  1. He is not the closer this year. What does any of that have to do with this year? He was 10-2 with a 2.61 in 2011 with 2 saves. He was 2-10 with a 5.36 in 2012 with 25 saves. It was 2 polar opposite seasons. Last year he was forced in to a role that was not best suitable for his talent. In 2 years he has pitched in 124 games and thrown 198 innings. He is 12-12 with 25 saves and a 3.77 ERA. Not bad from a reliever. After 1 pitch to Wells, you have discounted his entire career and abilities. That is a little reactionary.
  2. You are the most reactionary fan I have ever seen Fred. It is quite pathetic. You completely forgot about 2011 already? You completely forgot about his career numbers already? After 1 appearance you have already made a judgement about the entire season? What a joke, now I remember the punchline you are associated with. seabeachfred should be known as fairweatherfred.
  3. I reminded everyone all year about how much they would suck last year from spring training on..... This year, I will keep reminding everyone that I predicted at least 90 wins.
  4. Sweet Caroline needed to go, but this song sucks. Id rather "state of Massachusetts" from dropkick.
  5. The pitching and defense may offset the offense. If David Ross finds his way in to more games than Salty, we have a very good defensive team.
  6. If Lester and Buccholz rebound, Lackey pitches like he did and 2010 and Dempster is at 4.50 .500 and the bullpen has a good season, the team will be fine.
  7. That would be a breath of fresh air. I have my doubts about Iggy, but of course I wish he proves me wrong. I do see Boeggarts at 1B however and WMB staying at 3B.
  8. The stolen base. The bloody sock. Jason Varitek attempting to catch Tim Wakefield with the go ahead run on third base. David Ortiz. Curtis Leskanic getting big time outs with the series on the line. Arod slapping Arroyo's glove. The Bellhorn oppo field HR. Derek Lowe in game 7. Kevin Brown and Javier Vazquez. "Whos your daddy?"
  9. 5 is dead middle, thats a cop out. I said 6, I try to remain optimistic.....but the realistic side of me eventually takes over.
  10. Its hard to listen to projections/predictions from you. You are wrong 99.9% of the time.
  11. Im delusional because I dont think Vazquez and Iglesias should be starting positional players? At least there are numbers to show that they are nowhere near MLB ready. You are projecting him (Iglesias) to be league average based off of nothing. "League Average" doesn't scream top MLB prospect to me, as everyone touts him as. Maybe you are delusional one? FWIW, I would not mind seeing Vazquez as the backup catcher at some point down the line. Its too bad he cant hit.
  12. Jeff Frye, who produced some pretty solid OBP numbers for a smallish 2B NEVER swung at the first pitch.
  13. That may be true, if they have no other options, he may stick around at SS. Jose Iglesias, who this thread was created about.....has zero shot of ever cracking the starting lineup. Neither does Christian Vazquez.
  14. Petrocelli was a SS for 6 years. He played over 50% of his career games at SS. Bogaerts will MAYBE play a year at SS IMO. He may not even crack the starting lineup as a SS.
  15. Not as a SS. I see him as a Pujols type player defensively. Pujols was a SS in high school, played 3B after he was drafted, cracked the starting lineup as an OF and eventually ended up at 1B. With Middlebrooks at 3B and no long term solution in LF or 1B, I could see him eventually ending up at one of those positions.
  16. I predict they win 90 games. The pitching staff does a complete 180, everyone pitches to their abilities and career norms. Bullpen becomes a strength but Hanrahan struggles as closer.....losing Papelbon continues to haunt us.
  17. ....is still not the future SS.
  18. Che-Hsuan Lin, Daniel Nava and JC Linares ....I forgot about Christian Vazquez and Iglesias. Could you imagine if you got your wish and those guys made up the OF, SS and C? We would get no hit like every 5 days. Yadier Molina was a starting MLB catcher at 22. Christian Vazquez has zero shot at being a MLB starting catcher. Zero.
  19. You jump the gun with s*** players like Che-Hsuan Lin, Daniel Nava and JC Linares. A real prospect comes along you tell everyone else they are being premature?
  20. SCM33

    Theo Epstein

My consensus was that he inherited a very talented group of players with a large payroll. He hit gold with a couple of players which lead to a WS title.
  21. You can ride shotgun youngster, Ive been doing this for 7 years
  22. I am the original Salty hater. He will suck.
  23. Trying to.
  24. Id rather see Gomez or Lavarnway playing 1B than Carp or Overbay.
