  1. yes i know that, his win/loss record doesnt compare to his ok ERA, but i was pointing out the one game he started against the Angels, those numbers I think is what called is bad
  2. im optimistic for tomorrow LA/NY game as Yankees make another experiment with a pitcher that the team really didnt want, Shawn Chacon of the Rockies, a 1-7 record for 2005 with a 4.09 ERA. He has started one game against the Angels and its not so good numbers, only lasted 5 innings giving up 11 runs on 12 hits, that factors into a high 19.80 ERA
  3. i think what the fans are media are all up in arms for that yes Tito gave him the day off but the night of both Trot and Matt getting hurt, Tito said he went up to Manny that same night and said "we are really in a bind here with Trot getting hurt, could you be able to play tomorrow and give you a day off later on" and Manny had told him no that he really needed the day off, which he had spent watching the game from the bench. I just thought it was weird to see him in full uniform, Trot was also sitting on the bench but he had a sweatshirt and jeans on.
  4. Angels certainly have their number, winning 6 out of 8 games against NY
  5. Rangers already have the offense, #1 on the list for texas is starting pitching---so yea Im scratchin my head on this one that they give up Park for a 1st baseman when they already have a 1st baseman in the all-star form of mark texeira
  6. alriiight Angels own Yankees, as Mike Mussina most consistent starter took the loss, 4-1--putting Yankees now 2.5 games behind the Sox
  7. Curt had thrown just 12 pitches so still a little shot he could get the chance but moreso Im leaning to Paplebon getting the start for Sunday--And other thoughts, man Tony G is just looking great out there on the field making great diving stops for balls and the double plays he and rent have turned have been nothing but crisp, and hey he did get a hit that later he was able to turn the wheels on and score from first on Minnesota's lackluster defense.
  8. next tuesday, game 1 against kansas city--there will be more of an idea once they figure out who is pitching Sunday--Rumors are abound it could be Wakefield being bumped up, Paplebon getting his major league start or Curt Schilluing coming back
  9. Wade Miller is said to have problems with his shoulder come up again, feeling stiffness, he will start next wednesday. Matt Clement will make his next start either next Thursday or Saturday.
  10. Rays Scouting Sox; Huff, Baez Boston-Bound? Jerry Beach - Scout.com July 28, 2005 at 5:27am ET NEW BRITAIN, CT-Torrential rains Wednesday night forced the postponement of the Eastern League game between Portland and New Britain and delayed Anibal Sanchez' audition for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.Sanchez, a hard-throwing right-hander whose stock has risen dramatically this season, is one of at least three Portland players being tracked this week by a Devil Rays scout. Sanchez was scheduled to start Wednesday; instead, he will start today's game against New Britain at 11:30 a.m. Left-handed pitcher Jon Lester and infielder Kenny Perez are also being scouted by the Rays, who are on their way to another last-place finish in the AL East. But that ineptitude could pay dividends before Sunday's trading deadline: The Rays are one of the few "sellers" in a jumbled trade market and several of their players are drawing interest throughout baseball, most notably closer Danys Baez and outfielder/first baseman Aubrey Huff. The Sox have obvious needs for another late-inning arm and, with Trot Nixon on the disabled list and Kevin Millar failing to produce at first base, another bat in the lineup. And the perpetually rebuilding and cost-cutting Rays could use youngsters such as Sanchez, Lester and Perez. Baez, 27, has 19 saves for a team that's won only 36 games, and he's often used for more than three outs by Lou Piniella. When Keith Foulke was healthy and effective last season, Terry Francona often relied on him to get more than three outs. Baez' contract runs through this season, but there's a team option for $4.million for 2006.Huff is recovering from a slow first half (.256 with eight homers and 45 RBI) with a vengeance: He's hit two grand slams in the last six days and four homers overall since the All-Star Break, including a solo shot into the right field seats at Fenway July 20. David Wells , the pitcher that served up the homer, was so impressed by it he doffed his cap in the direction of right field. Like Millar, Huff is a jack-of-all-trades in the field who is probably better suited to DH duties. But Huff, 28, is five years younger than Millar and signed through next season at $6.75 million, and his acquisition by the Sox would solidify a position with no clear heir apparent to Millar, who is a free agent after this season. However, as much as the Sox could use Baez and/or Huff, there's no guarantee they'll pay the price necessary to end up with either player. No general manager in the game is harder to trade with than the Rays' Chuck LaMar, who regularly makes outrageous, one-sided offers. But he's emboldened after fleecing the Mets for Scott Kazmir in exchange for Victor Zambrano last July 30. In addition, Theo Epstein is determined to build from within, and no pitching prospect in the organization has a higher ceiling than Sanchez, who is 7-2 with a 2.21 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 92 2/3 innings for Wilmington and Portland this season. Some believe Sanchez is one of three near-untouchables in the chain along with Portland infielder Hanley Ramirez and Pawtucket right-hander Jon Papelbon. In addition to Sanchez, the Rays scout is also eyeing Lester and Perez. Lester, a 21-year-old the Sox drafted in the first round of the 2002 draft, has lasted just 4 2/3 innings in each of his last two starts, but he's been outstanding the rest of the time for the Sea Dogs (7-4 with a 2.51 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 107 2/3 innings). Perez (.289 with four homers, 28 RBI and seven stolen bases in 65 games for the Sea Dogs) delivered the game-winning hit in the Eastern League All-Star Game July 13, but the 23-year-old's path to Boston is blocked by the likes of Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia .
