  1. All this talk about how the Sox after losing Bay, they now dont have a clear cut #4 hitter. I checked the stats to make sure... Bay had only batted cleanup in 52 games last year (.233 avg), the bulk of his ABs came from batting 5th or 6th http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7143/situational;_ylt=AidlkFQx3yIsXidlllXbDV.FCLcF
  2. The Mets need a lot of luck to even contend for the wild card. This is a team that lost 92 games. Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes, David Wright, Luis Castillo, John Maine, Oliver Perez and JJ Putz spent time on the disabled list. Carlos Delgado is likely to leave with Dan Murphy (aka Casey Kotchman) starting at 1st base The starting rotation is basically Johan Santana & Co. Johan's ERA was at 3.13. John Maine had the 2nd best ERA at 4.43 and he just made 15 starts. All other starters had an ERA of over 5
  3. Having it the week before the super bowl is a step up. Im not glorifying it, but hey something to watch instead of nonstop 2 week talk about the super bowl
  4. I must say this will be the first time Im kind of looking forward to the pro bowl.
  5. Its just an overpaid deal for the Mets because by year 4 or 5, he's likely to be traded off to an AL team
  6. If the Sox sign Beltre, I wonder how it would affect acquiring AGon
  7. As long as its a stop gap 3-4 combo, Im content with it
  8. http://www.metsblog.com/2009/12/29/catcher-mets-close-to-deal-with-molina/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+metsblogfeed+%28MetsBlog.com%29 The Mets are also closing in on a 2 year deal with Bengie Molina
  9. The Red Sox have also improved offense in backup catcher (Kottaras to Varitek) and backup outfielder (Rocco to Hermida). V-Mart is really being under rated here, except for several posters who have brought him up. This is a legit middle of the order hitter that can give you .300 avg, 20-25 HRs, 100+ RBIs. And if Youk wasnt hurt in April, he couldve had a 30 HR/100 RBI season
  10. Im confident that if not now, the Sox will get a big bat in July
  11. With pitching in the AL East, and having Yankee Stadium as his home park... him having an ERA under 4.50 would surprise me very much so. The only sure thing is that he will give them innings
  12. Vazquez has spent 4 seasons pitching in the AL, in his 12 year career Yankees (2004)- 4.91 White Sox (2006-2008)- 4.84, 3.74, 4.67
  13. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/19CF706A9EEF586C8625769B000B8245?OpenDocument Haha wow, the Cards might look at Felipe Lopez as an alternative in left field. Try selling that to the fan base
  14. And the Red Sox dont dominate at home?
  15. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/20091229red_sox_casey_kotchman_on_claus_nice_list/ Laughable herald article saying that the Sox tendered Kotchman a contract because they view him as a starting 1st baseman, not just a stop gap. Yes thats why theyre still trying to get Adrian Gonzalez, and have been linked to Adrian Beltre
  16. The #5 is a question mark? You do realize that right now there is 6 set starters for the Sox, right?
  17. Umm Dice-K showed up overweight and not ready for ST, then he geared himself up hard for the wonderful WBC. Thats not a good mix. After the Sox regained control of his rehabbing, he was able to finish the season on a strong note
  18. My jaw drop when I saw Celtics lose to the Clippers haha. And I agree, Tony Allen is the "Julio Lugo/.Joey Galloway" of the Celtics. Frustrating players on your team to watch
  19. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-27-new-rogers-whispers-dec-27,0,438327.column Yankees are reportedly looking at Jermaine Dye as low cost/high reward signing to slot in left field. In the 2nd half this past season, he batted .190 with 7 HRs
  20. Why would they trade Papelbon by July if theyre gunning for a playoff spot?? And Papelbon is not a Boras client... well yet anyway
  21. Im just expecting solid defense, .250 avg, 20 HRs, 75 RBIs
