, if there is a chance Manny doesn't come back and is traded in the offseason, we're gonna need to replace that offensive production with either a Konerko or Dunn (via trade) type player. I like Dunn's upside, at only 25 he can only get better and he has a ton of raw power...Randa isn't bad at third for the time being, and I definitely like Tavares in the pen. Outside of Damon, I don't really like FA in the outfield...
  13. hahaha...im sorry..gut reaction
  14. what has he done THIS SEASON with the exception of last night to warrant any support?
  15. While plenty has been already said re: Cora's contribution to the team as it relates to his role on the team, If it wasn't a question over money he might still be a dodger. Him and Izturis last year defensively as a combo were #1 if not close to it in the NL. In the end, dodgers picked to keep Izturis because he had a better bat...supposedly...
  16. HahHahahAhhahhahAAhAHHAhAhAhA lmao...
  17. Maybe he isn't on the roids, but there's still HGH which by major league standards is still untestable.
  18. I'll give you Chacon, because he had a decent if not solid year 2 years ago, but struggled big time last year. That being said, any 'good' pitcher looks like an 'ace' once he gets out of that launching pad in Colorado. Hey yank fans remember your boy Jeff Weaver? You single-handedly turned him from good to horrible and now he has resurrected himself as an ace matching Clemens pitch for pitch in LA over the weekend. Like Clemens his record is deceiving. If he had any consistent run production behind him he would have easily 4 - 5 more wins. Yeah, that yankee mystique is infallible. :thumbdown
  19. As a matter of fact yes I have, now your turn, you ever hear of figure of speech or an expression? If so, you would understand many statements are not to be taken LITERALLY, but are to be read in between the lines. The point I'm trying to make is Bonds is not the only player in MLB to have bad knees and still produce, he just happens to be the most high profile at moment. a Bonds that is 40% - 60% is still better than 95% of anything else there. As long as he can still hit and intimidate MLB pitching, he'll have a job.
  20. Can you prove he didn't? use them? He definitely qualifies in terms of 'roid rage' with all of his meltdowns and unpredictable mood swings. Nevertheless, whether he did or didn't is besides the point. As long as Barriods is healthy enough to swing the bat (even if they have to get a wheelchair out there and wheel him out to the plate) he's still gonna help the other batters in whatever lineup he's in. Look at the year Giambi is now having...after an off year, he's producing for the yanks big time, not that he may be playing completely 'clean' instead of using something as yet 'undetectable'.
  21. But you gotta admit from the outside looking in, its still pretty funny all things considered. If Bellhorn and Embree were released from a 1st place team in the playoff hunt with other "contenders" breathing down their neck, what possible value as the rival Yankees hoping to fight and make the playoffs have in bringin them in?
  22. Seriously, how many games have we lost because we didnt have a hammer in the pen to close it out? I'm sorry yank fans, but if you lost rivera for 2/3rds of the season, you'd be fighting toronto and baltimore for 3rd place at best, and nowhere near contention for wild card this year.
  23. What's with yankees jumping on boston castoffs? For all the arrogance and posturing about the best talent money could buy you'd think they didn't have anything in the minors to bring up...o wait they don't, nvm.
