  1. Yeah, in '99/'00 he was striking out 12 per 9 while striking out over 8 for every walk. I doubt you ever see that again.
  2. No worries, I was on. Running numbers when you posted this.
  3. Not even close. Randy has a career that can be considered as, or even more, valuable than Pedro's because of more years of productivity, but at the apex of their careers Pedro's light shines brighter. From '97 to '03, Pedro put up an ERA+ of 218, Johson never had one season with an ERA+ over 200, his WHIP was 0.940, Johnson beat that in a season once, and his K/BB was over 6.00, again, Johson only beat that in one season once. This is a 7 year window where Johson's best seasons only eclipse two of those stats. RJ just isn't in the conversation when it comes to trancendental greatness.
  4. At some point in his development, a scout indicated that he reminded him of Cabrera. This is where that is coming from. This has happened before, too. Back when Tabata was in the Yankee system, someone once said they reminded him of a "young Manny", and that was the meme for a little while from the Yankee fan camp. Now, admittedly, Montero has put up the numbers in the minors that make his comparison seem to have more legs. That doesn't change the fact that these little anecdotal comments propagate accross the interwebs as some sort of gospel, though.
  5. It's more important that the ump have some fun and be a part of the show than getting the calls right, apparently. Another year, same antics.
  6. The guy who mentioned Mantle is a 20-ish year old Yankee fan who wasn't alive at the time. In his zeal to constantly remind Sox fans of the greatness of the Yankees, he misses simple little facts like this thread being posted in the "Talk Sox" side of the forum, meaning the thread was only about the '67 Sox, which displays his immense stupidity and highlights the pathetic nature of this behavior.
  7. Sound a lot like a moral victory.
  8. Wheeler wants to join the fun.
  9. When Pedroia got on, I got a little excited thinking....alright, Gonzalez can hit with someone on. But then I remembered out idiot manager doesn't have him hitting 3rd because we have to guys that are fast.
  10. WTF? Way to show your tard card.
  11. Pitchers and catchers need to report in January next year. Lackey and Lester both looked rusty. Stuff wasn't sharp, and location was a hitter's dream.....not a good recipe in Texas.
  12. Another middle/middle pitch.
  13. Yep, middle/middle.
  14. Dude is serving up BP.
  15. Meet the new Lackey, same as the old Lackey. His biggest problem last year was he was just really, really hittable. Kept the ball in the park ok, kept the ball in the zone, but he was just really easy to slap the ball around the park on. More of the same.
  16. That's because I consider him more of a performance risk - due to coming back from injury - than a I do an injury risk. I'm not too worried about him being healthy this year, but I do have concern about how good he can be when he gets back.
