  1. Nobody is saying you shouldn't enjoy it, but that doesn't require commentary here. If, however, your enjoyment only occurs if you engage in commentary, then you are exactly the douche I'm saying you are.
  2. We aren't interested in your anal stimulations.
  3. I'm not sure. Perhaps we need another thread about the start to this season. Five doesn't feel like enough*. *Just picked a number out of the air arbitrarily.
  4. While I fully agree with the idea that it's way too early to get even mildly concerned, this isn't very useful as consolation. I expect them to be near the bottom come the end of the year given all that they lost during the offseason.
  5. Pay attention, nitwit.
  6. How does that contradict what I said? Drew had 2 strikes against him and the pitch was close.
  7. It may have been near the ground when the catcher caught it, but Gameday uses a very accurate gauge to determine pitch location as it crosses the plate. It was a strike. Had he not swung, he would have been rung up. EDIT: My point about hitters deciding to pull the trigger remains unchanged. It's hitting 101, don't swing if you don't have to unless it is a pitch you really like.
  8. It was in the zone, and last night they struggled primarily because they swing early and put pitcher's pitches into play. If they don't like the first pitch, they shouldn't swing. With less than two strikes, they should only swing if it's a pitch type and location they are looking for, ie one they can drive.
  9. That's an arbitrary measure that does not address the true merits of him leading off. I would contend that the Sox were a very good team in 2008 with him leading off. They lost in the ALCS primarily because Beckett got hurt and couldn't pitch well that postseason. However, I agree, and have stated so since the offseason. Ellsbury should not leadoff until he proves he's worthy to do so in the regular season. He slipped a bit in 2009, then was hurt in 2010, so the spot shouldn't be his until he earns it.
  10. Why does the moderating team allow this? It's blatant. He's clearly here to rile people and he's relishing in it. Do something.
  11. More like anyone. I'll bet your girlfriend would agree.
  12. You'll still be a douche. I know, I know, that's not really a punishment, it's just reality, but things are what they are.
  13. No, at 3-2 you protect the strikezone. If it's close, you swing. That change was close. If you don't swing when it's close, you eliminate the potential to do something if the call doesn't go your way. If it's clearly out of the zone, and you get f***ed on the call, that's one thing, but you take the outcome out of the umpire's hand if it's close.
  14. You established the symbology for the scorecard?
  15. It was at the very outside edge of the judgment box as shown on Gameday. Could have gone either way. So, yes, Drew should have tried to put in in play.
  16. In this case, this is a correlation/causation fallacy. They won for a large variety of reasons, and Schilling was a contributor, but they didn't win "because they had Schilling". Arizona, on the other hand, is very ulikely to have won without Schilling in their series vs. NY, because he was at another level during that postseason. The Sox won with Schilling Lite.

  18. Not really my problem.
