  1. ....Redsox asking the Miami Marlins about Yunel Escobar.
  2. Now that Victorino is signed.... Package Ellsbury/Kalish and Salty together and get an arm back.
  3. Gomes is not going to be the starting LF. He will see the bulk of his playing time in LF.....as the 4th/5th OF and filling in for Ortiz at DH.
  4. If we are heading down this road, I dont mind the signing so much. Rid the clubhouse of another spoiled soft player personality. If they acquired Victorino with the intention of moving Ellsbury, I dont mind the move. Good point Rdsxmbnt...
  5. We just downgraded from Cody Ross, to Shane Victorino. Unbelievable.
  6. Rob Bradford ‏@bradfo .@AlexSpeier reporting Victorino to Red Sox deal done, three years What the f***....
  7. Exactly. Ive been trying to be fair to BC unlike most everyone else around here......but this one is hard to defend. If Victorino is signed at the expense of signing Swisher......that would be incredibly frustrating. Nick Swisher is the classic mold of the money ball scheme. The lineup is pretty scary when you add a guy like Swisher. Swisher isn't Josh Hamilton, But we don't need Josh Hamilton.......we need guys who get on base and slug a little. We dont need superstars, but we need more than Shane Victorino.
  8. His career stats are decent. Hes been in a decline, and Carl Crawford was a huge mistake, why would they go down that road again? At 13 million per year, hes hardly a bargain. My problem is the contract. If we were talking about a 1 year deal, I could care less. This is a bad contract though.
  9. Its the same player. Do you like the deal? If not, what is the point of arguing.? Same skillset. Same decline.....if anything, it reflects poorly on Victorino, he declined way earlier than Cameron.
  10. Why does this make any sense at all? Would Swisher really cost them that much more? Swisher is bad at 4 years, but Victorino for that money and length is awful. Mike Cameron signed for 2 years 15.5. Shane Victorino is looking at 3 and 38? Its the same player. Once a great defender, aging and declining. Contact numbers have decreased, power numbers has decreased and his batting eye has diminished. This is a horrible, horrible signing if it goes through.
  11. Mike Cameron part 2......
  12. Hes Mike Cameron, but for money and an extra year. Hes in a decline.....please be false.
  13. Nick Cafardo ‏@nickcafardo Red Sox front runners on Shane Victorino. Offered three year $38 mill deal. For the love of god, please be untrue. Mike Cameron, but worse.....please be false.
  14. Napoli and Swisher would drastically change the offensive approach of the last couple of years. From all accounts, both are high character guys as well. I want Swisher, and pass on Hamilton. Its not always about the big name.
  15. Ive always liked him. His shtick annoys you, because hes cocky......which is exactly what you need to be when you play in NY or Boston.
  16. If we could add Swisher..... Jonny Gomes, Nick Swisher and Mike Napoli are a solid start to the offseason. The clubhouse would be injected with some new, fresh blood. I still think that both Swisher AND Ross could be added, as Jonny Gomes is most likely a 4th OF/platoon player.....also, don't be surprised if Jason Bay is offered a minor league deal. Napoli gives us a lot of flexibility between 1B and C.
  17. Salty has no value. I could see them just releasing him.
  18. Batting Average still matters. .......just not the way it used to. Its still useful as a tool of evaluation when looking a large sample size, as a part of the larger scheme of evaluation. Obviously OBP, OPS, BABIP and Slugging Percentage are the more popular numbers of evaluation today. Its not as useless of a stat as RBI's, Saves and Stolen Bases.
  19. We need pitching. We do not need to trade pitching for offense......there are bats on the market available that will cost nothing more than a paycheck. Salty has almost zero trade value. You realize he sucks right? Why would anyone in their right mind give anything of value for a catcher who cant catch/throw/call a game/hit.......or do anything besides striking out? Kick the tires on Haren sounds like a good idea.....but Lester/Haren sounds better.
  20. Next, sign Swisher or Hamilton. Offer J. Bay a minor league contract. Offer A. Gonzalez a minor league contract. Franklin Morales has already been told to go to camp prepared to start. My offseason plan is coming together
  21. Who are you talking to? Go away.
  22. No No No and No to RA Dickey.
  23. bubbakeg, can't you fit all your thoughts in to 1 post?
  24. Solid move. Not a ton of money, only 3 years.
  25. No. He is barely a 2. He is a very good #3.
