  1. one injury-plagued season and all of a sudden, he's worth less than s***....amazing town...
  2. I'll admit Sabathia and Wang is a hell of a 1-2....until you get to the playoffs
  3. You went to a Canadian site? I'm impressed
  4. I wonder how much Sabathia would really improve on 20-9, 3.37 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 200.3 IP, 150 K/31 BB Obviously he'll strike out a significant amount more guys than Mussina and probably pitch more innings (although I expect that to catch up with the big fella sooner rather than later)
  5. I fail to understand why the acquisition of Ramirez automatically seems to mean Masterson will go into the rotation, implying our bullpen was/is deep enough as is. If our bullpen was deep enough, Mike Timlin wouldn't have trotted out in game 2 of the ALCS to wave the white flag and blow the game in the 11th. The way I see it, this shores up the bullpen and gives the team the depth it needs to contend next year, provided Masterson stays there.
  6. from the sounds of it, a trade has been agreed upon in principle but there could be other players or cash involved

  8. you gotta like the look of the bullpen, replacing Timlin with Ramirez its gonna be interesting to see who they acquire to be the fourth outfielder now since we really don't have another option
  9. He definitely looks like a solid reliever, entering the prime of his career and he adjusted well to the AL last season. From what I've read, he has an average fastball with a slider but a nasty curveball which I guess is damn good considering he averages almost a K an inning but he is prone to giving up homers.
  10. Burnett definitely shores up the rotation for 2009, I like it. The only uncertainty Id have is that Burnett is either really, really good or really, really bad and ends up the reason with an ERA in the mid-to-high 3s. He's basically Tim Wakefield with a half-run better ERA. So that being said, Id be curious to see how he'd handle the criticism following one of his really rough outing.
  11. Speaks volumes at how confident they are of getting Peavy
  12. I laugh that Ichiro got a vote
  13. go back to baking your whites-only pies
  14. We scored more runs than both teams in 2008, you stupid idiot
  15. How many championships have the Yankees won since they've thrown insane amounts of money into the free agent/trade pool? And how many championships have the Red Sox won since the FO started implementing their plan to make the Red Sox a player development machine? Moral of the story: It's better to be October's winner than December's
  16. so the general logic is that if the majority team isn't comprised of home grown players, then the championship is bought?
  17. So Schilling and Foulke are the sole reasons the Sox won in '04?
  18. In the end, a competitive NHL team in Boston with passionate fans is good for the league and the sport and that's what I want to see
