  1. Dont understand this move by WS.....cant figure out what kind of a direction they are trying to go in.
  2. No...the fact that you called them equal although their minor league numbers clearly shows that they are not even close dikfor.
  3. I imagine Doug Mirabelli will stumble out of Kowloons in his underwear completely wrecked....grab a bat from his beaten up pickup truck, scream "Dougie is going deep tonight" and hit balls on to route one. He will swing and miss at 1/3, pull another third through his windshield and the other 1/3 will end up on to traffic on route one.....and he will give them the finger and scream Nomar is a homo.
  4. Paul O'Neil.... Yeah he was a baby, but I loved his competitiveness. The guy loved the game, was emotional about the game and gave everything he had. Id say one of the most underrated players to retire in the last 20 years. If you had 9 of him on your team, you were going to be alright. You cant teach that passion for the game. I used to think Trot would one day devleop into the same player because he had the same personality but talent wise it really wasn't even close. Andy Pettite. Hes not a perenial all-star, but he knows how to pitch, and he knows how to win. Hes never had a losing season. 18-6 in the postseason. Jeter, Mo, Bernie....all exactly the same. Classy professionals. Play the game the right way, dont show up teams, theyre all business. Darryl Strawberry. Ive always liked the guy, and have always felt bad for the struggles with personal demons. It was nice to see him have a nice year in 98. He may have not been a great hitter in terms of batting average but I think he truly would have been one of the greatest sluggers ever, and a HOF if he hadnt had his life turned upside down, He probably wouldve had a career much like Reggie Jacksons.....a HOF career.
  5. Doug Mirabelli, George Scott, Mo Vaughn, Rich Garces, Jim Corsi, Rod Beck, Davd Wells, Roger Clemens was pretty fat when he first left. I would have to say though Mirabelli running the bases watching his man boobs hop around is pretty funny. David Wells....and Garces were the fattest. Garces would be winded after running in from the bullpen. As far as dinner...traditional turkey, homemade stuffing, green beans, mashed taters, homeade rolls, salad.......and peacan, apple, pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream.
  6. Alvarez sucks more ass than Hernandez: Check Alvarez has thrown 4 big league games in his life. If he couldnt contribute to last years horrific pitching staff.......thats a clear sign the RedSox see him as about as useless as tits on a bull man. That was a pretty clear statement of what they thought of his ability. I dont understand the love fest for a guy who has put up a 5.64 ERA last year. Alvarez will never pitch in the big leagues, Hernandez has already earned a shot and could be a 5 guy for some teams (albeit a bad one). BTW.....they do not have the same numbers, and its actually not even f***ing close. Please do a little research when you are going to throw a comment out there like that. Hernandez minor league numbers: 31-23 ERA:3.34 7.9 K/9Inn 434 IP Abe Alvarez minor league numbers: 27-24 ERA: 4.47 6.63 K/9inn 417 IP You cant compare their major league numbers because Alavarez has NEVER been good enough to even deserve a shot, not even last year when Kyle Snyder, and Johnson, and Tavarez and every other shitbum EXCEPT Alvarez was given a shot. I would take Hernandez any day of the week over Abe.
  7. Yeah, youre right because once all of the free agents sign with a team the RedSox will never be able to trade anyone anywhere because every other MLB team will just disappear in to thin air and you cant make a trade with teams that dont exist right? I hate it when teams just disappear, and GMs disappear, and players who want to be traded disappear. Why are they running out of options? Because Eric Gagne (whos pitched in like 1.7 games over the past 3 years, and got a ridiculous contract), Keith "what have you done for me lately" Foulke and Joe Borowski (who will have an awful year in the AL) are off the market? Gimme a break. Its not like they missed out on anything. I doubt none of these "options" as you call them do much better than whatever the Sox bring in. The Sox are not done, and they will get something done.....and it will probably be some blockbuster s*** that nobody knows about, or even thought about since Theo tends to do s*** like that when there is little speculation going around.
  8. A. I think there are some serious doubts about Hansen. B. There is little evidence about Papelbon being so dominant as you say as a starting pitcher since he has only started 48 games in 4 years including college. I dont see how being a closer really is worse for his arm considering thats really all he did in college, some in the minors and last year in Boston.
