  1. Hope this isnt to me. I've never been against Crawford, besides the fact that I said he will never hit 1-5 with the Redsox. Ive always liked him as a player even if I didn't agree with the signing. In terms of Salty, we will see where we stand when the season ends. I hope he ends up hitting 20 homers and throws out 40% of the runners that run against him. If I were rooting against him, I would be a Yankees fan. I do not wish him bad, all I ever did was question his talent and abilities, if he proves me wrong....so be it, in the end....all that matters is that the RedSox win. If I lose a petty argument on a redsox forum about Salty's talent/abilities/production, its still a win-win scenario as I am a sox fan. If he does great, and my argument about his talent/abilities/production is wrong......the redsox are a better team and I have more enjoyment watching them, even while eating a steaming pile of crow. If I win the argument about his talent/abilities/production and the redsox lose because of his ineptness, then in the end I lose, and we all do.....even if I am right about him as a player, because the end result is a failure. Its all part of being a fan.
  2. Hes on pace for 91 right now.
  3. Yup, if he turns in to a 20-25 homer, 85-95 rbi, 100 runs, 40+ SB lead off hitting CF he will want Crawford money........and then some. You can argue that hes been the second best offensive player on our team, playing one of the most important defensive positions. BTW......What the f*ck was Theo thinking last year when they forced Ellsbury to play LF in favor of 37 year old Mike Cameron. Talk about blunders.
  4. Remember when I said Salty is replaceable? I'll duck now :harhar:
  5. He wouldnt be a innings burner in Boston, he would be a bullpen burner. We already have the best innings burner in the game in Wakefield. Livan would not eat innings. He would be leaving the game down 5 runs in the second inning. He would kill the bullpen. In theory, the suggestion makes sense because of Livans durability (hes on pace for his 12th season of 200+ innings), but he is worthless if he is getting hammered all over Fenway. We all agree that we do need another arm, so thats good.
  6. Yeah, well you suggested Livan Hernandez. That might actually be a worse suggestion. Livan can barely touch 84-85 with his fastball. Livan in Fenway and Yankee stadium would have been a nightmare.
  7. Agree. That ridiculous C will retire with Varitek. There are currently 3 "captains" in baseball. Jeter, Konerko and Varitek. Only Varitek wears a C.
  8. You dont have to lump everyone in it. Pretty much I am the only one making the comments. I didn't say I wasn't satisfied. I said he is replaceable. Dont be surprised if it is as early as this offseason.
  9. Unreal, some people just like to argue for the sake of arguing.
  10. Where did I say anything about replacing him in this argument? Hes an ok option in a bad bunch. He is replaceable, thats all I said. Its a bad year for catchers obviously, as you already posted the "averages" for catchers. F8ckin people on this board. Stop putting words in my mouth. Re-read my argument. 1. Being the best of the bad, does not make you good. 2. He is replaceable.
  11. Are you just trying to argue, or can you not read? Look at those numbers. Just because he has sucked less than the rest doesnt mean hes a good option. Hes simply a fill in until a better option becomes available. I am not arguing top 3, you made that argument. My argument is only that being the best of the worst, does not make him good.
  12. Now where cherry picking players eligible for the position? Victor is better than Salty, lets not argue that.....thats ridiculous. Weiters is a wash offensively. Hes better defensively...thus, its not a wash. Mauer is a ctcher, until he plays a season at another position. Just for the record, I edited out Pierzynski BEFORE you posted this. I came up with 5 in my head without even looking at the stats. Hes not that good. My argument is simply you cannot cherry pick stats. Being the smartest retard does not make you smart. Being in the top 3 of BAD group of catchers does not make you a good. He is average at best, and very replaceable.
  13. Dojii, you are making an argument based on cherry picking stats. Just because he is the least smelly pile of poop doesnt mean hes a good pile of poop, theres no such thing. If you think he has been impressive then I have reservations about how you evaluate a baseball player. Hes just not that good. He is replaceable and is only keeping the knee savers warm until someone else bumps him out.
  14. Livan would get his ass handed to him in the AL much like he did 3 years ago with MINN. There is a reason hes pitched in only 23 games in the AL in 16 years. I do agree however that pitcher should be what we target, not SS or RF.....we are scoring plenty of runs. We need arms.
  15. Below average, and replaceable.
  16. You cant discount how badly he struggled in 2009, 2010 and 2011 before he was called up. MLB pitchers will eventually figure him out.
  17. You are cherry picking stats, again. In the end, all that matters is where his total numbers end up. Hes been average to below average, and is a below average defensive catcher. He is very replaceable and is only a spare part until a young kid bumps him out which may be as soon as next year.
  18. It would be Reddick plus quite a bit more if they want Beltran.
  19. They should eliminate all the all star games in all the sports. They are all terrible and nobody watches them, and nobody wants to play in them. This would hurt the players in the wallet because many receive all star bonus's when they are selected, even if they dont play. The writers association should pick the "all star" team and put it on paper only. After a couple of years of losing money and it not being on TV, the players and fans might want to see the home run derby and all star game after being without it. Either that, or replace the game completely with an old timers game (like the Yankees do) and a skills competition where the home run derby is only a piece of the competition. Skill competitions should consist of events like best outfield arm, best infield arm, fastest baserunner, best contact hitter (using wiffleballs), best catcher arm, home run derby, a h.o.r.s.e type hitting game, best hitting pitcher competition, a home run derby for pitchers, have a "hardest throwing" non-pitcher competition.....any of those are more fun to think about than a bunch of players playing in a game they dont give a s*** about. Make the all star break more about the individual players rather than a team. Allow the players to show the fans things that we dont normally see, like positional players pitching, pitchers trying to hit home runs, or pitchers who can run faster than "base stealers" That would be more interesting. Put a point valule on all the mini competitions so that the players can compete for the crown of "best player" in baseball based on specific skill sets.
  20. Its a TERRIBLE contract. We are NEVER going to get dollar value for him, stop trying to come up with ways that we will. He is simply not that good and what I mean by that....is he is not that type of player. Its not a knock on him as he is on pace for a hall of fame career, hes just not a 20 million dollar a year player, not many of them are. No he wont. Ellsbury, Pedroia, Gonzalez, Youkilis and Papi are hitting 1-5, so how does Crawford fit? Look, its a terrible contract. Its a square peg in a round hole, he doesn't fit with this team so we will just have to accept the fact that he is making 20M a year to hit 6th. Hes a GREAT player and has elite talent, its just not a good match.
