Any of them hitting 9th isn't as much a tactical blunder as hitting Gonzalez 5th, IMO. Lesser of two evils.

Anyone following today's action in the final? I'm at work, so I'm tracking the score online. Can't believe India is making it interesting coming down to the wire with a goose egg from Sehwag and only 18 from Tenduklar.

Well, you can get the benefit having those guys set the table consecutively via hitting one 9th and having that group go before the heart when the lineup flips. Same effect, just one less time per game...and you don't start the game with your best hitter hitting 5th like we saw yesterday, which is just flat out stupid.

I think you'll find that Gonzalez is actually better after a year in Freeway, all around better. And, I'd love it if Pedroia could come to bat twice each turn of the line up, but I don't see that happening.

I took some risk in drafting and making post-draft substitutions for my lineup, but early on (ST performance and Opening Day) it's looking like it will be a monster. If you couldn't already tell from looking at my roster, I've totally punted the SV category - using SP/RP eligible players who will be starting primarily in the RP slots - in an attempt to pick up more QS and K's (a two for one tradeoff). We'll see how that goes.

And Gonzalez is better than Pedroia for that role. Gonzalez is the Sox best hitter, he should hit 3rd, all other lineup considerations should come after that, IMO. It seems Francona has placed a higher priority on having both Ellsbury and Crawford near the top for their speed, which I think is a mistake. I don't care which of the two is hitting at the top, let the better man take the spot and run with it...literally in this case, but Pedroia is best suited in the #2 slot, with Gonzalez heading up the heart of the order.

Another "if".... If the Twins can stay healthy, and, this is the bigger "if", if they get more progression out of Delmon Young and Denard Span (Kubel too), the Twins could pose some problems for pitchers. They have a heart of Mauer, Morneu, Young, Cuddyer, Kubel/Thome. Not bad.

Recent years? He's been a mouthpiece for decades, IMO. That's part of a very typical tradeoff. He has access most don't, so he gets scoop most don't, and the tradeoff is he prints a lot of what they want out there. This is fairly common. Heyman is a mouthpiece for Boras, which his how he tends to have the best info about what a Boras client is going to do.

I almost did when I was in the Marines and we went to Darwin for the annual commemoration of US support to save Darwin harbor from the Japanese expansion during WWII. Had to get back to ship by curfew, though. My friend did, but it's not the type of Aussie you are probably talking about.
