  1. ........not again. Really????? CC will hit 6th, or lower.......for the rest of this season. When Pedroia is no longer a part of this team, or Ellsbury is no longer a part of this team, MAYBE CC hits in the top 2. Why cant people accept that the lineup will be Ellsbury 1, Pedroia 2......with Crawford hitting 6th or lower?
  2. Why would SF do it? Zito hasnt lived up to his contract, but hes been at least a #3 at times in SF. Lackey shouldnt even be on a MLB roster right now. BTW, Zito is owed 19 MILLION DOLLARS next year.....and 20 MILLION DOLLARS the year after. Its a terrible trade for both teams as Zito would most likely be worse than he is in the NL and is owed MORE money.
  3. It doesnt matter what production other teams are getting out of the RF position. Red Sox are getting plus production at CF, 2B, 3B, 1B and DH. They are slighty above production from Varitek and Salty as a catching duo(I know, I know) and they are getting average (could argue slightly above) production out of SS. Sox are getting below average production out of LF and RF.......they are getting enough production out of the other positions to make up for Reddick. If they arent going to make a trade......I say just start the kid, he cant be any worse than Drew who is slightly better than a national league hitting pitcher.
  4. Wrong. Ortiz was never a regular first basemen. You talk like Millar and Ortiz split time at 1B. Ortiz has started over 50 games at 1B once in 15 years. The argument about his health doesnt have any weight, he was 24 when he became a fulltime DH with Minnesota. The starting first baseman for Minnesota at the time? 33 year old Ron Coomer. Doug Mientkiewicz came AFTER Ortiz became a full time DH at 24 years old. Then Ortiz came to Boston, and resumed his role as full time DH at the crippled age of 27 years old. He is a DH, because if he were given a chance to start over 100 games in the field......he would look like a DH wearing a glove.
  5. Vmart wasnt paid that money to be a DH. He was paid that money as one of the top 3 offensive catchers in baseball. With Alex Avila only being 24 years old and hitting the way he is (and selected to the AS game),....plus the fact they have Miguel Cabrera at 1B, VMart has made the transition to DH a few years ahead of schedule. Vmart does not set set the market for DH value. Ortiz does, he is the best in the game and its not close, like I said...its a dying breed. Other DH's play other positions. Only Guerrero, Cust, Hafner and Thome have played less games in the field than Ortiz and Ortiz has appeared in twice as many games as Thome and Hafner while Cust has sucked all year long. DH......dying breed, Ortiz sets the market value....not Vmart.
  6. We already have an aging slugger who cant play defense. Why would we replace that with a guy who is older? The days of all hit/no glove DH's are almost over. Papi is the last of a dying breed.
  7. Doesn't really matter. Youkilis is eating himself out of a position now that Gonzalez is in town. Ortiz may hang around for another year, but Youkilis is the future DH of this team.
  8. Youkilis is the future at DH for the team. His physical conditioning is gradually getting worse and hes average at best at 3B.
  9. Im usually a Tito defender, but is there a worse starting pitcher to have out there when you decide to put Gonzalez in RF? Lackey has been getting lit up all season long.....and for AGON's first game in RF....you put him out there with Lackey on the mound???? REALLY????? I dont think hes going to fall on his face, but there is a chance it could get ugly if they are smacking the ball all over the yard and Gonzalez is chasing balls in the gap, tracking line drives and having to come up throwing to bases. Jesus Tito.....couldnt have played him out there in a Beckett or Lester start?
  10. I love the people who I used to argue with back in the day who defended him and talked about about his OPS and OB% and would not take anything else into account . Now everyone is against the guy. OB% and OPS, while a strong measure to gauge a players talent can be misleading. JD Drew had a good/great OPS for more than one season in Boston....but he never played like a $14 million star, not even close.
  11. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110618&content_id=20696312&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb Threw 7 2/3 innings, struck out 6. 3-0 since his rocky AAA debut. Will we see him this season? Id rather see him than Lackey. Lackey is running out of excuses and other people to point the finger at.
  12. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=P&sid=t414&t=p_pbp&pid=518493 Hes getting his head kicked in while pitching in the single-A Carolina league.
  13. Did we really have to open up another thread about the catcher position when there are already a number of them? Is searching for other threads created about this topic so hard? (sucks when people criticize how you open a thread, or reply to an old one doesnt it?.....kinda lame)
  14. Actually, I disagree. We dont need new threads for every single topic we want to discuss. I think Ortiz should sit during interleague games. I posted in the "Time for Ortiz to sit" thread. Where exactly is the problem? I said Ortiz should sit, in the "Time for Ortiz to sit thread". Are we really having this discussion?
  15. During interleague National League games, Ortiz needs to sit. Putting Agon in RF and Ortiz at 1B makes your team below average at both positions. If they are willing to take a hit defensively, put Ortiz in RF and keep Agon at 1B. Ortiz might actually be faster than Gonzalez. Sound ridiculous? Of course it does, the whole thing is. Ortiz sits, the MVP plays and Ortiz gets 1 AB every game for the pitcher and maybe he sees 2 AB's if AGON is pinch run for using double switches.
  16. On the edge of becoming a sub-par pitcher? Wake up my friend, he was a disappointing at best last year. This year, train wreck.....hes already gone over the edge of sub-par, he sucks.
  17. Strange first two posts. Also, kinda shocking that in 7 years the username "fenwayfan" was still available
  18. Hahaha, like I told you a few days back, I see people like you come and go all the time. Thanks for contributing nothing and pissing everyone off. Thank god hes finally gone. Can someone ban him so he doesnt come back? EDIT: Thank you!!!, that banning didnt take long.
  19. Not sure I completely agree with you here. The one thing we have in common, is that he shouldnt be hitting 1-5. You can make a case that he should be hitting 8th or 9th as hes been terrible over his last 10 games. Hey six4three, still think Crawford should be at #2? NEVER going to happen as long as Pedroia is here, especially sicne Pedroia has been on fire over his last 10. Crawford will not go higher than 6 and there is a possibility he goes down in the order, not up.
  20. I was referring to JD Drew.
