  1. These called strikes he's throwing are meat. Right out over the plate and up.
  2. Gomer Pyle on his average, a run every inning.
  3. I blame the Tribe's manager for today's poor showing. If Santana was pitching and catching, the Royals wouldn't have fisted Jeanmar Gomez.
  4. We know, they are all pen aces. Have been for years, and the next crew up will be to. Wake me when the song changes.
  5. Ranaudo 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 6 K
  6. Salem is hot, hot, hot right now. Fifteen runs last night, ten tonight. Hazelbaker, ho-hum, 4-4 with 2 doubles.
  7. Mill-Aye-Wah-Kay is putting the screws to Philly.
  8. This doesn't make it any less remarkable.
  9. Alex Gordon and Billy Butler just pulled off a double steal. Yeah, you read that right. That's kind of like Papi and Gonzalez hitting a triple in the same game....oh, wait.
  10. Walking Molina to start the inning.... Questionable strategy there, AJ.
  11. Who is Tony Thomas? Acquired from Chicago in a trade for Robert Coello, he's a former star from FSU, with a rich history of whiffing in the minor leagues. The 24 y/o is doing this to start the year in Pawtucket.... .375/.500/.833 with 3 HR and 3 SB Ineresting. Other interesting lines.... Reddick (Pawtucket) .311/.404/.556 Navarro (Pawtucket) .357/.460/.524 Middlebrooks (Portland) .359/.375/.692 Hazelbaker (Salem) .280/.438/.720 Butler (Salem) .320/.393/.680 Brentz (Greenville) .388/.434/.612 Jacobs (Greenville) .333/.436/.689 Improving.... Lars Anderson (Pawtucket) Boo.... Kalish (Pawtucket) Iglesias (Pawtucket) Lavarnway (Portland)
  12. I'm a morning person by conditioning. When many of my friends were taking afternoon classes in college right out of high school, I was getting up at 5:00 am to battle DC traffic and make it to my construction job on time. Then I was waking up at 5:00 am for PT in the Marines. Then I was waking up at 6:00 am to get done with class in college in time to go to my afternoon/evening job. Then I was waking up at 6:00 am to change diapers. Then I was waking up at 5:00 am again for my construction job after college. I went out with some friends the other night, got home a 1:00, stayed up and watched a little TV until 3:00 then......got up a 6:30 and couldn't sleep any longer. My biological clock is set.
  13. Au contraire, Hawaii is the best sports viewing time zone....if you are a morning person like I am. You wake up to football just starting on the weekends, and baseball games start just after lunch. No interference with your nightlife. Anyway. Toronto, Oakland, whoever.....when this team is clicking, they can take 'em all down. Keep clicking.
  14. I agree with the part in bold, which is why it's bogus to list "injury prone" in the column against him, but you did anyway. He had a wrist injury due to being struck by a pitch, and then he got a viral infection. These do not make you a likely candidate for future injuries, which means you aren't "injury prone". He should be graded on his play, which since his return from mono, has been very good.
  15. If he can play adequate defense at SS, moving Lowrie to another position will devalue his bat. I think he could be a very good offensive SS. I think he would be average at a corner spot, and 2B is off the table unless something happens to Pedroia. The key to Iglesias making it in MLB is hitting enough to play SS, forget about another position for him.
  16. Brentz, ho-hum, another 2 hit night. Reddick starting to get a little hot, and the patience is still there, 2/5 with a double and HR tonight. Lars Anderson 3/3, with a double and walk. Yamaico Navarro off to nice start.
  17. If he puts up that kind of year....why does he become trade bait? I think you keep a young guy that can do that. If the guy just behind him has a good year in AAA, that's the guy that becomes bait, IMO, because you don't have to worry about dealing with a bust.
  18. If he plays like it, yeah. Although, if Lowrie keeps playing like he has at the tail end of last year and early this year, they should move him for a player at a spot where they have need. Drew and Ortiz have expiring contracts, and it would be nice to see a competent catcher.
  19. Those eggs aren't chickens yet....Gonzo K....all Youk needs to do is bounce into a DP now.
  20. That it is. Too much variance, even for good pitchers, from start to start. Too much variance from pitcher to pitcher as well. I don't think there's an objective measure for comparing catchers as receivers.
  21. While Varitek is clearly a superior reciever, I think who they've caught plays a big role there. Saltalamacchia has caught the majority of Lackey's, Matsuzaka's, and Buchholz's starts. Varitek has primarily caught Lester and Beckett. This is kind of an important distinction when looking at that split.
