  1. I agree. Law of averages. Ive said it time and again...just ride it out.
  2. Well, to be accurate....we will never have 100% of the 2004 Schilling again.......and if what we saw earlier this season was Schilling at 100% of his 2007 ability, then theres no way he can be sent on the mound if hes not 100%, or else wed be screwed. If he goes 13-8 with a 4.50 ERA or better Ill be happy, but after watching a couple of his bad starts early in the year, mixed with his starts after his 1-hitter, I am not too optimistic about the guy....and it sucks because I really like the guy.
  3. Agree also. I think he does a great job of getting guys in there unlike other managers like Torre who stick to their guns and wear out their players. Baseball aspect aside.....it takes a special type of guy to manage the RedSox. Sox need someone who can tend to the needs of every player and their special needs and special treatment. Thats the nature of the beast in Boston. They go out and get the high paid divas, and they need a guy who can deal with them on a daily basis. In addition, Tito handles himself very well in the media. In Boston, if the media doesnt like you, you can be buried.
  4. Really sad to see this. I hated when we had to let go of Embree, not that I didnt agree with the move......but because I liked the guy so much. I think its time though. After him, we will be left with 7 guys remaining from that 04 team. After Schilling this year, possibly Wake and Mirabelli and Manny the following year we will be left with Youk, Ortiz, and Tek from that team....crazy to think about.
  5. Look up Tony Penas 1993 Season.
  6. God I wish all of the dodgerblue guys would just get banned. I am sick of them always comparing us to them, and our league to theirs. Who gives a f***ing s***. We are not Dodgers fans, nor do we give a s*** about the NL West. This forum is the REDSOX talk designated forum. There is a general baseball forum for you to discuss your s***** Dodgers. This thread is to discuss Papelbon.....not Saito, not the Dodgers not who faced who. If you wanna debate the closers.....make another thread and stop trashing this one. I dont get why all these trolls can just say whatever they want. If I did this s*** on another teams fan forum, which I wouldnt anyway because the realities of a real meaningful life take away from my MLB blogging time....I would beimmediately banned. I lurk at NYYfans.com......when a guy goes on their page and makes a single unruly comment he is instantly banned. Back to Papelbon talk please...
  7. I say we have to stick with him. Hes absolutely awful......but we seriously need some stability at the SS position. I dont want to get rid of another, then the following year say once again..."man we shoulda just kept lugo" just like i did with ocab, renteria, and now agon. His track record shows he will come out of it.....and we are the best team in baseball.....lets just stick with him a little longer and hopefully we are rewarded like the way we have been with Drew and Pedroia and Crisp lately. All 3 were pretty terrible at some point, and have all turned it around. Lets just wait it out.

  9. Didnt have a chance.
  10. RIP Shooter.
  11. Another veteran bullpen arm would be nice. Not that the pen is a weakness at all, but you could always use another arm...plus with Donnelly being hurt, Timlin struggling, DelCarmen being an unknown, and Pineiro looking like hes gunna pee his pants out there it couldnt hurt.
  12. Exactly. The trade makes sense if we are dumping him and someone else values him more than we do. If he hits the way he did in Cleveland......why would we trade that away? If he hits the way he did in Cleveland, then thats the whole reason we got him in the first place.
  13. Any knowledgeable person in baseball takes Papelbon over Saito. In fact, I read recently in a colum that polled GMs around baseball to name players they would start a team with.....and #5 on that list was a closer. Thats right....a closer, Jonathan Papelbon. I am almost certain Saitos name didnt even kicked around. (BTW A-Rod was #1, not much of a surprise there).
  14. Struggled again with his control. I really cant understand why.....I really think he is a bit intimidated by MLB hitters and is trying to be too careful. Too often I find myself watching him and screaming at the tv to just throw the fahkin ball. Really wish he would just trust his stuff. Owell, a win is a win.....5 BB's, 1 ER, ill take it if its a win.
  15. Looked good tonight. FB hit 97 with good command.
  16. Nice to see him turning it on. I was running very low with patience, but a change in his swing/approach seems to have made all the difference. Nice to see.
  17. Thank god hes gone finally I guess....if it truly is BM11, then perhaps an IP ban as well?
  18. After the 6/22 performance..... Holy s***, the guy is just filthy. I am glad we have the best closer in baseball pitching on our side. He is just absolutely filthy. Fastball 88-96 with good location, and 2 absolutely filthy Mr. Splits. After every swing and miss, or every painted strike on the outside black I sit there and think....OMG they had no effin chance. I cant think of another time I felt this way about a closer in Boston. Flash had his run, but not this kind of dominance. Thoughts?
