  1. Brown out again, Pavano pushed back July 26, 2005 NEW YORK (AP) -- Kevin Brown was scratched from his scheduled start Thursday and Carl Pavano was pushed back as he comes back from a shoulder injury, leaving the New York Yankees uncertain about two turns in their rotation this week. Brown met with a doctor in Colorado this week. After talking to the pitcher, who has chronic back pain, Yankees manager Joe Torre said Tuesday that Brown wouldn't be able to start against Minnesota. Torre did not go into details about Brown's condition, saying he wanted Yankees team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon to speak with Brown's doctor first. Pavano will make a rehabilitation start Wednesday in the Gulf Coast League and throw 65-70 pitches, Torre said. New York originally hoped he would start Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels but decided to bring Pavano back more slowly. Aaron Small appears likely to get one of the two open slots in the rotation this week. He made his first major league start since 1996 last Wednesday and beat Texas for his first major league win since 1998.
  2. ?? the red sox have no other option but to trade him off, contract does require sox to pay him $1 million but only if the 10 day period has ended, a trade to another team would require that team to pay him that ammount. Actually teams such as the Diamondbacks, Mets, Yankees, and Angels have said to be interested in acquiring him to be more of a lefty specialist pitcher than a set-up man
  3. Boston adds reliever Delcarmen, drops Halama July 26, 2005 The Boston Red Sox called up right-handed reliever Manny Delcarmen and designated left-hander John Halama for assignment on Tuesday. Delcarmen, a second-round draft pick by Boston in 2000, had a 2.79 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 9 2-3 innings with Triple-A Pawtucket. He began the season at Double-A Portland, where he was 4-4 with three saves and a 3.23 ERA in 31 games. Halama was part of an ineffective Red Sox bullpen, going 1-1 with a 6.16 ERA in 30 games, 29 in relief, since signing as a free agent last December. His major league career began with Houston in 1998 and he pitched for Tampa Bay last season. The Red Sox have 10 days to decide whether to waive him or trade him. He is the second lefty reliever designated for assignment by Boston in eight days, following Alan Embree. Delcarmen, a Boston native, has 353 strikeouts in 326 2-3 innings over five minor-league seasons with a 19-22 record, four saves and a 3.80 ERA in 98 games. He pitched in JUST four games in the 2003 season, when he underwent elbow ligament surgery.
  4. sox have until the 29th to trade embree
  5. hmm me thinks a deal is afoot in the coming days
  6. I think I know how they are making room for manny delcarmen, watching nesn pre-game report--on bottom scroll showing the updates like lineups, then next on the bottom scroll was John Halamma Designated for Assignment, who was doing bad with a 6.18 ERA, not surprised or saddened by this call by Theo
  7. yeaa its why i laughed he quieted up on ortiz after he hit the double to deep right field--he got on my nerves cuz im trying to concentrate on the game and i even hear him sometimes over the announcers, plus have been doing for past several years that i track pitch counts, something my grandafther had gotten me used to doing each game
  8. haha twins are about to release bret boone any day now, soap opera moment again soon
  9. i dont really believe this cuz if anyone has watched the games on nesn, you will hear jerry remy talking about his recent conversation with Manny who has a new sarcastic funny comment for him each day like, "I think Ill be sent down to the minors" "or I heard Im being traded to the yankees" I think that this SI writer tooking things out of context and changed an artcled about Manny to "Manny wants to be Traded!"
  10. of course it has always been fenway for me, been going since my family got to go to a game during the 86 World Series, i was just 3 at the time tho, damn it. My favorite view has been without a doubt the right field box seats, my friend's boss has season tix and is quite the generous awesome guy occasionally giving us for several games. to sit in front row with arm resting against the peskys pole, i get goosebumps really.
  11. haha he only did it to ortiz 2 times during the game, second time ortiz hit a double to deep right field, queiting the heckler--only heard sox fans next times ortiz came up to base
  12. update for tonights game against Tampa Bay with Sox giving Clement the ball to turn the second half toward the right direction. Clement has appeared in 2 games opposing Tampa Bay, thus far having a 2-0 record with just a 1.29 ERA. Red Sox will be facing for a 3rd consecutive game a starting pitcher who they have had success against, hoping for more runs to be scored and little ammount of men left on base. Last week Mark Hendrickson, the starting pitcher, didnt even record an out with throwing pitchers to the first 6 batters who all got on base and all eventually had scored. His career againt Boston in 11 games is a 1-6 record and a high 8.23 ERA. Opponest are batting against him .391 for the month of July Mark Hendrickson vs: Johnny Damon, 7 for 19 (.368 avg) 3 Doubles, RBI, Walk, 2 Ks Edgar Renterria, 0 for 2, Walk David Ortiz, 4 for 15 (.267 avg) 2 RBIs, 2 Walks, 2 Ks Manny Ramirez, 10 for 21 (.476 avg) 4 Doubles, HR, 3 RBIs, 6 Walks Doug Mirabelli, 7 for 12 (.583 avg) Double, 4 RBIs Trot Nixon, 0 for 4, RBI Kevin Millar, 6 for 19 (.316 avg) 3 Doubles, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, 4 Walks, 2 Ks Bill Mueller, 6 for 15 (.400 avg) 3 Doubles, 3 RBIs, 2 Walks Tony G, 5 for 12 (.417 avg) 2 Doubles, HR, 2 RBIs, K John Olerud, 1 for 7 (.143 avg) 2 Ks Jason Varitek, 3 for 13 (.231 avg) Double, 2 RBIs, 2 Ks Matt Clement vs: Jorge Cantu, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) Double, 2 Ks. 14. sure thing, well at least tito now knows he has a better option then millar in the outfield, haha
  15. what a surprise yanks2010, you come back to the boards when sox are in midst of losing couple of games, but during sox taking 2 out of 3 from tampa bay, and then splitting with the white sox--nowhere to be seen, hmmm
  16. during the 2001 season with the White Sox, they had experimented with Tony G in left field for a series of games, tho limited time at best, had made no errors for those games
  17. sizzlin dude there is no point of having mueller at 2nd!!! thats why alex cora and tony g are here, helllo

  20. well by me saying "it works out for tony g, he can play all outfield and infield positions"--im pretty sure im talking about tony g
  21. yea my jaw just dropped when stern didnt even attempt to dive back to third base. he just froze on the line and then tried to get out of the way by goin into the foul territory
  22. side note did anyone here about the # 1 draft pick selected by 49ers Alex Smith? the guy hasnt even stepped on the field of a pro-game in uniform yet and they have already signed him to a six-year $57 million contract!!
