  1. with their pitching in shambles, all Yankees have going for them is the offense--which yes is looking to be not a chance so far to last into the days of October, now 3.5 back from 1st place and 4.5 back from the Wild Card which either the A's or Angels will easily garb
  2. the Red Sox play their last 13 games against the East, while the Yankees play their last 25 games against the East
  3. did papi hit 26 HRs in July, no he had hit 26 from July to end of the season
  4. for defense yes, which makes him liable now to just be a backup and let Tony G take over
  5. lmao yea 109 Ks shows pitchers are staying wary of this guy when hes up at bat, that must also be same thing down in Pawtucket with Bell tearing the cover off the ball, 0 for 8 with 4 strikeouts in first two rehab games
  6. Hes belting homeruns peroid and you are making it to be all 14 of his have been in Yankee Stadium, 6 of the 14 have been away from NY including fenway Park
  7. you do realize that everyone on ESPn, Fox sports, average joe fans, etc. are thinking like this? How can we all not suspect him of doing so, with his name being called up last winter for the steroids scanda, this "hot streak" of his and now "truthful" Raffy has been caught doing hard steroids
  8. ?? which is why hes whiffing at them
  9. yeah exactly Mark Bellhorn's 3 homeruns in 3 games is exactly the same as Giambi just having 5 homeruns from April through June, and then breaking out with 14 in July
  10. Sox really have got to see that with two remaining games againt KC then 3 games again against the Twins, have very good opportunity to open the gap
  11. people people, steroids helps build strength--the strength that will be behind the bat to belt the ball into the next district
  12. glad the deal didnt go through--can you believe Tampa thought Boston wouldve easily given them Hanley?!
  13. he did go into the thrd inning but didnt record an out--He started off the third inning priceless, in 16 pitches he had walked the bases loaded, lmao, then somebody from the Guardians hit a double that drove in two more runs--Yea I think its safe to say Yankees wont be giving him an extension next season
  14. Tony G continues to light it up, he has now hit safely in 8 of the 9 games he has played with the Sox, going 2 for 4 last night, one of which drove in the tying run
  15. Al Leiter is definitely their ace losing his thrird straight game by lasting 2 full innings givin up just 4 hits, 5 walks, and 5 earned runs to cross the plate haha. And his ERA is now at 6.05
  16. i didnt say postseason at all, they might try him out in regular season games for 05--but so far I wouldnt expect him to make the roster for the October playoffs in the closer role
  17. could give Sox a backup plan in case Foulke still pitches the way he did this season, god forbid that of course
  18. very interesting news to hear, Tom Caron and Dennis Eckersley have said on NESN that Papelbon has been sent back to Triple A to start him off in a program of the steup role as well as try him in the closer spot, which what he would be doing for rest of 2005 season with the Sox. Tito did say Papelbon could most likely be in the starting rotation in 06
  19. you are right elsrbruneo, Bellhorn needs time down in the minors to work everything out, in todays afternoon game he remained hitless going 0-3 with 2 strikeouts. Currently in first 2 games he is 0 for 8 with 4 strikeouts
  20. wow damn sounds good, Sox very could well add them for bullpen help for remainder of season, and if Olerud is still hurt since he tweaked his hamstrings, Roberto Petagine would be a nice call up as well.
  21. hey theres always a movie career for him Shazamm 2 anyone? Or how about him to utter the words again "Its hammer time!"
  22. im just saying a $100 million contract for a player who since is aging is injury prone more than ever--well compensated? hes already a millionaire as it is. My thinking is that such a contract as in $100 million for a basketball player going into his 40's might come around to bite them
  23. Are Suns Assinine for signing againg Shaq to big contract? Thats what Im thinking anyway, no such best bet is that he is worth this much money at this tiem of his career. AP Newsbreak: Heat, O'Neal agree on $100 million deal By TIM REYNOLDS, AP Sports Writer August 2, 2005 MIAMI (AP) -- Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat agreed Tuesday on a $100 million, five-year contract, one that presumably will keep the 12-time All-Star center playing past his 38th birthday The deal will be signed later Tuesday, said O'Neal's agent Perry Rogers. "We wanted to make sure that Shaquille was being compensated well into his career,'' Rogers told The Associated Press. ``We also wanted to make sure he was paid his value. And it was important the Heat had flexibility they need in the short-term to win a championship. "It's about winning.'' O'Neal was vacationing Tuesday and not immediately available for comment. Earlier Tuesday, O'Neal opted out of the final year of his existing deal, one that would have paid him $30.6 million this coming season. The 7-foot-1, 327-pound O'Neal made an immediate impact during his first season with Miami, which acquired him in July 2004 from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for three players and a draft choice. He averaged 22.9 points and 10.4 rebounds in the regular season, leading the league with a 60.1 field goal percentage. O'Neal ranked sixth in the league in blocks (2.34 per game), double-doubles (43) and rebounds. A bruised thigh, suffered late in the regular season, limited his playoff effectiveness; the Heat were the No. 1-seeded team in the East, yet lost to Detroit in Game 7 of the conference finals -- the finest postseason showing in the Heat franchise's 17-year history. O'Neal had previously led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA titles from 2000-2002.
