  1. Opening kickoff tomorrow, hopefully we get some of you over to the other site. The site is open for membership and the link is in my signature.
  2. Thank you for your service and your toughness. The guy has gone through cancer and has played through basically a career ending hip injury. One of the most honorable players to wear the uniform. He didnt have to play out this year....the sox jerked him back and forth......he could have said "f*** this im done" a long time ago. Kudos to you. I think Im going to miss you most of all scarecrow.
  3. Id prefer to not re-sign either of them. DH in MLB is a dying breed. There are very few "no field" "all hit" DH's in the game anymore. DH today is used as a means to either get a bat in the lineup, or give a guy a day off. Most DH's in the game right now have the ability to play a position. The Paul Molitor, Danny Tartabull, Harold Baines, Chilli Davis, Jose Canseco, Frank Thomas, David Ortiz, Edgar Martinez days are over. This year.....the only everyday DH's are Ortiz, Adam Lind, Vlad Guerrero, and Hideki Matsui. No other player in baseball appeared in more than 100 games at DH other than those guys. I love Ortiz and appreciate everything he had done....unfortunately his days at DH, and the days of all or nothing guys who dont own a glove are pretty much over.
  4. It sucks to see Clay and Lester to both be in consideration......and know that if they got ANYTHING out of Beckett and Lackey.....we would be having an awesome year. Dicek....while overpaid puts up better numbers than other #4's and #5's in the league. Had Beckett or Lackey produced, we may have tried to fix the bullpen at the deadline.
  5. I also think that they had potential. They really had a brutal year in terms of mixing and matching because of injuries..........then the bullpen s*** the bed and then the two highest paid pitchers on the team did nothing....add in a 4-10 6+ ERA from Wakefield.........and were lucky they are where they are.
  6. Nice, lets get more people over there!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive been trying to get some of the guys to go over there for a while (3 years now).....hell the URL has been in my signature for 2 years!
  7. Is Clay still scheduled to make this start now that the Sox dropped the game tonight and are now 8.5 games back again?
  8. Nate, no need for it. I was out of line and just pissed off. Sometimes you need to keep s*** to yourself. ORS called me out on my bitching, and I was wrong. He's passionate, I'm passionate....sometimes someone is just wrong....I was.
  9. I think Anderson is on display for the last month of the season with the hopes they can get ANYTHING from him. I think his time has come and gone regardless of his age. I think the Rizzo kid has passed him. RIght now is a Anderson showcase.
  10. I would still love to see him finish his career here. It wont happen, but I think it seems right. Hes going to the HOF, hes going in wearing a Sox hat whether he likes it or not, might as well finish his career here now that he admits that he was the one who screwed the whole thing up. Better that way than the Nomar was with the tacky 1 day contract.
  11. Nice to see the young guys get a chance against a division rival, and come out with the W.
  12. The Celtic crowd that CHB describes sounds like Sox fans today. Bruins fans sound like Pats fans today (minus the small fan base). Pats Fans sound like Bruins fans today. Redsox fans he describes are the old days, before pink hats. Most still applies to the hardcore fans....fans like us who spend our time on an internet forum battling other people in opinion....who for the most part we have never met, yet treat each other like best friends at times.
  13. Ive been bugging him for 2 years about that site haha. Last year we gave it a try early.....but it appeared the server was a little outdated and got flooded with spam. Yeszir, if there is anything you need for the site you know I am interested in helping you out with it. Until then I guess I am just a thorn in your side haha.
  14. Yeah yeah I know....I already admitted to him I was wrong. The second part of your post....I do agree with. Wonder what the philosophy will be for next year.
  15. Isnt he contract to contract? If so, he has zero trade value....he will be a FA. If there is an option that I am forgetting about....I still dont think he has all that much value. I dont think teams are valuing closers like were 5-10 years ago. Every year it seems like some new kid is emerging as a closer. There really arent that many elite closers....and many closers dont stay closers for very long anymore. Its a dying breed...like the Fullback and exclusive Tailback in the NFL.
  16. I am not a Drew lover...I am also not a Drew hater. I appreciate the fact that sometimes his abilities are not measured in traditional numbers. I also appreciate the fact the he moves around on the diamond like "the natural". However as Jacksonian pointed out, he has not been an elite player...not like others making that type of money. I think he is being paid more for having an elite skillset, but players with lesser skillsets have outperformed him. I am indifferent towards him. When he produces I dont get overly excited, and when he doesnt I dont get overly excited. There is no question that he had the talent to be one of the games greatest players...it just didnt work out that way. Either way, I wouldnt say he is a bust.
  17. How else is Joe West going to sell CD's? He has to advertise during baseball games by getting play by play guys to mention his name by throwing a player out for petty stuff.....which is usually followed with the fact that hes trying to be bigger than the game and that he sings country music....BINGO.
  18. Not according to baseballcube. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/R/Hanley-Ramirez.shtml I think at one point they were thinking of converting him, but were afraid that would hurt his trade value.
  19. Anybody else kind of feel bad about how this went down? I know I said he was an ******* and all (in high school), but he was a Boston kid who just sort of lost it. He was never an elite setup guy, but he was pretty good. Now he has to go to the other side of the country, I know its a business but there is a human aspect to it. I am sure he was devastated being traded from the club he grew up watching.
