1. The Official Stat-O-Matic countdown to 1000 table.
Games|Runs|Avg|Pace|Runs to 1000|Games Left|Avg to 1000 9|25|2.78|450|975|153|6.37
2. Detroit's middle relief has been, and is, horrible. The Sox offense is out to prove it's worse.
3. Yankee fan #1: I hear Girardi took a dump. Yankee fan #2: A dump? I didn't know about that. Yankee fan #3: Was it from the fiber? Yankee fan #2: That makes sense, very clever of Girardi to take fiber for regular dumps. Yankee fan #1: Not a lot of news about the dump, but I hear there were nachos, wings, and beer last night. As long as it was a good dump, I'm happy. Yankee fan #3: It takes some courage to mix the fiber and nachos, wings, and beer. Girarid is a hero. Girardi wasn't sick the other day, he couldn't get in the dugout because of the teflon. The game is two outs from being official and Farnsworth just got on the hook for the loss. Would all of you have signed up to have Farnsworth potentially pitching the bottom of the last inning in a tie? Didn't think so.

5. They are certainly on the way up. They could use more pitching (how far off is Hochevar?), and more seasoning, but other than that, if they aren't contending this year, they will be soon.

7. ARod - 3 K's, 4 is a Golden Sombrero. Dorf on Baseball didn't look so hot today. The heart of the order was smoking the ball off him.
8. Damon's arm is a lollercoaster.
9. The National Sombrero Warning Service has issued a Golden Sombrero Warning for the Kansas City area.
10. Hey, we aren't the only team who can leave 'em loaded. That's good to know.
11. Out of my meeting, and I'll hump my desk if Coco can do something here.
12. Don't know who it will be. I'm stuck at work, but have my XM on my desk, so I'll have a listen. Unfortunately, I have a regular weekly meeting that lasts an hour or so that starts at 2:00.
13. Also, again. Go to the downloads page....here. Download Mosaic, Silverlight, and Nexdef. Get the premium subscription to use Mosaic. It is the shiz. Definitely worth the extra $30 over standard mlb.tv. Six games at once!
14. I think what you are asking is, do you get the games on mlb.tv if you are in the Sox "market"? I don't know. I'm technically in, while being 2 hours away from, the Rays "market". The reason I don't know is because I've never attempted to watch the Rays on MLB.TV. I'd call their customer support and determine if you will be able to catch their games. If, however, your question is if you will be able to watch Sox games outside the Sox "market", but inside another "market", then the answer is yes. Hope that helps. Also, when the Sox play a Saturday day game (1:00 pm or 4:00 pm start), and the game is not covered by Fox in your area, then you will be blacked out starting (I think) on May 17th, when Fox begins it's weekly coverage.
15. JHB, what is the primary weakness of FRAA? I've seen it ridiculed by some. Anecdotally, I've seen it agree with UZR more often than not, but I have seen some big contradictions too. Is it because it is based on counting data and not based on observational interpretation (game film)?
16. I think they lost the game on the fast break where they took it to the hole with 0:14 left and a 2 point lead. Kill a little clock there. Instead he got fouled and bricked two. That's coaching. Calipari isn't one. He's a recruiter.
17. How is his benching of a 5-tool talent like Matt Kemp for Juan "Coco-Crisp-Lite" Pierre going over out there? Torre does love his vets.
18. To help stomach the spin.... http://www.travellady.com/Issues/Issue52/Images/dramamine.jpg
19. I don't get the big swings from the Rays. He's throwing less than one FB to each batter right now. Nothing but 69 - 79 mph curves and changes. Hang back and go to town, it's not like he going to sneak the 85 mph express by you while you wait.
20. 88? Oh yeah, the ESPN2 coverage. I don't get that (which is in HD) here in FL. I'm stuck with FSN Florida (in SD). The tops I've seen is 86.
21. Moose is rocking the .000 BABIP with slop tonight. The only hit left the yard, so it wasn't even in play.
22. Not even close. Both were outside. Upton earned a walk. Mussina will be effective if he gets 8" off the plate.
23. You ever face off against a guy in sports who had a lot of talent, good game (whatever the sport), but you knew by the look on his face that you were going to eat his lunch all day long? I see that look in Hansen and MDC. Speaking of MDC's season last year, he was good. But...
Year|IP|H|HR|BB|K|ERA 2006|53.1|68|2|17|45|5.06 2007|44|28|4|17|41|2.05
The big difference is his hit rate being cut in half. That's the thing a pitcher has the least amount of control over. The year before is high (.385 BABIP), last year is equally low (.224 BABIP). League average is right about in the middle, which isn't bad if you adjust his ERA similarly. Combine it with what's above, and you've got a pitcher I'd rather see starting innings if it's close, but he's no fireman.
