  1. do you think we still keep wells or accomodate his trade request? if he leaves does arroyo automatically get his shot as full-time starter?
  2. i think we just stole 2 guys from the annual firesale that happens every year or every other year in miami. injuries aside for beckett i think he has great upside and this pretty much takes us out of the burnett sweepstakes. now we can focus on the manny issue.
  3. the main reason LA didn't get the deal done even though they need help at both positions worse than the sox is they weren't willing to assume a larger portion of lowell's salary. i just hope last year was an off year for him because saying he tanked would be a severe understatement.
  4. courtesty of XTRA in LA
  5. just heard it is official pending physical...lowell & beckett for hanley and anibal sanchez
  6. lol i know.... i admit i bought it till about halfway through the article, then i was like, this is ********. i was hoping thats why u posted that... u never know with some people...willing to believe anything they hear or read without checking out the source first.
  7. lol. dude i hope ur kidding and scrolled all the way to the bottom of the article.
  8. lol the sox job is better than the dodger one... its pathetic we had to hire a giant to come in and become another rookie gm
  9. well originally they wanted and almost got giles to come in and take over for larry walker, but after hearing what matsui is getting from the yankees, he and his agent had a change of heart and it's doubtful Jockety with a tight budget is going to pony up and blow his entire available $$ for a 35? yr old right fielder like Giles when they have other needs to consider as well.
  10. JASON MARQUIS!?!? Bleh! Well with Cameron going to San Diego, I guess the possible Mets deal is off...unless they're willing to throw in Wright...which Omar would be insane to do...
  11. maybe if lee didnt have a breakout year offensively maybe chicago might be willing to trade him, but given he is younger and makes less money than manram, i doubt they're gonna just give him away. also, given that chicago didnt want clement back when he became a free agent, why would they give up their one healthy ace for a pitcher that folded in the second half? offensively i agree manny is more consistent than lee, but something tells me they are in no hurry to get rid of him...
  12. and maybe they can throw in wood while they're at it!
  13. LMAO! Actually Smacksaw annouced it in his headlines which is about as long as I listened...
  14. Just heard on XTRA Sports radio here in LA, McCourt is desperate to get Epstein, he is even considering offering him the equivalent of Lucchino's position (Executuve President/CEO) and GM duties with a piece of ownership. Given the lack of qualified candidates we'll see how serious Theo is about coming to LA. You hear this too Moose?
  15. LOL clipper fans are such a rarity, the only way you can find one is if they are wearing clipper gear :harhar:
  16. ditto, im not thrilled/impressed w/beattie unless management is thinking about getting another yes man to work under lucchino.
  17. The only way Arroyo stays in Boston this offseason is if trade talks break down. You can guarantee Arroyo will be in any possible trade that takes place. Outside of prospects he's the most attractive trade bait for those reasons mentioned and because he has playoff experience and is still relatively young. He's a good pitcher, but I won't broken up over it if he is dealt for a delgado/vazquez caliber player.
  18. I still don't believe konerko is coming here. He has a better chance of going to anaheim if he doesn't resign with chicago, which i think he'll try to leverage chicago as much as he can before resigning with them. if we wanted a power 1b, i think we'd have a better shot trading for delgado...
  19. i kinda would have liked dontrelle getting it w/a weaker offense behind him, but i have no problem since everyone pretty much knew this was coming for a while now.
  20. well apparently he filed the paperwork to formerly reqest a trade, which to my understanding is the Dbacks have until early next year to trade him otherwise he becomes a free agent. he might pan out to be a solid #2 guy and take over for wells.
  21. zambrano is good, but ramirez + prospects aren't going to be enough to = manny's production, and i'm not going to hold my breath konerko is coming to boston. besides, the cubs haven't been known to be particularly free spending so if they were gonna take on manny's salary, they'd need alot more players to replace giving up their ace.
  22. as far as the pats not bringing in any bad guys is bs. uh, COREY DILLON ring a bell?! grant it, since he's been in new england, he's been a better teammate and overall better guy, but his years in cincinatti he was always acting like t.o. by putting down the organization and the coaching staff and his teammates. I'm not saying the patriots should bring in t.o., just wanted to point out there is a precedent with the effect bellicheck and a team-first mentality. while they could use a player of his caliber, i'm sure he'd complain about brady not throwing enough to him anyways.
  23. so i take it kc isnt gonna let larry johnson go after all?
  24. well its not that i hate them so much as they are just so goddam boring...i prefer t-mac/yao to parker/duncan combo any day
