  1. Are you still talking? Whatever, we realize he wont be close to 2004 level, but he is set for a comeback in the area of 15 wins/3.90-4.15 ERA
  2. If he shows the same glovework and exceeds far past Gonzalez in offense for spring training, I could see it happening. Obviously Gonzo having a starting role is not yet a given. Why else would they sign him to a contract that only becomes guaranteed if he makes it to opening day?
  3. True about that Sox could get a free agent starting pitcher next offseason, moreso because I believe this could be Wake's last year in the rotation. He will of course still be on the team for 07, but relegated to more of a solid middle relief option.
  4. Too bad Petagine wont get much of a chance now as insurance down in Pawtucket. One aspect of his that I like was having him on when there was RISP, including bases loaded. I think there was 2 times he had cleared the bases
  5. Hey SFOC I'll be in for this one
  6. Myself, Im a firm believer in keeping Lester. Whether or not the trade involves a player like Tejada.
  7. It is still possibile for Pedroia to win it. Sucks that NESN carries just 8 spring training games, but I'll still take them gladly.
  8. coming from MLB.com, the Angels have officially declined this offer. I think it was a PR stunt by the Sox FO to then turn around and say to Manny, "See we did try, try next offseason when its just 2 years/$40 million."
  9. I wouldnt mind now if they were to have enrique Wilson (over Willie Harris) on the opening day roster on the bench. (1) Of course that will get manny very happy (2) Sox Nation wont be only ones seeing a loved player of theirs switch uniforms
  10. very true, him also losing considerable weight over the offseason is a good sign as well. Less weight he has to push off his ankle. This is alo around the projected time they gave for the ankle to fully heal from surgery
  11. i was of course "speculating" and shooting the s***, doesnt actually mean I think it will 100% happen
  12. Arent those 3, second baseman/shortstop type prospects? If so just need one of them since Pedroia is set to be the Sox shortstop for 2007 if not sooner. Just a thought top of my head, its fun to speculate Red Sox- Santana, Figgins, Kendrick Angels- Manny, Wells, Graffanino, prospect Jed Lowrie
  13. another sweet matchup of former teammates that just phased by me, is currently set to be the home opening game which is against the Blue Jays of Beckett vs Burnett
  14. I tried to find who had proposed this trade idea recently but I could find it to give the respected poster props.
  15. Thats the general concensus. Even if he has a sub-par year, I get goosebumps of how big & long of a standing O he will receive for his last AB as a Red Sox at Fenway.
  16. I was doing the figuring in my head and that would be the 26 game of the season, if Boston's and NY's current said rotations should be on a nice routine basis. We would see these cool matchups May 1- Schilling vs RJ (Im hoping for this because it'll be about damn time)- pitcher's duel i could see, not sure who would come out on top May 2- Beckett vs Mussina
  17. Who else could forget Trot's best moment of 2005 which also happened against the Yanks of course, his inside the parker not as memorable as the shot off of clemens of course. But definitely was unexpected
  18. eh, he's not like "Optimist", "26 to 6", and "Alexander". At least they try to keep the Red Sox vs Yanks arguments to a minimum.
  19. How he do in September when he was starting to regain some of his form? Oh thats right 3 total earned runs in 2 starts, one at yankee stadium the other at fenway
  20. my assumption, if by some means Trot is not on the DL (.283 avg) (.355 OBP) 23 Hrs, 92 RBIs
  21. I have not addressed their offense because I do realize that they are set to have the best offense of baseball, so its a non-issue
  22. Sorry I had misread when I saw Youk's name right after
  23. just one little nitpick being that even though Lowell had a down offensive year, he was still the best 3rd baseman of the NL. Getting the same ammount or even more that Billy Ballgame gave us. More of a comfort level to Lowell is that former Marlin Gonzo is still on board with him. Youkilis might surprise, obviously upgrade over Millar. And backing him up is JT, enough has been said about this guy.
  24. Every year divisional team's ownage changes. In 2004 the Sox easily had the Blue Jays #. But this past season by September they (especially Clement) acted like "Ah not these guys again!!"
  25. True but Wells isnt a 10-5 guy, since of course because he cant stay with the same team for more than 2 seasons it seems like. If the Brewers were to come and offer Carlos Lee for Wells, Nixon and an outfield prospect. There would be no hesitation on Theo's part to get it done. Not "oh but what if Wells gives us a bad phone call?" Well obviously the Sox would balk at the request of Lester, kind of a no-brainer. Hey its a free country, I can throw up ideas. Doesnt actually mean I think it will 100% happen