  11. The Red Sox will look to get their third win in a row and try to widen the gap of breathing room from the Yankees who will be facing the Angels this wknd. Wade Miller will be given day off to rest his shoulder some more and Bronson has been moved up to tonight, David Wells moved up to tomorrow. Sunday is currently to be announced who is starting. Minnesota counters with Carlos Silva, who is 7-4 this season with a 3.38 ERA, he doesnt walk a lot of guys (only 7) but at same is a not a strikeout pitcher (just 47 in 130 innings!!!). In two career starts against Boston, he is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA. Carlos Silva vs: Johnny Damon, 0 for 3 Edgar Renterria, 0 for 2 Manny Ramirez, 0 for 3 David Ortiz, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) Walk Jason Varitek, 1 for 4 (.250 avg) Double, 2 Ks Kevin Millar, 2 for 5 (.400 avg) Double, Walk Bill Mueller, 2 for 3 (.667 avg) Alex Cora, 4 for 12 (.333 avg) Double, 2 RBIs Tony G, 2 for 8 (.250 avg) K John Olerud, 2 for 10 (.200 avg) RBI Bronson has had just one career game against Minnesota, but still a 1-0 record with a 2.45 ERA. I think its safe to say now he will be staying in Boston for 2005, either Marlins will stick with AJ or trade him off to Chicago. Bronson Arroyo vs: Weepy-Boy Bret Boone, 3 for 10 (.300 avg) Double, 2 RBIs, 2 Ks Michael Cuddyer, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) Double, 2 Ks Torii Hunter, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) Jacque Jones, 0 for 3, K Justin Morneau, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) Double, K Mike Redmond, 0 for 1 Shannon Stewart, 0 for 4, K
  12. Wade Miller is said to have problems come up with his shoulder again, and needs undetermined time to rest some more
  13. t-shirt for George "I payed $200 million on my roster this season, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"
  14. well he did have the d-lowe syndrome, played as an all star in the October playoffs--but thats about it, lets see how it will turn out be in mid-August
  15. kinda sad looking at the yahoo sports page, the top batters for the teams had 2 hits in 7 at bats, haha. Toronto and Angels have hell of bullpens to go that long
  16. Id like: Boston: Manny Ramirez, Kelly Shoppach, Abe Alvarez, Kevin Youkilis Mets: Cliff Floyd (278 avg with 23 HRs), Looper, and Wright--that would be adding two big bats for us in Wright and Floyd Floyd is the better option to take over the void left by Manny, Cameron this year just has 10
  17. Ok I was assuming since he was having the day off, hed be away from the ballpark, no he was on the bench watching the game. It just got me so mad at some times Sox were struggling for game 3 against Tampa Bay, and then it was showing Manny just sitting there watchging and chewing his gum. Hope he realizez there wont be cheers he'll be hearing tonight at Fenway.
  18. Wow I just woke up and turned on ESPN and last night the Toronto Blue Jays faced off against the LA Angels and it took 18 innings to end the game, with Toronto getting the win. And I thought our October playoffs seemed to drag on forever haha. Believe it or not longest game in history took place at the Pawtucket Sox, which had taken 26 innings.
  19. come Saturday when Kapler comes back, should send Hyzdu back to the Pawtucket, hes made two fielding errors and 0 for 8 in his at bats with 3 strikeouts
  20. actually Stern will serve as our "Dave Roberts" pinch running in the late innings, we know he has bat power contact with a homerun in Chicago and besides he just started his major league career, so bound to get better at what he does. You want to talk about useless that is very much moreso Adam Hyzdu
  21. oh sorry i didnt realize I had to put my posts to be processed by you. "this is beneath you" what the f*** ever dude, I was just posting an email from a NESN announcer who is more in favor of Tony G getting the start even when Bellhorn is back
  22. hey dale svelum is not as bad as the twin's 3rd base coach, haha
  23. your boy Aaron Small is doing the job theyve aksed him to, 2 consecutive good starts, at least seeing the way minnesota offense is right now, hopefully Sox can take advantage of the pounding yankees did to them, well except for last night's 7-3 loss to Minnesota though they did leave 11 men on base thru first 5 innings, now that is worse than the sox's baserunning, haha
  24. Wow Aaron Small is doing alright, he just won his second start today, not bad for a guy who hasnt pitched in awhile, plus it did help him with Minnesota's fluttering offense led by the weepy boy Boone (did I really suggest him to be our 2nd baseman?? haha). Yanks beat Minnesota 6-3, Small lasted 7 innings giving up 6 hits, 3 runs, and striking out one
