Tampa Bay and St. Louis are talking trade
Going to Tampa Bay- Ram's 1st overall selection (reportedly use that to draft Ndamukong Suh)
Going to St. Louis- No. 3 overall pick, a third-round pick, and QB Josh Johnson
Not surprised. If he had a mild back strain the week before season opener, then Id be concerned. But its 6 weeks away, a number of players probably have aches and pains they have to work through as they get ready
After ARod opted out (during game 4 of the Sox world series in 07), he basically took control of re-signing with New York. Also holding out with Tek last offseason, his contract demands had scared away potential suitors
How many teams have entrenched DH's? Most teams use the DH to rotate veteran players. Papi, Edgar Martinez, Frank Thomas, Harold Baines and Jim Thome are only ones I can think of that were great in that role

The Celtics will also include JR Giddens in the deal

Sounds like the only position that Bill Hall wont play this season is catcher. Not only the outfield, but the Sox would like him to be able to play across the diamond
I dont think this will block the Sox from getting Gonzalez. They can still sign V-Mart long term and make the trade with San Diego. Also last time I checked, the DH spot going forward after this season is empty
Marquis brings stability to their rotation, no one's saying he's one of the best in baseball. He'll give them a respectable ERA while giving them innings. Over last 6 seasons, he has made 194 starts
These are 5 pitchers who had most starts for Nats this past season
John Lannan- 33 starts
Craig Stammen- 19 starts
Jordan Zimmerman- 16 starts
Shairon Martis- 15 starts
Garret Mock- 15 starts
He will be in the rotation. The projected opening day starter is Lannan, Marquis and company
Him going to the NL, and more of a pitchers park as his home will also help him out
And Ill hold my breath to worry that the season is over just because of Dice-K. Its Feb 17, still 6 weeks away from season opener. It is so rare when teams dont have injuries to their starting five. As long as its a minor set back, not that big of a deal. I kind of like he was working too hard than he was last offseason... when he was watching soaps and eating bon bons
