  1. I just heard the background from my tv on channel 4 reporting the Sox have officially claimed Javy Lopez... stay tuned EDIT: Sorry RoyNH didnt realize your first posting it. Haha I was just so stoked when I heard this deal. Theo makes a great acquistion this summer
  2. Im sure that Javy will be happy knowing he'd be the starting catcher for a 4-6 week span, and also knowing that he could be playoff bound
  3. I heard on weei that Ken Huckaby will be starting tonight.
  4. Invented here, 16 world championships, all of which happened in the past Nowadays the Celtics are probably the 3rd most hyped team in Boston. Sports talk with buddies/radio/tv its all Red Sox. When Bruschi was making his comeback, Theo leaving the Red Sox trumped that story. In some ways the Red Sox offseason exceeded conversations than about the Pats The Sox have sold out close to 300 consecutive game, 3 straight seasons of making the playoffs (1 WS) and could be headed for their 4th. IMO The Celtics still have a ways to go to becoming a playoff caliber team again, and winning back what has been somewhat of a dormant fan base
  5. He hasnt gotten a win mostly because of bad luck (Run support, blown saves by his bullpen)
  6. mlbtraderumors.com is discussing this. A souce of theirs told them that Abe Alvarez is being mentioned. Get the deal done Theo
  7. I thought Id let you guys know about this Boston Globe
  8. yess thanks for the heads up Roy NH. Since the Sox are technically behind the Yanks, Sox have the advantage. Its just $2.7 million that is owed, I see Sox taking the whole salary. Great news today if Theo is able to claim him
  9. He & Crisp combined for 2 outfield assists -- Shoppach at 3rd base (Crisp made a perfect throw to Gonzo right after he caught the ball) -- Martinez at 1st base (Yes Crisp's throw was a little bit off line but we have to take in consideration that Crisp was actually able to make that catch in the 1st place. After hitting the wall, he had to fire it back all the way to 1st base with the arm of his.) -- Anyone else think that he's been working on his defense lately? His catches and relays have been more on the mark
  10. I watch Cold Pizza each morning at work. What else is there to watch at 10? Anyways he was saying how the fans were chanting "Bobby! Bobby!", thats why I posted on here. Some times its hard to tell if Woody is joking around or telling the truth
  11. Kip Wells won his Rangers debut today facing the Twins-- 5 innings, 7 Hits, 1 Run, 2 Walks, 2 Ks The 5 innings accounted for an 85 pitch count limit.
  12. EDIT: Im going by OPS stats instead of SLG, I'll go check again on who led in SLG
  13. Like there was any doubt boston.com/sports
  14. Tell that to Yankee fan Woody Paige on Cold Pizza, just where I got my info
  15. They will still get a catcher as insurance. You never know, there could be set backs.
  16. -- How was anyone to know that Bard would have a career year batting wise?? Before this season he was known as an automatic out -- Yea I will say what I will about Wake. In his case with the knuckleball, not all catchers can catch it & call the games so crafty as Doug has the past 5 seasons. Counter also that most of Bard's passed balls camen when there was a man on 3rd base. -- How do you know that it was Wakefield alone that forced a trade? Maybe Theo was going "ah crap he cant catch the knuckle for the life of him, we need to get Doug back over here"
  17. In the article he said he wanted to be traded to a team where he would be starter or at least play him more than Baltimore has this season. The Sox would do that considering he'd have 3+weeks as the starter, and he would be moving from a fake team to a contender.
  18. After July 31st, the only players you can trade for is those who have been placed on waivers. Besides in a tight pennant race, we need a proven major league catcher to hold the reins until Varitek comes back from the DL. ESPN is reporting the 2 most likely options are Javy Lopez (yes please) and Mike Lieberthal (one of Tito's former players)
  19. He's going to be much more of a pitching cancer in the dead heat of Arlington ball park. Fenway Park's status as a hitter's park is not panning out this season, its actually ranked lowest in HRs allowed
  20. According to weei when the trade sounded like it was going to happen, there was just mention of Kason Gabbard
  21. I was watching cold pizza, were the fans really chanting Bobby! Bobby! after he scored on the bases clearing double? Im sorry but never have I heard such glorifying of a debut that featured-- 0 for 3, Walk, Run Ooh he drew a walk with no outs in the 4th inning, even though he shouldve been K's on 2 borderline pitches. Game tying or go ahead RBIs then I can accept the chants/curtain calls
  22. ?? I do believe that Houston was asking for a package that looked like Lester, Hansen & Delcarmen. Theo was only willing to give up 1 or 2 of those coveted prospects. For Theo's logic, that does show he wants to win if he's offering 2 of them. Yes in the end it had fallen through. Now lets just say if your idea of a trade goes through.. Sox would then have to sacrifice more prospects for relief pitching, another starter since the 4 & 5 slots are still empty (im not completely sold on Wells), oh and another outfielder since Trot is gradually declining and hurting while Kapler is known more for his defense & clubhouse leadership Youre actually already predicting a losing 2007 season? Thats a little bit premature and out there
  23. Exactly, maybe if Varitek was just going to be out for a couple of weeks then I could try and live with Belli starting that short matter of time. But since we are talking about 4-6 weeks in stretch that is the pennant race, no sorry they need to acquire a proven starting catcher who can at least hit for a respectable avg You would be correct on his clutch moments for the Braves his stats do show that he's a 2nd half type of player.
