  1. ah yeah always in a tampa series, you are bound to see more action, the good/bad come in st petersberg more rather than Fenway for some reason. Tampa though is startin to be a threat even moreso to the AL East, in 2006 what a race it will to be to get to the top of the AL East now with Baltimore, Toronto, and Tampa starting to roll and make it tough for yankees and Sox
  2. Im thinking it will be more of Craig Hansen as the future closer for the Red Sox, Manny this season I dont knw ot could be possible to see him in couple games as a closer. I think he has the stuff to be a setup man maybe replace Timlin in role when he does leave in next couple seasons, or a long man. Craig Hansen, an all star closer as they come will be givin Foulke a run for his money to be our dominat closer if Foulke can not return to what he was in 2004
  3. Tony G pretty much has the 2nd base/shortstop area pretty well--man oh man he proved he could do defense last night for sure--Alex Cora will become expendable im think when Mark Bellhorn comes back off the DL, then they can move Youkilis up, but who knows maybe Youkilis will get the call up if the Twins deal does go through with him becoming the new starting 3rd baseman.
  4. oh ok yea so that was during spring training then
  5. wow I havent heard about that, though the Sox do not play another Thursday game until August 18 against the LA Angels
  6. hes already in triple A, Schilling should return the next game Clement was supposed to start which should still be an easy game for him to do, Game 1 Against Kansas City in Fenway on August 1st. I do believe Schilling has his stuff and Sox need him now more than ever to come back
  7. update for today's game at 415pm. Sox will look to Wakefield to gather together to try and get 2 out of 3 from Tampa Bay and go back home on a whirlwind roadtrip in Chicago and in St Petersberg. No doubt Trot and especially Matt will be on the Sox organization and red sox nations fans across the world as the updates continue. Like David Wells, Tim Wakefield has had great success against Tampa in 26 games, he has an 11-1 record facing them with a niice 2.85 ERA. Lou Piniella counters with another reliever turned starter, Seth McClung with an already high 7.07 ERA for 2005. And has pitched only very sparingly against the sox, in relief for 6.1 innings with a 5.68 ERA, including 2 Homeruns during that span. Seth McClung vs: Johnny Damon, Walk Edgar Renterria, 2 Walks David Ortiz, 0 for 1, K Manny Ramirez, 2 Walks Kevin Millar, 0 for 4, 2 Ks Doug Mirabelli, 1 for 1 (1.000 avg), HR, RBI Bill Mueller, 0 for 1 Tony Graffanino, 0 for 1 Jason Varitek, 0 for 3, Walk, K Tim Wakefield vs: Jorge Cantu, 2 for 5 (.400) 2 Walks Kevin Cash, 0 for 6, 2 Ks Carl Crawford, 15 for 39 (.385 avg) 4 Doubles, Triple, 4 RBIs, 3 Ks, 6 SBs Jonny Gomes, 0 for 1, Walk Alex Gonzalez, 9 for 41 (.221 avg) HR, 4 RBIs, 3 Walks, 12 Ks, 3 for 5 SBs Toby Hall, 6 for 28 (.214 avg) Double, 2 HRs, 4 RBIs, Walk, 6 Ks, 0 for 1 SBs Aubrey Huff, 4 for 42 (.095 avg) 2 HRs, 3 RBIs, Walk, 7 Ks Pete LaForest, 1 for 4 (.250 avg) Double, 2 Ks Travis Lee, 5 for 18 (.278 avg) Double, 2 HRs, 4 RBIs Julio Lugo, 5 for 20 (.250 avg) Double, 4 RBIs, 6 Walks, 4 Ks, 4 SBs Eduardo Perez, 0 for 4, Walk
  8. Schilling has seemed to find his groove, i do believe that. And Terry should listen to Curt, if he says he feels very fine to be starting, then he should start. Besides giving up a double in the 10th inning is a lot different than giving up one in the first innings of a game
  9. i jiust find it funny that when schilling as closer was announced just about every sports analyst was callin the sox out for this, and saying it will be a disaster,w hich it hasnt really as schilling is starting to find his groove and hopefully into the rotation really soon. Now Chicago will be doing same thing with Kerry Wood, have him be in the bullpen. I think our boy Curt has unknowingly developed a new strategy with startin pitchers who are hurt
  10. are Wright and Brown even expected to pitch for yanks in 2006? im thinking it wont take much to say bye bye to brown
  11. good to hear Wang hasnt been hurt so bad, but this was in yahoo sports news yesterday Brown out again, Pavano pushed back By RONALD BLUM, AP Sports Writer July 26, 2005 NEW YORK (AP) -- Kevin Brown was scratched from his scheduled start Thursday because of his bad back and Carl Pavano's return from a shoulder injury was pushed back, leaving the New York Yankees uncertain about two turns in their rotation this week. Brown was on the disabled list from June 18 to July 18, then allowed 13 runs in 7 2-3 innings over starts at Texas and the Los Angeles Angels, getting a no-decision and a loss. He met with a Dr. Yechiel Kleen in Colorado, and Yankees manager Joe Torre said Tuesday that Brown wouldn't pitch until Brown's doctor and team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon talk with each other and come up with a plan. "We're sort of just holding right now until the doctors give us the go-ahead,'' Torre said. Brown, who has chronic back pain and has been on the disabled list 13 times, came off the disabled list without any rehabilitation starts in the minors. He wouldn't address how fast he could return or whether he would be sidelined for the season. Neither he nor the Yankees divulged details of the latest diagnosis. "Pain has been a part for a long time,'' he said. "Obviously, it boils down to being able to go out and actually do the job on the field. It's not just velocity, it's movement, location, all those things are a part of it.'' Pavano, who hasn't pitched since June 27 because of a sore right shoulder, is to make a rehabilitation start Wednesday in the Gulf Coast