  1. I was thinking this way even when he was getting his average up to 220 at that point. Defense is key, any hitting is just icing on the cake. Sure take Julio Lugo who will hit 300 while committing 20+ errors a season. Gonzo is here to stay. He is a streaky hitter so I will take the good with the bad
  2. Providence Journal
  3. Coco Crisp & Wakefield are other examples
  4. I think that they'll still wait till the offseason to do an extension for Gonzo, as well as Beckett who will be entering his final year before free agency.
  5. so close
  6. Tim Wakefield is scheduled to go for an MRI as he has been battling a sore back all season. Wake has been our 3rd, if not 2nd best starter at times. It would be a big loss if he were to go on the DL and almost assuredly this where Theo would start making the calls
  7. Its a 5 run lead, give Paps the night off. He might be needed in the next 2 days. This would be back to back nights pitching in a non-save situation.
  8. Tek's average has now dropped below 240. Of course the logical thing would be to have Lowell be your #5 guy when Trot has the day off
  9. I was going through the yahoo sports boxscore and I did a double take, to say the least... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=260707121
  10. per rotoworld A breath of fresh air we didnt see another homerun derby of players representing their home countries. A couple of guys in there last year didnt actually define slugger. This must be the first time in awhile that a Yankee isnt taking part
  11. Coco is in the midst of an 0 for 22 slump, Buehrle is the guy to help get him out of his funk EDIT: Sorry if any Chi Sox fans are reading this... AJ Pierzynski getting voted in as the last all-star player over Francisco Liriano is utter ********
  12. I have trust in Wake. He's always had his success against Tampa Bay, especially at the Trop. Im most concerned is the offense facing a rookie pitcher, and the fact that a lot of this season has seem Wake get nill run support. -------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Im surprised the D-rays have Huff in the lineup tonight, let alone hitting in the cleanup spot.
  13. They also have a 4 game series in oakland after the All-Star break Same thing happened last season as they ended June just scorching hot. In between the all-star break, 3 out of 4 to the O's and then 3 out of 4 to the Yankees
  14. sigh any fan will fall for their team when blank careless expressions are on their faces when the game is in hand to try and do anything Popup, oh well
  15. Tek in the first 3 games is 2 for 12 with 7 ks
  16. Johnson's 2 starts with the Red Sox 8 innings, 10 Runs, 13 Hits, 5 Walks, 2 hit batters, 4 SBs His next scheduled start is against Oakland after the All-Star Break. I call BS if he gets that far, let alone rides with the team on the bus to the hotel tonight
  17. The Sox sent 5 men to the plate and they took 9 total pitches
  18. :wtf: He moved to the bullpen because it was part of his rehab. Also the Sox and himself had thought that he was the best available option to close out games until he could get his stamina back up. I remember the events clearly so this isnt something Im throwing out there. He sucked in the beginning of the year because he was still hurt, last September he started to show signs of trying to make his way back to what he can be This year he's just chopping away everyone who doubted a comeback
  19. for you yankee fans, heres todays pitcher vs batter matchups -----------------------------------------------------------------------
  20. Clement isnt good enough to be our 5th starter, let alone put that hack into the bullpen.
  21. Today is a rare 415 start time. Lets hope that Schil & the Sox bats can produce some fireworks of their own. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/mlb/players/5/4267.jpg Curt Schilling, 10-2 (3.54 ERA) 102 Ks VS http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/mlb/players/2006_1/6772.jpg Casey Fossum, 3-3 (5.03 ERA) 29 Ks
  22. Sox have been shut out twice now this season They are the last team in all of the majors to not throw a shutout of their own. They had 6 at this point last season
  23. i do have big respect for kazmir, but at same time I see Sox not being able to put themselves another game above the Yankees. Which comes at a rarity, the Sox had a 12 game win streak but only advanced 3.5 games Sox will get Fossum next who is also starting to be another tough lefty on the Sox. Hopefully Schilling wont be the 2nd tough luck loser of this series
