  1. The Titans and David Givens have agreed on money (5 years/$24.5 million), we should be hearing an official announcement soon. http://www.rctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060314/SPORTS01/603140375/1002/MTCN0302 The Patriots' sought after free agent wide receivers were Jurevicis (signed with Browns) and Brian Finneran (resigned with Falcons). So your guess is as good as mine when they will start being active with the extra $17 million under the cap, and what the receiving corps will be. Branch & Johnson are only WRs locked for next season, Troy Brown is leaning toward coming back. I heard on WEEI the Pats are looking to talk to TE Jeb Putzier from the Broncos
  2. Foxsports writer Dayn Perry, who recently picked the Red Sox as tops in 2006 AL East, has now proclaimed the Red Sox will be the top team in all of baseball. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/powerRankings
  3. I just read that even though he is being optioned, Lester is still penciled down for 2 more starts. One of which comes this Thursday against Tampa http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060313&content_id=1347832&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos
  4. Alex Gonzalez showed some good glove today as well, CBS news had shown 2 web gem plays. One of which he had dove for a groundball, then on one knee threw a one-hopper to J.T. Snow
  5. today's stats of the 7-5 loss to the Dodgers, the Sox now stand at 3-8 for spring training. The fielding was off again with 4 errors, 3 of them came from expected opening day regulars (Crisp, Youk, Bard). Loretta continues his solid hitting, comeback season is almost looking like definite. Youkilis homered for his 2nd straight game. Alex Gonzalez connected with his first HR of the spring. Non-roster invitee Ron Calloway also had a 2 run HR which for the very short time had tied up the game in the 9th inning. Pitching, Clement's first official spring start was a successful one, 4 scoreless with 3 Ks. Craig Hansen added another scoreless inning to his stats, and guess what.... Rudy Seanez had a clean outing. No wait he did give up a run, sorry false alarm.
  6. Schill just wants to have the intimidation of Pedro & RJ because he's noticed batters nowadays are comfortable hovering over the plate. He isnt trying to give guys concussions or worse. He's just talking like a veteran ballplayer would, also known to be a media whore anyway so why care about this?
  7. yesterday's stats in the 6-3 loss to Minn. The relief core behind Papelbon was solid allowing 5 hits & 1 run over 6.2 innings.
  8. Former Bronco Mike Anderson has joined the Ravens http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/football/bal-ravens312,0,7828733.story?coll=bal-sports-football ----------- EDIT: Ravens will also hold onto Jamal Lewis http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-ravens-jlewis&prov=ap&type=lgns
  9. Like Chacon said, "that was one of the worst 3 inning shutout I had ever thrown." He threw just 32 of his 62 pitches as strikes
  10. Christian Fauria joins fellow ex-Patriot David Patten, close to deal with Redskins http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/12/AR2006031200639.html
  11. As expected, Edgerrin James has been picked up by the Cardinals http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2365467
  12. Papelbon has now allowed 8 ER in 8 innings pitched Like Schilling's start yesterday, Papelbon started out solid then crumbled to the opposing team's bats. Heres hoping he has a clean outing next time around, and hoping I actually get to see a win. I know its just spring training, still like to see wins none the less
  13. I wish Davis the best of luck. Best moment of his short lived career with the Pats was the air-mailed 60 yard TD catch.
  14. Good to hear, Lenny DiNardo is back in camp in Ft Myers. As expected, his Italy team was bumped out early. Adam Stern from Canada, and non-roster Trent Durrington from Australia should arrive sometime this week.
  15. Yawn, thats all I have to say about this. I'll keep note that you put Lester down for a debut not until 2008 or 09. Anything close to last year's numbers, and we could be seeing him make his debut in the 2nd half. I do think that a positive can be that in his 2nd inning, despite the HR, he had settled down more. Two of his last 3 batters went down by the way of the K.
  16. Yeah I guess one spring training game (2 innings total) can make the front office think, "even though he's been lights out thus far, this one appearance beckons that he could be a dud"
  17. Mohr with a shot to left field, his 2nd this spring!! Sox retake the lead, 5-4. Even before now, I have believed that Mohr will be a valuable bench player
  18. I just had heard about it on today's NESN boradcast of Sox vs Pirates
  19. 1st inning Sox batters made Pirates' Vogelsong work thru the 1st inning, 28 pitches total. 2-0 lead Alex Gonzalez is 0 for 10. Mark Loretta continues to contact well with a single, 5 for 9 J.T. Snow is 6 for 12 with 4 RBIs in spring training, had knocked in Loretta with a RBI Double Dustan Mohr laced a single to up his stats to .455 Bard had a drawn a walk which led to Graffanino's RBI ground out Schilling has a 1-2-3 inning with couple of Ks (11 pitches). It was capped off by Mohr's diving catch in right field --------------- 2nd inning, Sox lead 4-0 Machado leads off the inning with a triple, he is tearing it up so far with a .467 avg in 7 spring training games with 4 RBIs Alex Gonzalez picks up his first hit of spring training, an RBI double to score Machado J.T. Snow now picks it up at 7 for 13 with 5 RBIs, an RBI single scores Gonzalez Schilling has another clean inning just having to throw 8 pitches, 19 altogether. Snow had committed an error but didnt have any impact with the inning ending double play.
  20. Beckett in today's minor league matchup 4 innings, 2 hits, 0 Runs, 7 Ks
  21. Beckett will be pitching but it will be against a minor league team. Today against the Pirates will be Schilling's first start against major league batters. You can catch it on NESN today at 1, if you have it.
  22. This is not about ESPN 2K6, but I have just played MLB 06: The Show. This I believe is the best baseball game for 2006. Granted not as good as the MVP games. It goes down each lineup, starting pitchers and relief pitchers-- Comments on each of those players, giving it a close match to what actual baseball presentations are like. The graphics need some better work, but this game I recommend for everyone.
  23. Foulke is planning on adding sliders and splitters to his arsenal