League and throw 65-70 pitches. New York originally hoped he would start Saturday against the Angels. "We want him back 100 percent and ready to go and right,'' general manager Brian Cashman said. "We can't afford to stub our toe right now.'' Torre said the decision to bring Pavano along more slowly was made before the team heard from Brown, and that Brown's lack of a rehab start "could have influenced our thinking for sure because I had said in previous meetings here that Brownie sort of sucked it up for the club by coming back without doing a rehab.'' Aaron Small will get Brown's turn Thursday. He made his first major league start since 1996 last Wednesday and beat Texas for his first big league win since 1998. Jaret Wright, out since April 23 with a strained right shoulder, is to make his first rehab start Saturday, also for the Gulf Coast Yankees. The Yankees might use him in relief. "He could maybe come back sooner and help us out of the 'pen,'' Cashman said. "He's come a long way.'' Chien-Ming Wang, on the DL since July 9 with an inflamed right shoulder, is to start throwing on flat ground Monday at the Yankees' complex in Tampa, Fla. "He's got a long way to go,'' Cashman said. Cashman wouldn't address whether the Yankees had any interest in signing pitcher Hideo Nomo, released by Tampa Bay. Even with the injuries, the Yankees began Tuesday just one game behind AL East-leading Boston. "We're very fortunate where we are right now considering the state of our starters,'' Torre said. Notes OF Ruben Sierra, who strained his right hamstring July 18, is taking batting practice and hopes to start a rehab assignment this weekend.
  12. turning point of last season was tek and arod fighting in fenway park--this could be the moment for the team to gather together and play their hearts out--very intriguin stat, in 2004 at 100 game mark Sox were 55-45, and were also 8 games behind the Yankees----in 2005, Sox are 55-45
  13. Wang does have the makings to be a caliber pitcher. in 2006 a pitching rotation that starts off johnson, mussina and wang will be a threat to most teams. I heard he has a shoulder inflammation, ouch hopes ges better from that
  14. here here, if it were to happen to a yankee pitcher. i wouldnt be happy at all about, i may from generations passed down on me have this rival energy against the yankees, but I never in my mind would wish physical harm against them. Matt and Trot you get healthy, all pulling for your recovery. Your boys had won that game for you two in what was the most inspiring victory by far for the Red Sox of 2005.
  15. Im gonna miss Mueller a hell of a lot, team player as they come. yea god i heard a twins representative said theyre not sure if they want to give up romero for mueller who is more or less a rent-a-player, wouldnt at all call mueller that, besides betting since minnesota is close to mueller's hoemtwon of St Louis--i iw ouldnt be surprised if he were to try and get another season or 2 with teh twins before retiring
  16. yes and i was accompanying with you on the joke
  17. yea exactly a therapist is the key, A-Rod can give you a good referral
  18. its just frustration from players trying to help their team out and costing them an out in an inning-- a recent interview with ortiz was with him saying "Its like the umpires this season have broadened the strike zone when I step up to bat, number of times balls thrown away will be called as balls. Its just so frustrating for me to disappoint my fans and teammates on ******** calls like that"
  19. Babe Ruth as well should be in that list, same games hed be striking out the side, would also be belting balls into the next districts
  20. yes im sure gabe kapler can fill that role he did last season which he batted under .300--an obliques strain in late july, that kind of pain is unbearable, wish him the best of luck and to get better, September does seem like the best bet--for trades I just think Sox are keen on bullpen pitchers and adding a new startin pitcher as they were already lookin at way before last night's incident
  21. i think a deal of Embree, Shoppach, and Alvarez or Moss should entice Florida to give the sox Aj and a prospect of theirs
  22. i think moreso since gabe kapler coming back, sox might just try to look within and give him the start, he had a great season in 2004 picking up for trot appearing in 136 games--plus it will save money and a prospect or two
  23. evaluations will be today, your guess is as good as mine
  24. yea sorry dude, a truce is in order, last nights win which was the most inspiring victory of the 2005 season had got my mind all jumbled with thoughts of losing all-star clement as well as Trot Nixon in same inning, no doubt Gabe Kapler will be called up earlier than expected
  25. ok i said Theo probably got no sleep last nite worrying about his all star pitcher and outfielder hurt in same inning but yet from you i f***in said he was 100% worrying about his rotation. Also I was just merely suggesting it could be an option, because I am just as anybody worried the f*** about his sake and health. Sox do not know fully well if he is perfectly fine, there is still evaluations and such to go through. Im not acting as if theo needs to get out there and make a push for starting pitcher he should get and sideline matt. did i ever say matt clement was not our ace, no i never did, in all my posts before I have praised clement for pulling the team together for the first half. Yes Wade will be dominant with having great defense behind him and not throwing over 60 pitches thru the first 3 innings of each game.... and by the way Schilling(who hasn't even started a game this year), um yea actually he started 3 games in april
