  1. This has got to be the 2nd or 3rd time you've been cited contradicting yourself.
  2. Why would you want him to shut up? All this is gonna do is cause problems for the Yankees. Johnny by all means ... KEEP TALKING!
  3. Take Duke. They'll win by double digits.
  4. Not a liability. Just a log jam on the bases. Obviously his walks are going to help out ... sometimes, but other times ... when our offense is asleep and we really need some small ball ... it's going to kill us. A small ball team needs to move runners by other means than banging balls into the gap so Ortiz can trot around. Your not going to be able to sac bunt him over unless you lay down a perfect bunt every time. Can't move him over with a ground ball. Can't go 1st to 3rd. Can't tag from 2nd and go to 3rd. And remember we dont have a big bopper coming up behind him for and XBH.
  5. ... he probably just hit the button twice. Someone needs to delete this.
  6. ... He wants to be traded. He's old. If he's not traded I think he'll retire. This isn't a matter of should we trade him or shouldn't we it's just whoever is willing to offer us the better pile of crap for him.
  7. I think our OF has improved greatly considering the cut off man will no longer have to go 25 feet in the grass to get throws from the CFer.
  8. Sorry didn't mean to imply I was on the actual radio. I thought I posted about it before ... it's just an internet radio show.
  9. The only problem with your plan is Ortiz. Whats the point of even having him on the team if the plan is to be to go-go Red Sox? He'll either be walked every single time like BB or he'll never get a pitch to hit. Now, you may think it's a good thing that he'd likely be on base more, but if you want to be a small ball team, a runner like Ortiz could completely kill your plans every time he is on first. As a guy who grew up on NL baseball I like small ball and I think it's good to have small ball players. But to try and go from raw power to small ball in 1 year just isn't possible IMO. You can get the pieces to make your small ball team in 1 year, but I dont know if you can adapt to that system and completely buy into it this close to spring training. I'm all up for what makes the Red Sox better and if this in the end makes us better than I'm all for it, but if I'm not for throwing 2006 away to put in a system for 2007. For the record I think small ball is the future. I just don't think now is the time to convert.
  10. Yeah I agree. I know plenty of people who have problems with their contacts and get the problem corrected in days. Don't tell me a millionare baseball player wasnt able to get new contacts.
  11. I'm sorry Brendan Haywood? Have you forgotten he blows?
  12. We traded 2 injured players for 2 healthy ones ... whats wrong with that? If the rumors about Marte's injury are true than he wont be able to play again until next season, and even then it'll be rehab. Shoppach was never going to get a shot in Boston because of Tek. Trading Shoppach is more of a thank you to him than it is a good baseball move. PTBNL are usually A ballers. It's not like the PTBNL is going to be Manny. I've heard that if Mota goes down the Guardians will recieve cash. I don't believe theres any rule in baseball that says if one player in a trade gets hurt then you have to exchange him with another. But I do believe the Guardians get a nice pay day if Mota gets hurt.
  13. You guys really need to let the Dale s*** go. Every 3rd base coach makes mistakes. The new coach will make mistakes too and you'll all jump on him just like with Dale. We should be worried about more important things like if Schilling and Foulke are going to be 100% this year.
  14. It's not like Tito just has a vendetta against base stealers ... he just doesn't want to take the bat out of Manny or Papi's hands. I think he'd rather get Manny an AB with Coco on first than with no one on and an out. That being said I'd like to see them atleast open up the offense a little and steal some bases. If Coco is able to keep his Steal % up I'd have no problem sending him every time he gets on base.
  15. If you guy by what Rents said his defense will be worse do to our infield. I do agree that his hitting should improve under Papa Jack, and I'm really excited to see him get to work with all of our new acquistions. P.S. Who the hell is Freddie Prinze?
  16. Since the trade talk really got going between the Guardians and Sox I've been talking to my friend, and Guardians fan, about Coco. He said that he was their best small ball player. He can bunt for a hit, or a sac. He can fly down the line. And he's a good baserunner, and base stealer, although the Sox won utilize that.
  17. Yeah good arguement Wilt only had ... Jerry West, and Elgin Baylor ... . Not to mention ... who was Scottie Pippen before Jordan? and after Jordan? Exactly. Lets see whats harder? Holding the ball above the hoop and dropping it in, or hitting fade away 3's. Yeah I think Jordan may have worked just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle harder for his points. Well how do you expect a guard to get 26 rebounds? And I'll say it again. Whats harder? Scoring inside the paint, or outside?
  18. I don't know maybe thats an inside joke, but Coco plays small ball well.
  19. Welcome to Talksox. Make yourself at home ... but don't get too comfy. Infact keep your shoes on, and use a god damn coaster. You know what forget what I said because you have no respect. Make yourself ... not at home. :harhar: Just messin around, bored as hell at school, welcome.
  20. I agree. I dont know if I said it here or not, but I know I said it on my radio show. All you have to do is look at Coco's numbers and you'll see that he is going to have his break out year this year. His stats have steadily increased every year he's been in the league, and putting him infront of Loretta, Manny, and Papi ... his numbers can only get better. I have all the faith in the world that Coco will do just fine in the leadoff role this year, and hopefully get himself ready for a few years of leading the Red Sox offense.
  21. I'm a Red Sox fan you jackass. I just don't love every single move we make and try to pretend like my favorite team is the best team ever. The other different between Cocoand Johnny is K/BB ... Coco is nearly 2-1 K/BB while Johnny is a little over 1-1. It may not seem like a big deal but when your leadoff hitter is striking out twice as much as he's walking you're in trouble.
  22. Heh I just wanted to say ... nice UserName
  23. I dunno if I'd be so quick to pull that trigger. I understand Santana's potential is sky high, but so was Kris Benson's. Now I think I could make this deal if there was an impact player involved but, don't get me wrong cause I love the guy, Chone Figgins isn't exactly an impact player. I just don't think I could live with us trading away one of the best hitters in the game for a utility man, a young pitcher, and some spects. It's just not enough no matter how good Santana is or is going to be. If we make that trade we're the 3rd place team in the East atleast this year and next, and no where close to the playoffs. If your willing to sacrafice the now for the future ... I guess it's a good trade.
  24. Trust in Keith Foulke is the last thing I have.
  25. No, no, no, no. You got me wrong. All I'm saying is that it's much easier to score when you can see over everyone on the court, and you don't have to leave the paint. Of course I think Wilt was a great player, but for Jordan to score he has to do a lot more work than Wilt. You could litterally hand Wilt the ball and he could just set it in the hoop without even leaving his feet. Well big difference between the NBA putting in rules to stop Wilt and not Jordan. The NBA had never seen a player like Wilt before so there was no need for the rule before him. There were a bunch of guys who did what Jordan did, not as well mind you, before he got into the league. So that is not a fair statement. Considering the rule about 3 in the key wasn't around until after Wilt had his 100 point game you'd have to say he had an advantage over Jordan on the offense right? Well Jordan scored more points. If you can't look at MJ's great career, and his 6 championships, and see that he is clearly the best player in the history of the game then your just kidding yourself.
