  1. he was more of a utility player than a starer for the season, not just just half the season. A utility man's main job is to defend & save runs in the late innings (hitting is just an added bonus for utility), yes lets discount all the great plays he had made in the 2004 season.
  2. Josh Bard sets out on the right foot toward becoming Wake's new personal catcher. Despite couple passed balls--Wake had 4 solid shutout innings giving up 2 hits, 2 Walks, and struck out 2 batters. Huckaby is still re-habbing his knee, I dont see him going anywhere. His contract notes that it will be terminated if he doesnt make the big league roster
  3. sorry i just thought it was common fact that Wake is going to be in the rotation for 06, not the pen, hence the search for his new personal catcher. Francona is also said to pencil him in as the #2 starter. I just believe Papelbon wont get the spot he deserves unless Wells, Clement (most likely now) or Arroyo gets dealt.
  4. sorry but Wake will be in the rotation this season, it wouldve been reported by now. Plus they wouldnt have these catcher tryouts to be Wake's new personal catcher. here's edes mailbag question I think you were referring to
  5. todays stats of the 6-4 loss to the Dodgers. Bronson got rocked in his 2nd straight start of spring training. The relief core of Rule 5 draft Vermilyea, Seibel, Bausher, Alvarez, and Hansen had combined for 7 innings giving up just 1 run. On offense the rally had started late and was capped off by Jed Lowrie's pinch hit 2-run jack in the 9th inning. J.T. Snow is also contributing well thus far, we could be seeing him starting some games.
  6. Yesss I was hoping they would resign Artrell, he was one of those unknown pickups that had done a great job in Belichick's system. He helped the secondary be stronger in the 2nd half, and was good to have on special teams.
  7. about the BH people, the only one I had a problem with was "The Rivernator", for his own good & ours he hasnt posted in some time now.
  8. I remember in January when Sox were expected to go into 2006 with Cora as the shortstop and before Coco Crisp talks. There was a short lived hot stove rumor, David Wells going to Arizona for outfielder Shawn Green and Alex Cintron who wouldve taken backup duties behind Cora. Kenny Williams did have a smart offseason in helping his team still be the best team in baseball entering the season, I expect them to win the central again. Overall good move for Chicago, and Bajenaru could be a decent middle relief man for Arizona.
  9. Hanley wouldve still come up, he has been since the trade the leading candidate to play shortstop--Pokey was going to compete for 2nd base --------------------- yesterday's pitching stats, Breslow & Van Buren did decent work, pretty much it for the staff that allowed at least 1 run each inning. Overall it shouldnt be something to be worried about all, since a good handful of the players onhand wont make the opening day roster or even stay in the organization. David Pauley (L 0-1)- 3 innings, 5 Hits, 3 Runs, 7.20 ERA Matt Ginter- 2 nnings, 5 Hits, 3 Runs, 18.00 ERA Mike Holtz- 1 inning, 3 Hits, 2 Runs, 2 Ks, 6.00 ERA Mike Bumatay- 0.2 inning, 2 Hits, 1 Run, 2 Walks, K, 4.91 ERA Craig Breslow- 1 inning, 2 Hits, 3 Runs (0 ER), K, 0.00 ERA Jermaine Van Buren- 0.1 inning, Hit, Walk, 0.00 ERA Sox batters could only get 3 hits off of the Marlins pitching. The fielding was off with 3 errors. *Mark Loretta had a single, now batting .571 *David Murphy got his first hit (double) in spring training, now batting .077 *Kevin Youkilis got a double and had scored the lone run on Enrique Wilson's sacrifice fly when the bases were loaded with 0 outs, now batting .091

  11. yep he's on a mission to make sure he's on the roster more than the first 17 days the Sox have to keep him aboard.
  12. That ball was sssmoked
  13. white sox & d-backs have done a spring training trade
  14. Adam Stern with an inside the parker, hit for the mother friggin cycle!! lets see some more of that in the reg. season
  15. Gordon Edes in his mailbag, believes that Clement will get traded. For what I dont know. But I will be relieved, because it would give Paps the spot he deserves.
  16. Its the "Al Leiter of old age", so I knew coming in that he wouldnt be at the top of his game.
  17. He finished out on top with a well-deserved ring, last MLB game was actually in the 04 world series.
  18. Thanks for the memories, I cant remember all the thrills you had given us and the other teams you had played for .
  19. Papi's both HR's came off of lefties, now thats good to hear
  20. final pitching stats for today's 10-6 win over the Orioles. Seanez & Riske, try to have a clean outing you next time out. I understand its just spring training, but you gotta show the brass something (both are up to 3 appearances) Jon Papelbon- 3 innings, 4 Hits, 2 Runs, 2 Ks, 7.71 ERA Rudy Seanez- 1 inning, 2 Hits, 2 Runs, Walk, K, 18.00 ERA David Riske- 1 inning, 2 Hits, 2 Runs, K, 11.25 ERA Cla Meredith (W 1-0)- 2 innings, 2 Hits, K, 0.00 ERA Manny Delcarmen- 1 inning, 0.00 ERA Edgar Martinez- 1 inning, K, 0.00 ERA
  21. We understand all of that, Im just against moreso that you posted the thread just after hearing about his death. Sorrrry for the way that I think.
  22. About Flaherty, he is now the 5th Yankee of 2005 to retire
  23. Bonds is so lucky he doesnt have to play at Fenway this season, people would just buy tix so they can boo
  24. Josh Bard becomes the new favorite Ken Huckaby will not resume playing for another 10 days due to re-habbbing of his knee.
