  1. God WMP......awful I would rather have seen Cora PH and bunting.
  2. Yeah I wouldnt say racist. He is very opinionated about topics better left unsaid. I guess that makes him more judgemental/prejudice.
  3. I didnt know some of those names. Looks like some of them actually had promise at one point huh?
  4. Hes still got nothing on old Ty Cobb though haha....what a dirtbag. This is also true, and the truth is....hes always been like that everywhere hes been. Hes been a problem on every team. Theres a reason why such a great player has bounced around so much. Seven different teams in 20 seasons.
  5. Because like I have said before, this is a RedSox forum. The only reason that link was thrown on the redsox forum was to bait us to compare Paps and Saito. How many batters are there in a NL lineup? 9 What is the least possible amount of hitters a closer would face if he recorded all 3 outs in the ninth inning? 3. Hence, the 33% chance.
  6. Is there anything that is not related to race with this guy? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2935737
  7. Ouch.....scaffolds got assed out on that one.
  8. "Without LEV being brought into the mix, Saito's season wouldn't look as amazing as it really is." Nobody uses this as a measure to determine how good a closer is. I can make up a stat tonight which points Papelbon being the best closer. All fickle stats aside, Putz has been the best. Besides you people in LA, I dont think many people give a s*** about Saito. I would also give the edge to any American League closer over a National League closer since they deal with tougher lineups, and a National league closer has a 33% chance of facing someone pinch hitting in the pitchers spot every time he comes in to a game. Only legit closers in the NL are Cordero, Wagner and Hoffman.
  9. 30+ million.....jesus christ. Why dont teams stand up for themselves and say....f*** it, were not paying anyone that much....much like they did to players like Andre Dawson in the 80s. When is it going to stop...I dont blame anyone at this point, but the team that opens up their wallet and does pay him......that will open up pandoras box.......how high will ticket prices go? 1000 a seat? 15 bucks for a 8 oz. cup of beer? 10 dollars for a fenway frank? Somewhere I think this has to stop.
  10. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=237910 Kinda sad, I wanted to see the guy take an AB when he was 50. Looks like that may not happen now. I always liked the guy, and thought he coulda been a HOF if his career didnt take so many twists and turns. He will finish just under 400 hits away from 3000, which again....I think he could have gotten if he didnt have such a strange career.
  11. I tend to believe that also. I am in the camp which says Manny Ramirez is one the best RH hitters in the game, and will come out of this. He doesnt look old, I think he is just in the midst of the worst slump of his career. I still say he gets to .300 30 HR 100 RBI.
  12. You should know first hand that power wont translate. Just look at your very own Godzilla. 50 HR a year over there = 25 a year here.
  13. Funny thing is....it probably would have been more entertaining. Id rather watch WMP swing and miss than watch guy hit line drive out after line drive out. Honestly though, growing up watching those HR derbies....I always thought that Canseco would win that thing every year if he were healthy enough to be an allstar every year. Actually, a few years back if you remember during the offseason HR derby called the "Big League Challenge" Canseco made it to the finals and placed second.
  14. Didnt even watch. I would rather them have invited Sammy Sosa to the event. That guy used to put on freakshows. Ahhhhhhh the steroid homerun derby days...where have you gone?
  15. They keep suspending these big name superstars. One has to wonder if stars have tested positive, and they are just suspending these shitbags to send them a message and warn them not to use them.
  16. Why are people crapping on Wakefield? This season.....he has done the same thing he has done in almost every single season since 1992. Hes throwing a lot of innings. Hes winning 50% of his decisions. He is keeping an ERA in the Mid 4 range. Why is that disappointing? Look at his career on baseball referrence. This is a typical Tim Wakefield season. How can you be disappointed with a season you come to expect. And Thumper....Wakefield doesnt throw much besides a knuckleball because.....................................well, because he is a knuckleball pitcher. Age is irrevelent with him. Ask Charlie Hough (age46), Phil Niekro (age 48), Joe Niekro (age 43).
  17. Anyone else notice that he was wearing a RedSox hat during the game and not an Expos hat or Cubs hat? I understand not wearing an Expos hat bc they are the Nationals now. I wonder if he does not wear the Cubs hat bc they screwed him in a contract all those years ago? Or maybe he hit his milestone HR with us, so he decided to wear it? Either way, interesting to think about. In addition, Dane Cook wore a RedSox hat Wade Boggs was wearing a RedSox hat also, nice to see.
  18. MVP-- Youk Cy Young-- Josh Beckett Best Glove-- Coco Best Catch-- Coco's catch vs braves Best Rookie callup standout-- Jacoby Ellsbury Best Game-- Mothers day Best Moment-- Back to Back to Back to Back homeruns against the Yankees Disappointment of a Position Player-- Julio Lugo or Drew, tossup...cant get over Drews contract Disappointment of a Pitcher-- Schilling? 1st Half Comeback Position Player-- Varitek 1st Half Comeback Pitcher-- Josh Beckett Most Underrated Player-- Youk or Cora
  19. No your right, he should change his name to Cal f***in Ripken and play all 162.
  20. After another solid two innings the other day, maybe he does have a little left in the tank? Thoughts?
  21. Boston Herald's Massaroti gives Francona a grade of A. Couldnt agree more with it.
  22. The guy has missed 2 games this season. If it were any other player on the team nothing would have been said. Give the guy a damn break. Maybe he went out for a few drinks the night before and wasnt feeling too well. Hes worked 98% of the days and nights hes supposed to. How many of us havent taken 2 days off in the last 6 months? I know I am allowed 10 sick days a year, and I am f***in taking them.
  23. One time, I was walking down the street and saw two gay dudes making out. That was the gayest thing I ever saw until I just read that.
