  1. Trade offer sent, 700.
  2. I didn't make it either. Something came up with my daughter's soccer team since the season starts in a week. Oh well.
  3. I'd like you to demonstrate how I call you phony there. I believe I mentioned the claim to "know" anything was phony. That's it. As for Crystal's hommage to the Mets for support of Comic Relief, I stand corrected. There just wasn't much public portrayal of his love for the Yankees prior to '96.
  4. I did have time for this though. Here's fun bit of trivia. Josh Bard was, by far, the worst to receive the knuckleball from Wake over that three year period. Horrible. Guess how impactful that was? 32.1 IP, 3.89 ERA Doh!
  5. No, James wouldn't go anywhere with the data at hand, and for good reason. Over the last three years, only one catcher has caught him with any kind of consistency. The rest have accumulated 5x less innings caught in snap-shots that didn't span any appreciable time. The ERA data is worthless for analysis. I'm at work, so I don't have the time to look into the contact types, pitch selection, overall BABIP, and BABIP by pitch type. Those are where I'd start to try and determine if his battery mate had any impact on his stuff.
  6. Like I said, I'm not digging it up. I think it was last offseason where you made a big deal about Varitek potentially having to catch Wake, and you brought up a 4 or 5 game stretch when Tek caught him. Of course, you didn't look at the 4 games prior and after. I did, and the trend showed that the worm had turned prior to Tek catching him, and he didn't get better until a couple of games after Mirabelli returned. In other words, Wake's streakiness had nothing to do with who was catching him. Just like it's unlikely to matter this year. Especially since Cash is a superior defensive catcher.
  7. It's been shown in the past that Wake's on/off nature can lead to some pretting damning numbers for those that happen to catch him for a spot start or two. Conclusively shown. I'm not digging the thread up, but it's there. Somewhere. I get this image in my mind of a kid who falls for the glued down quarter trick. You know, where the kid is picking away at the quarter only to realize some time later that it isn't coming up. Only now, imagine that the kid keeps falling for the trick. Over and over again. He picks at it every time, but he never gets the quarter. That's Jacko with the Mirabelli / Wake connection. FWIW, is it even mildly surprising that the only catcher with a somewhat representative sample has Wake performing at right about his career average? Who'da thunk it?
  8. Ok, I'll play. Numbnuts, the distinction was between starter on the big club vs. prospect in AA. What position the starter will play is irrelevant. There is a massive difference. Cervelli was hurt when someone exerted a bit too much effort. No intent to harm, unlike what Duncan did. And since most of what you posted is minor nit picking, let's see what's left. Well shiver me timbers, laddy. I could have sworn that a ship's course was it's direction. Ships don't have a "course of direction".
  9. Crystal was the Exec. Producer on the film. That Mets hat is all him. He's a phony, just like your claim to "know" he's a lifelong Yankee fan, 26.
  10. Crystal, an avid Yankee fan all his life? http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000059TFL.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Right. Proof positive Crunch was right on about how many of those "lifers" were pretty fickle when the Mets ruled the town.

  12. No, it's not normal if it burns when you pee.
  13. Good point. And, with a change from W to QS, the value of SPs is increased. Ignoring SP in favor of loading up on closers in order to win the SV category every week means practically giving up the QS category - which wasn't as likely when it was Wins (which closers can get and sometimes aren't the result of a good start). How about 15 min IP?
  14. Read the thread. I didn't get much feedback to my earlier post. I apply consent through silence on this forum. To all, Something else occurred to me. In a 16-team deep league, talent will be at more of a premium. With 20 min innings, it would be easy to fall short if you had one or two pitchers on the DL. One solution is to increase roster spots for another P. That compounds the talent is a premium problem, IMO. Another solution is to increase DL spots from one to two so that the needed spot starter can be picked up without throwing a decent pitcher into the waiver pool. Does anyone have a preference here?
  15. Wednesday 3/19 @ 8:00 it is. I'm fairly certain we will not get consensus on this issue. Everyone that wants to participate in the live draft needs to do what can to be available at that time.
  16. The last possible draft day is 3/23. What about the previous Sunday, March 16 @ 11:00 am EST?
  17. I figured we'd have issues with weekdays starting that early, which is why I think a weekend day is best. So, how about Sunday, March 23 @ 11:00 am? Late enough to either go to church or recover from Sat night, early enough to not fudge afternoon plans (except for yeszir).
  18. Good point, and I think we should find a way to accomodate that. I'm OK with 6 pm on a weekday, or otherwise on the weekend. Personally, I think a weekend is best. We have up until Sunday, March 23. I think we should shoot for the weekend of the 15th / 16th or 22nd / 23rd. Any time of the day is good for me. What say you, Talksox?

Right now, the draft is set for Thursday 3/20 at 8:00 pm. Does anyone have issues with that time/day? If so, don't just say it's a problem let us know what day of the week is typically good for your schedule. I'm able to start the draft any day of the week between 6-9 pm, and pretty much all day weekends. Let us know of any scheduling conflicts now. A scheduling conflict is you can't be at your computer, not you don't want to miss Lost. As for settings, I think we should go 5x5, but with some tweaks. Ditch BA for OBP. Ditch HR for Total Bases. On the pitching side, up the min innings from 7 to 20 - to preclude from going all closers, change Saves to Net Saves - to make people think twice about using closers like Jones, and dump Wins for Quality Starts. The scoring would then be based on: Offense - Runs, RBI, TB, OBP, SB Pitching - QS, NetSV, K, ERA, WHIP (min 20 innings) I think these minor tweaks still give value to the traditional categories - HR hitters do well in TB, BA hitters do well in OBP (at least relative to average) - while recognizing value that the standard categories ignore - a single is just as valuable as a 2B or 3B with standard stats, walks ignored, pitcher getting the win is only 50% in his control. Thoughts?

Invite sent to AR2212, sorry HHM but he said he wanted in before you. I would have sent the invite out this weekend, but I was away from a computer all weekend.
  22. Then he wouldn't be a "zombie". He be another loudmouth, boorish idiot trying to make everyone think he's his father reincarnate.
