1. Posada just got worked. This is pretty impressive from Beckett. He's cruising through this lineup, and their bats are hot right now. I'd say he's shaken the rust off.
2. Manny's game is looking quite dapper He's making the Toilet shut its yapper His swing's lookin' loose Oh, and about the Moose He looks to be ready for the crapper
3. I think Reynolds will have more fantasy value than McLouth, so I expect to improve somewhere else. I'll send an offer.
4. In the minors...
Player|Age|G|SB|OBP|SLG KURT SUZUKI!|24|314|10|.380|.419 Russell Martin|25|392|39|.391|.419
Holy s***, he really sucks!!one! The benefit I gain is that Martin has done it for a full year at the MLB level and a little extra speed, something you won't miss. This is no huge downgrade. Martin is the best catcher in the game, but part of that is his defense. Defense doesn't count in fantasy. McLouth vs. Reynolds Two of the stats we are using are the original components of Runs Created. OBP * TB = RC. In the minors.....
Player|Age|G|OBP|SLG|AB|TB|RC/G McLouth|26|570|.367|.427|2096|895|0.58 Reynolds|24|333|.360|.524|1216|637|0.69
The both scored 62 runs last year in about the same amount of playing time. McLouth will steal more bases, something you can afford to lose, but this is offset by Reynolds RBIs. This part of the trade is in your favor. In exchange for what you gain, you give up some saves for a decent SP. This is not a lopsided trade, no matter how blue you get in the face trying to portray it as such. That said, if you aren't willing to give to get, good luck finding a trading partner.
5. The part in bold is kind of the point. If he goes to NY, he just another contributor to another WS. With benefit of hindsight and how things played out in '04, his legacy received more boost from coming to Boston. Please, please, please, don't jump of the eff'ing deep end and go on some nonsensical rant about how I just hate the NYY. Just think about it with a dash of common sense and reason. What makes his legacy stronger? Going to NY and being a part of #27, or putting his career on the line and ending the "curse" (as promised in the offseason)?
6. Those rankings are meaningless. They are the Yahoo fantasy rankings based on the standard 5x5 scoring categories from last year. We are using different categories and it's a different year. I'm not short of depth at 2B, as with a 21 man roster, it is not a position worthy of carrying a backup unless you have a multi-position player who has 2B as an option. Castillo is worthless to me. Tavarez wouldn't get playing time on my roster because he sucks relative to the OFs I have. As for posting the details of your trade proposal, I don't normally do that. Then again, I don't normally get such fantasically one sided offers. I figured it worthy of ridicule. I'm content keeping the players I offered. In the format we are playing, with the stats we are using, and considering what you would expect from those players for "this" season, I see this trade as beneficial for both sides. You lose something at C and RP (your only position of quality depth), and gain a quality SP and mashing corner IF (look at Reynolds MiLB stats at thebaseballcube.com). Gotta give to get. As for the insinuation that I somehow cheated to get the #1 pick and the equally assanine suggestion that I shouldn't have ARod because of the other thread, this is further proof of your abject small mindedness. Yahoo determines the draft order 30 minutes prior to draft time, and that setting never changed. Had it, there would have been a note on the transactions history of the league. Yahoo has all commissioner setting changes displayed. Kind of like a "government in the sunshine" type of thing. Furthermore, I missed the draft due to a family obligation that came up - and I didn't even prerank. I've had to shuffle quite a bit to recover from how horribly Yahoo autodrafts based on those s***** rankings. Why would I cheat and then not take full advantage of it? Nitwit. I don't care if someone is using PEDs. I wanted to draft Bonds last year in our league but Crespo beat me to it. And, I didn't state any of my suspicions about ARod. I just defended the legitimacy of anyone's suspicions on the issue in that thread. There is a difference there that you appear to unable to grasp. But that's not surprising.
7. 26 to 6, are you serious? You want .... Griffey Jr. and Mark Reynolds for Luis Castillo and Willy Tavarez? Needless to say, that is an insulting offer. However, in the spirit of fantasy sports, I countered with what I think is a fair deal that includes Reynolds.
8. Hero in the dark. Nice snag, Jacoby.
9. Why can't they get that bearded cockpumper out? Christ, he's a career jobber who gets on base 60% of the time against this team.
10. This team walks way too many of the opponent.
11. Lowrie is the offense in his debut.
12. Man, it's nice to have a chance to catch runners when Wake is pitching.
13. Dustin says, "f*** your double pump, Mr Frodo".
