1. If a team made a deal for him, I am sure Boston would have to eat an additional 1M, so Boston would pay 3M and the receiving team would pay 1M.
2. Because they have a history of getting good young players from us for garbage like the Sauerbeck and Suppan deals for Brandon Lyon and Freddie Sanchez and Mike Gonzalez (who would look better than Lopez right now, granted Lopez's success.) WMP had success in the NL, they probably feel its worth the rosk considering his age, much like we did when we dealt Bronson.....he may suck ass, but his potential is incredible. If WMP goes somewhere else and hits 50 HR so be it, he will never do it here.
3. http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070723&content_id=2105087&vkey=news_oak&fext=.jsp&c_id=oak I know hes not Dye, or Texiera.....but he is an upgrade over WMP, in all aspects of the game besides hitting homeruns during batting practice.
4. Ahhh, he gets all the money he signed for I believe. This isnt the NFL, MLB is guarenteed money. He will make a minimum of 4M and had the opportunity to make more with closer perks. If he was traded, the receiving team will pick up the remainder of whatever is left. If not RS eat it all.
5. Sox eyeing Salomon Torres: Torres' suitors shop Pena The Boston Red Sox, the team seen as most interested in reliever Salomon Torres, is actively shopping enigmatic outfielder Wily Mo Pena. Pena has exceptional power, with 66 career home runs at age 25, but is batting .202 and has struck out 12 times in his past 17 at-bats. He is making $1.8 million. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07204/803756-63.stm My question is.....why? He sucks.
6. Every new user name he creates has some denomination of " adam" in it too......wow.
7. See ya later buddy. Wonder if they have a deal lined up, unless they look awfully foolish throwing 4M at the guy.
8. I say when he comes back he replaces Tavarez. No way in hell Gabbard gets the boot at this point. He completely fools hitters with his offspeed stuff. Hate to say it, but at this point I compare him to a Glavine or Jamie Moyer Circa 2003. He really screws with hitters minds and with a solid D behind him he gets it done.
9. I say "no".
10. From what Ive heard about Culpepper, hes done. His body is too messed up to be a factor. Interestingly enough, ESPN released an article introducing the Falcons and the football world to their new starting QB, Harrington. Ugh. I think the thing about Schaub is, he was an unknown. He played so well against a team like the Pats who screw around qith Qb's minds, especially young ones. Either way, if you are the Falcons at this point who do you take? Culpepper, Schaub, or Harrington? I would take Schaub over the others because I already know what the others can (or cant) do. Too bad for Schaub that he will flounder in Texas just like Carr. If I am the Falcons and I have both Vick and Schaub, I would play Schaub anyway. Vick has proven to be a below average QB, and certainly not a winner. I mean, there is no nice way to say it, Vick sucks. He is maybe the most athletic/fastest professional athlete who just happens to play QB and get by on his speed alone. Other than that, a QB who cant throw, especially to open receivers is a worthless one.
11. I wonder if Tito lit a fire under everyones ass by getting the heave-ho early on. I liked what I saw tonight though. great game all around.
12. I hope Joel Pineiro doesnt s*** his pants on the mound again.
13. The day Borass walks away from the game will be one of the greatest days in baseball history.
14. After looking at it again, I would say it is not Joe Cronin after doing a little research on the uniform. Notice the RedSox patch on the sleeve in the picture provided and the uniform sketches. 1931 and 1932 were the only years that those patches were there along with the solid socks. My belief is that the uniform sketches are accurate as well since it came from the baseball HOF website. I think we are looking for someone who was on the 1931 or 1932 RedSox. EDIT: After looking at those teams, who freakin knows, those were some pretty bad RedSox teams. Yuck. 43-111 in 1932.
15. I KNOW! YOUR JOE MORGAN!!!!! Seriously, you know Mr Crunchy very well, and type in the same exact terrible for the eyes to read format. Mr Crunchy, may I ask why you created yourself another account?
16. I actually thought the ball that Papi struck out on, the slider down and in was right in Papis hot zone. How many times have we seen him golf those outta the park?
17. uhhhhh that looked like DiceK tweaked something there on strike 1 to uribe
18. I always thought his swing looked a little awkward. It kind of looks like a little leaguer whos bat is way too big for him so the bat is drags through the zone.
19. Well, more of the same. After 1, 1 runner left in scoring position.
20. Manny wont get anything to hit. EDIT: Nice swing Manny.
21. I was right, WS are the worst team in the AL in terms of OB% at .319.