  9. ...that being said, I dont think I would want Otsuka either. Im still wondering if we dont go get another SP somehow and just let Paps close.....as it has been thrown around recently...
  10. Excuses bro....thats all youve done with any of my posts with actual names and numbers to back them up. Its obviously a waste of time talking to you, because you take proven facts and numbers and just make up your own bias excuse. Kindd of a whatever floats your boat deal....whatever. I cant believe you actually made an excuse for about 100 players. Unf***inbelieable.
  11. Between that list, and the statistics I posted ealier in this thread about win/loss records, interleague play, and WS wins, I have a hard time seeing his point.
  12. You can make an account for every category if youd like. Thing is though, those numbers do not lie bro. I love how you throw a jab in there about the Yankees too, classic...thing is those numbers have nothing to do with the Yankees.....I simply stated the AL has won 60% of all WS titles, thats all. I said nothing about what team won more WS or anythign to that nature. So your jab is taken lightly. Yankees are an AL team, and the AL has won the WS in a landslide. And having 10 more interleague wins than another team really isn't close considering they play under twenty games a year. He said bring up the last series, which I did, and the Sox went 2-1 vs. LA....again, yourjust trying to justify the fact and save face maybe? Here it is for proof: I then noticed how you did not say anything about the fact the AL has almost 100 more wins than the NL in interleague play. EDIT: and since interleague play started, AL has won 6, NL 4, RedSox 1, LA Dodgers........wait oh yeah, none
  13. Kaz didnt have nearly the same stuff as Clement. Not even close. When Clement came to Boston he came with a reputation of having maybe the second best "stuff" in baseball behind Tim Hudson. Thats not saying either/or are great pitchers or hall of famers or whatever your measuring stick is, but nobody can argue the stuff they had. Only problem was his "stuff" was also his downfall at times because of high pitch counts and the fact nothing he threw went straight. Some of the s*** he threw fooled batters and umpires so much they didnt even know what to swing at, or call a ball/strike.
  14. So your comparing the Tampa Devil Rays starting pitchers who pitch in the bullpen for LA to the Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees? Your comparing the Devil Rays, who have finished last every single season they have existed and their starting pitchers to top powers in the AL EAST? Bad comparison dude. BTW...RedSox in interleague play.... 16-2 in 06 12-6 in 05, 9-9 in 04, 2-1 against LA in 04 11-7 in 03 5-12 in 02 10-8 in 01 9-9 in 00 6-12 in 99 9-7 in 98 6-9 in 97 93-81 .534 WP All-time interleague LA in interleauge play... 5-10 in 06 5-13 in 05 10-8 in 04 11-7 in 03 12-6 in 02 6-9 in 01 6-9 in 00 8-7 in 99 8-5 in 98 9-7 in 97 80-81 Total .496 WP All-time interleague ALL time... AL baseball- 1249 wins during interleague play NL baseball- 1162 wins during interleague play World Series since 1903 AL 60 WS wins NL 41 WS wins No world series in 1904 and 1994. Yeah, AL is better. A lot better. Owned.
  15. Manny isnt going anywhere. He esoecially isnt going anywhere until the Drew thing is finalized. Manny would also have to be willing to waive his no trade clause and by all indictations, he wants to stay on the east coast. Why would he go to the other side of the country when all his roots are in either Boston, Cleveland and Newyork? No matter what is offered, I think Manny denies the deal. I think hed rather stay closer to home and play in Boston.
  16. In all honesty....I think something like this: .275, 15, 40 getting into probably around 80 or so games.
  17. What do we do with this guy? Numbers aside, he has the stuff to be a solid #3 on most staffs. What do we do wit him? I dont think we DL him for the year and I also dont think we buy him out as that probably would have already been done. Matsuzaka essentially takes his place in the rotation.
  18. After the Drew signing, and the Matsuzaka signing...I find it doubtful considering we already have money floudering in Clement.
  19. Im not even sure if hes qualified as a true prospect.
  20. I just reported your post to the MODS. Probably the fifth time I have, I wish others would as well as people like yourself are why our good posters leave the board, or only come around to contribute once in a while like myself. Why must Yankee fans continually dig up s*** to piss off Sox fans on a Sox Board? MODS i can tell you this though, if this were NYYFANS he would have already been banned. :banned: :stop:
