  1. before tonight's game, Gordon against Sox in 2005 in 8 games had an ERA of 5.87, so hasnt really had Sox's number in 2005
  2. if sox are to lose, it would be from the breakdown of the pitching in the 7th inning--Plus Sox have left 10 men on base
  3. oh well, thats in the past now--just gotta look forward to sox relievers try and shut down the scoring of the Yanks, and have the offense wake up. they are more than able to 3/4/5 run inning
  4. this is how to get yourself some more playing time Harville, strike out first 2 batters at yankee stadium
  5. Cleveland won tonight 4-2, retain the wild card lead for another day
  6. right so you are saying opposing teams are just letting the Patriots win?
  7. yea im surprised cano was actually able to get to the ball that time
  8. thank you cano, jeez he doesnt end ground balls all that well. 8-4, Varitek will come up as the tying run with 1 out, probably be tom gordon (another former Red Sox pitcher)
  9. he hasnt been the only one whos left men on base, so he shouldnt get any critics
  10. alright wells, settle it down, and go as long as you can until hand it over to the rested bullpen
  11. "just because he is a DH, he shouldnt get the MVP" is rather an assinine statement. who are the MLB to deny baseball's greatest clutch hitter this award?
  12. ooh wow his first inning of throwing under 20 pitches, im scared now
  13. still dude he is getting squeezed by the umps right about now. besides, aaron Small has had to throw 61 pitches in the first 3 innings, which means sox could face soon the depleted yankees middle relief
  14. Dale Sveum god damn it, i hope you are gone next season!!! he did the same exact thing last time at yankee stadium
  15. f***ing web gem by mueller!! i hope his hand is ok, it look like it had got him jammed... back to aaron small and build on this slim 3-2 lead
  16. pitcher vs batter matchups David Wells vs: (career against Yankees in 42 games an 18-9 record with a 2.96 ERA) Derek Jeter, 17 for 53 (.321 avg) 2 Doubles, 3 HRs, 7 RBIs, Walk, 7 Ks, SB Jason Giambi, 6 for 24 (.250 avg) 2 Doubles, RBI, 4 Walks, 2 Ks Hideki Matsui, 3 for 12 (.250 avg) RBI, 2 Ks Jorge Posada, 8 for 26 (.308 avg) 4 Doubles, 4 Ks Matt Lawton, 6 for 31 (.194 avg) 2 Doubles, 7 RBIs, 2 Walks, K Robinson Cano, 2 for 3 (.667 avg) K Tino Mafrtinez, 6 for 35 (.171 avg) Double, 2 RBIs, 8 Ks John Flaherty, 3 for 20 (.150 avg) Double, 2 RBIs, 3 Ks Mark Bellhorn, 1 for 10 (.100 avg) 5 Ks Alex Rodriguez, 22 for 65 (.338 avg) 4 Doubles, 7 HRs, 17 RBIs, 2 Walks, 13 Ks Ruben Sierra, 23 for 69 (.333 avg) 5 Doubles, 2 HRs, 10 RBIs, 4 Walks, 9 ks, 3 SBs Bernie Williams, 16 for 70 (.229 avg) 2 Doubles, 3 HRs, 8 RBIs, 5 walks, 11 Ks Tony Womack, 1 for 7 (.143 avg) Walk, K Aaron Small vs: (1st career appearance against Red Sox) Johnny Damon, 0 for 4 Bill Mueller, 0 for 3, K John Olerud, 2 Walks David Ortiz, 0 for 1, K Manny Ramirez, 1 for 5 (.200 avg) Walk haha what happened to your Iron man Small 6 hits, 3 runs in first 2 innings
  17. ah sorry about that, i had gone to work right after i posted this, i was just so excited
  18. anyone going to do tonight's game thread?
  19. no its their never ending change of names for the Angels "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim"
  20. other news, Bell and Embree will have to do without Sheffield tonight. Its just been reported he might need another day off, they are not sure if he can be able to pinch hit, blow to the Yankees offense has Sheffield has been the most dominant batter of their lineup against the Sox, .435 avg with 4 HRs. all other Yanks batters have been hitting under .250 against the Sox this season
  21. Mark has shutout his Sox ex-team mates which he has no right to do so at all. and jay wasnt realeased from boston, he had requested a trade to another team that would give him more playing time. Do you really think Yankee fans will be leniant on Bell if he K's 4 times in a game? as Jay said, he will get it worse at Yankee Stadium
  22. oh well those 2 teams then were both going for him, but that is in the past and tek here is stay as our captain through 2008
  23. Why does Embree feel confident that hes gotten Ortiz 3 times, all strikeouts? (1) Ortiz is a much better hitter since Embree faced him when he was a Minnesota Twin (2) Embree was a great reliever at the time he faced Papi
  24. He was close to signing a deal with the White Sox last December
  25. Orioles have already indicated theyd like to go for mike piazza this offseason to be their new DH
