  1. Florida's payroll is ~$15M. They aren't hurting for $$. Usually $$ is included when a big market club is dumping a high $$ underperformer. The Yankees have plenty of those, but I doubt any of them appeal to the Marlins. Cano and Wang are the only 2 MLB ready guys that Florida would want. Hughes and Tabata are their two best high-ceiling prospects (Duncan is off the radar since he's stinking up the joint in AAA -- .209/.279/.255, no homers). I don't think Hughes and Tabata would be enough, and losing either of Cano or Wang weakens the current team. They can't get Willis without hurting their chances this year.
  2. I want it to rain until 6:15, 45 mins to get the field ready, first pitch at 7:00 when Fox's blackout is no longer in effect. I tried the proxy I told you about RSR, and I couldn't get it to work, so I'm left doing my rain dance. Of course, mlb.tv has been so jacked lately that they probably will forget to change the blackout status.
  3. I heard about the age discrepancy, but not the name being different. I was looking for him online and there was nothing.
  4. Halsey blows. This guy has no business pitching in a close game. If they are so depleted in the BP, where the hell is Jairo Garcia, is he hurt or something?
  5. Perfectly reasonable explanation for that one, the bases were empty.
  6. They still need to makeup a game if today is totally rained out.
  7. Rain is SNAFU'ing the second half of the season. One of the highlights of the Sox schedule was more time off down the stretch this year than last year. One of those off-days has been consumed to make a 5-game series against the Yankees, they now have a DH at Yankee Stadium, and there is now the possibility of having to make up another TEX game. Yo, Dud Selig, can we get the balanced schedule back?
  8. Perhaps I overstated. He doesn't suit all fans, nor do I wish to generalize all Yankee fans that way. And, I have to admit, my exposure to Yankee fans is limited to the message boards. Generally, when the subject of Kay comes up, his supporters are very vocal, so that my have influenced my opinion.
  9. See, 2 in a row to Chavez, but he at least expected it.......he just missed it.
  10. Hey Swisher, in your next AB you might want to remember that you are guaranteed to see the front-door 2-seamer with 2-strikes. Moose always uses that pitch against lefties with 2-strikes, so LOOK FOR IT.
  11. Career OPS of .995 (top-15 all-time), 450+ dingers, 2000+ hits.....yeah, I put him in the hall. Moose has been a little fortunate already. He's had 3 hard hit balls go right to, or within quick react range of, fielders. I'd rather punch staples into my nose than listen to Michael Kay talk about anything. His condescending pontification fits the fanbase very well though, so I can see why he's liked by Yankee fans. EDIT: There's another rocket right at someone.
  12. Thomas had a killer AB, and then smoked a ball down the 3B line for a homer. The thing probably didn't even get 30 ft. off the ground.
  13. The journey begins........ http://www.rockcritics.com/archives/lester%20ave3.jpg
  14. AL C - Mauer 1B - Giambi 2B - Iguchi SS - Tejada 3B - Lowell OF - Dye OF - Wells OF - Ramirez NL C - McCann 1B - Pujols (Berkman as the injury replacement) 2B - Utley SS - Renteria 3B - Cabrera OF - Bay OF - Soriano OF - Beltran
  15. The kid is 10-ft tall and bulletproof, I tell ya.
  16. Blalock turns on FBs really well. I didn't like that matchup. I think Hansen could have induced weaker contact a little better with the movement on his FB or his good slider. Oh well, let's get some runs.
  17. It is his first blown save, but the run goes to Hansen.
  18. Dude, Loretta, stop....f***ing.....hacking.
  19. Small has become the Darko Milicic of baseball, or, in other words, the human victory cigar.
  20. I don't read it as Mattingly giving him the pills. Mattingly merely informed him he was playing after Don got hurt.
  21. Trot is raking Padilla tonight. 7 bases in 3 ABs, too bad he's the only one............ ANOTHER f***ing DP. This is the most squanderous team I've ever seen.
  22. Youk is quickly becoming my favorite ball player. I'm not much of a merchandise shopper, but if I were to buy a jersey it would be his right now.
  23. Papi and Manny have looked pretty overmatched by Padilla thus far. Trot's owning him though.
  24. Loretta seems to be swinging at everything from his toes to his nose lately. He's cooled off with the bat, so it would be nice to see a little discipline at the plate.
  25. Dougie's going deep.....
