  1. Choi will initially be sent down to Pawtucket. The Sox will then evaluate how Lowell, Snow & Youkilis start off the season
  2. Could lefty Rheal Cormier have a 3rd tour of duty in Boston this season?
  3. wow this is a shocker
  4. Dont you worry, he's trying out for the powerhouse Rockies http://www.endi.com/2006/03/24/deportes/389808.asp
  5. Foulke good in 1st outing -------------------------------------- Today's game saw a shutout for both teams until the 9th inning when SDox minor leaguer Hertzler gave up a 2 run walkoff shot. DiNardo was solid through 4 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits while striking out 1. Julian Tavarez followed that 2 scoreless innings of his own. Riske and Hansen had then combined for 2 scoreless innings. Hansen has not allowed a run in 8.2 innings Mike Lowell drew 1 of the 2 hits Sox batters were able to muster, raising his average to .270
  6. The report on Juan Gonzalez signing with Oakland is false, he is just simply not showing up at Red Sox camp. Well that was shorter of a stay that I was hoping for from him It shows the type of character this "me" player embodies
  7. The deal with guard Stephen Neal, is a long term contract. For Brown, he had promised his family that he would stay a Patriot or retire. An official signing is close for him to return. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2006/03/24/patriots_start_homing_in/
  8. Well with Sheffield, last season I had seen him in a Mets game throw a temper tantrum. He was called out at 1st base, then proceeded by throwing his helmet to the ground. That was followed by getting all in the umps' face, rightfully getting him ejected from the game
  9. what an ass, of course that's a given. His lawyers dont even deny the allegations made toward Bonds in the book. I hope he realizes that he will be called on to testify, good possibility during the season
  10. Get ready for Canseco's new book coming in September. He's going to be naming off new players
  11. WEEI is reporting that team sources have said that Bob Kraft has intervened in Belichick & Piloi's philosophy, he is livid they just let Adam walk away like that. Hence yesterday 4 Pats have been resigned or close to new deals with New England.
  12. The Pats have re-signed tail back Heath Evans. In the past 24 hours the Pats have resigned Chad Scott, Heath Evans, and are close to deals with Troy Brown & Stephen Neal. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2381167 EDIT: Also in this article ... The Raiders have signed Duane Starks, he will be joining Poole in their secondary
  13. Patriots' sought after receiver Keyshawn Johnson has inked a deal with the Panthers. Somehow I cant see Steve Smith willing to share the ball with him http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/14171522.htm
  14. Sources have said that Juan had his agent calling around other teams after hearing about Wily Mo. He of course used the "disrepected" card.
  15. I feel confident of the depth that we have in relief pitchers in Pawtucket. I agree that Sox should give leeway to Riske & Seanez for the beginning of the season, but at least we know they have what they will need stashed away down South Hansen, DelCarmen, Van Buren, Martinez, Meredith, Breslow
  16. exactly, Im not expecting him to have a Ted Williams like season or anything. I know that we will get more of a solid #2 hitter than Renteria, and he even had scored 100 runs. projection (.305 avg) (.360+ OBP) 30 Doubles, 13 Hrs, 70+ RBIs, 110+ Runs scored, 5 SBs
  17. Mark Loretta & Coco Crisp just continue to get on base, I have no doubts they will both have a good season. Loretta is now 15 for 34, parlay his performance into the regular season. He could very well be in the top 10 for AL runs scored, if not top 5
  18. The Sox fell to the Twins, 4-3. This drops their spring record to 6-14-1, their 3rd straight loss. Matt Clement had a good outing, giving up 3 runs in 5 innings while striking out 5. Rudy Seanez & Manny DC combined for 2 scoreless innings of relief Mark Loretta connected for his 2 HR of the spring, this one a 2 run shut. Coco Crisp had gone 2 for 3 with a walk.
  19. Each season he has gotten better against lefties, im not expecting anything different Last 3 seasons 2003- (.216 avg) 2004- (.250 avg) 2005- (.302 avg) Maybe Im using these stats the wrong way, just giving my opinion
  20. Lets void that issue... Last season Ortiz hit better against lefties than righties-- (.302) to (.298). Trust me, nothing to worry about whatsoever. Ortiz is not a "WEAK LINK" opposing them ----------------------------- The Proividence Journal is reporting that since Wells will be inactive until April 12, Lenny DiNardo will take his tempraily open spot. Infielder/outfielder/pinch runner Willie Harris will then be called up from Pawtucket when Stern's 17 days are through with http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/projo_20060323_23sox.d9c8cd0.html ----------------------------- The Sox are keeping tabs on Colorado Rockies 1st baseman Ryan Shealy http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_3630065
  21. Good to know Troy is still going to be around
  22. calm down there, just instant reaction of seeing him holding up a #4 Colts jersey
  23. Machado I cant see in the opening day roster, most definitely he wont be staying the whole season in Pawtucket. As I said in a previous post this is what the opening day roster is set to look like Pitchers *(11) Curt Schilling, Tim Wakefield, Josh Beckett, David Wells (held back until April 12), Matt Clement, Jonathan Papelbon, Rudy Seanez, David Riske, Julian Tavarez, Mike Timlin, Keith Foulke Catchers (2) Jason Varitek, Josh Bard Infielders (7) Kevin Youkilis, J.T. Snow, David Ortiz, Mark Loretta, Alex Gonzalez, Alex Cora, Mike Lowell Outfielders (5) Manny Ramirez, Coco Crisp, Trot Nixon, Wily Mo Pena, Adam Stern
  24. Trying to look at what options are available to replace Vinny. The best way to go stands out as Edinger
